Beast Tamer Ascension

Book 2: Chapter 77: A Divination Delivered

Vol 2 Chapter 77: A Divination Delivered

After defeating two disciples of the Myriad Beast Sect, Lin Jing returned to his seat at the table, earning loud applause from the Beast Taming Sect’s elders and disciples alike.

The elders eagerly touted the victory to outsiders, proclaiming, “The Myriad Beast Sect is a beast-taming sect from Qingzhou with a Nascent Soul cultivator overseeing it. However, it’s clear our Holy Son surpasses them all.”

Despite the boastful words, cultivators from other sects in the Great Wasteland could only offer polite smiles. Lin Jing’s combat style was so unconventional for a Holy Son of the Beast Taming Sect that it seemed more in line with the Myriad Beast Sect’s approach. A few outspoken individuals even voiced this thought but were quickly rebuked by Beast Taming Sect disciples.

“That just shows how profound our Holy Son’s mastery of the Beast Taming Dao is! He can easily defeat his opponent in their area of expertise. We can only wonder if anyone today will be able to force him to reveal the true secret techniques of our sect.”

The elders had talked big, but the truth was that Lin Jing had yet to reach the Foundation Establishment stage. Without a breakthrough in his cultivation, he didn’t qualify to learn the Beast Taming Sect’s three core secret arts. No matter how much they boasted, there was no way for those techniques to emerge today.

With the display of the blood mosquito technique, fewer challengers dared to step forward. No one liked the thought of being drained by a swarm of mosquitoes, so most contestants took the stage only briefly, sparred lightly with Lin Jing, and quickly stepped down.

“This guy…”

Among the crowd, Bai Yuran, a disciple of Tianji Pavilion, observed Lin Jing, who was sipping coconut juice while munching on a spiritual fruit. When Lin Jing furrowed his brow and set the fruit down, an intense aura of oppression suddenly emanated from him.

“Rank 32 on the Genius Rankings? That’s an understatement...”

“To show my sincerity, I’ll use a treasure to divine his fate in greater detail,” Bai Yuran decided.

Many shared Bai Yuran’s sentiment. It wasn’t just Lin Jing’s strength that intrigued them—it was his ability to perform techniques resembling blood-path demonic arts under the nose of the Demon-Slaying Bureau without repercussion. This signaled that someone highly influential within the bureau favored Lin Jing.

This unspoken endorsement carried more weight than Lin Jing’s place on the Genius Rankings, revealing a political reality that many sects couldn’t ignore.

The Hundred Flower Valley, a key ally of the Beast Taming Sect, had also sent important figures to the ceremony. The valley’s master, her face veiled like an elegant lily, sat gracefully at the event. Beside her, the Great Elder of the valley hesitated before making a decision and spoke through a sound transmission.

“Valley Master, there’s something I haven’t yet shared. This Holy Son of the Beast Taming Sect once expressed interest in our Hundred Flower Immortal Honey.”

The Valley Master’s gaze sharpened.

“This is no fabrication,” the Great Elder continued. “But reflecting on it today, I believe the Holy Son may simply want to savor the honey for its flavor rather than for any ulterior motives.” She gestured toward Lin Jing.

From the start of the ceremony, Lin Jing had been sampling all kinds of delicacies. Each time he tasted something, he would frown as if dissatisfied.

Seeing Lin Jing’s apparent pickiness, the Great Elder began to believe that he genuinely wanted the honey for its taste. After all, during the marriage of the previous Beast Taming Sect Master and the former Hundred Flower Valley Master, a single drop of Immortal Honey added to spiritual spring water had filled the Beast Taming Sect with its fragrance. Lin Jing must have read about such events and become curious.

However, the truth was that the Hundred Flower Immortal Honey was not just a rare delicacy. It was essential for practicing certain secret techniques of the Hundred Flower Valley, some of which could only be cultivated after consuming it—such as their dual-cultivation arts. Rἁ𐌽ỖВΕṤ

This was why only the valley master’s Dao companion, the Beast Taming Sect’s former master, had ever shared the honey.

“What do you suggest?” the Valley Master asked.

“The honey yield this year is excellent,” the Great Elder replied. “If you’re willing to gift a portion to the Holy Son, it would undoubtedly strengthen our alliance with the Beast Taming Sect. His talent and potential are undeniable...”

The Valley Master fell silent for a moment before responding.

“Using the Immortal Honey for his mere appetite would indeed be wasteful. Let’s present him with an entry-level secret technique that requires it. If he’s serious about cultivation, he will accept both together.”

The Great Elder hesitated but nodded. “Understood.”

“Hey, Holy Son! Holy Son!”

Lin Jing sighed, putting down the delicacies he had been sampling. Turning to the Tianji Pavilion disciple seated on a distant peak, he asked, “You’re still hesitating?”

“No, I’ve decided to give you a divination!” Bai Yuran declared.

“If you’re just going to tell me that I’ll face some vague disaster in the near future, don’t bother,” Lin Jing replied.

“This is no ordinary reading,” Bai Yuran said. “Our disciples of Tianji Pavilion possess a unique life-bound treasure that can shield us from backlash during a divination. Though it damages the treasure, I’m willing to use it to uncover the truth about your upcoming calamity.”

Lin Jing raised a hand, inviting Bai Yuran over with a wave of spiritual energy. Handing him a spirit fruit, he said, “I appreciate your effort. I can tell you’re a good person.”

Rolling his eyes, Bai Yuran took the fruit and sat beside Lin Jing, producing a mirror.

“Here?” Lin Jing asked.

“Here.” Bai Yuran nodded and closed his eyes, beginning the divination.

Time passed, and Bai Yuran suddenly opened his eyes, staring at the mirror in his hand.

Within the mirror, a black coffin’s shadow appeared, floating in an eerie void. Inside the coffin was a miniature figure of a black-robed elder, controlling the coffin as it chased something unseen.

Crack.

A fissure formed on the mirror. Bai Yuran’s face paled as he whispered, “Soon, you’ll encounter this person. Their cultivation is vast, at the Void Mystical Stage. However, their body has been destroyed, and they’re seeking to possess yours!”

“A coffin as a manifestation of the Void Mystical Stage… This must be a cultivator of the Yin Corpse Sect! Fortunately, their state is poor, and they didn’t detect my divination!”

“Possess me?”

“Are they out of their mind?” Lin Jing muttered, momentarily stunned. It was baffling. Targeting someone with a Longevity Body for possession was undoubtedly a terrible choice.
