Vol 2 Chapter 76: I Am the True Path!
“The Holy Son reacts quickly. If you had been slower, your swarm of mosquitoes would already be mine.”
“What’s your next move? Even if you summon your contract beast, it won’t change anything. Under my Myriad Beast Circle, it’ll still be suppressed.”
“If your luck is bad enough, I might even seize your beast entirely.”
Lin Jing summoned the Ten Terrors of the Cloud Sea, crushing the previous disciple of the Myriad Beast Sect effortlessly. The cultivators from the Great Wasteland had thought Lin Jing to be almost invincible—until this next Myriad Beast Sect disciple appeared, wielding such power that even mid-tier magical tools were at their command.
Both sides displayed techniques to counter beasts, but now it seemed the methods of the Myriad Beast Sect disciple were far more terrifying.
Sweat beaded on the foreheads of several Beast Taming Sect disciples as they watched, fearing for Lin Jing. If his contract beast were absorbed and refined by the Myriad Beast Circle, it would be catastrophic.
“Heh.”
It was clear to all that Lin Jing was in a dire situation, but to everyone’s surprise, he still managed to smile—a smile that, no matter how one looked at it, wasn’t the least bit friendly.
“Interesting. I underestimated you,” Lin Jing admitted, but instead of acting recklessly, he carefully stowed away the Myriad Beast Circle and patted the gourd at his waist.“I’ve already said it: even summoning your contract beast is useless,” Qinyu declared, holding the Myriad Beast Circle. “Using the Myriad Beast Codex to activate this mid-tier treasure, I can instantly suppress any beast below the Demon Core Stage. Even Demon Core Stage creatures would struggle to resist.”
“Who said the contents of this gourd are my contract beast?” Lin Jing’s expression remained indifferent. “I’m curious, though. Can your Myriad Beast Circle suppress anything?”
Faced with his opponent’s mid-tier magical tool, Lin Jing doubted that his Pine Leaf Mouse could handle it directly, so he avoided a head-on clash.
With a single thought, the sky suddenly darkened. As everyone looked up, they saw an unending mass of vines emerge from Lin Jing’s spatial artifact, blotting out the sun!
The countless vines hung overhead like a massive storm cloud. Some among the crowd who recognized the item gasped. Though its color was off, the shape unmistakably resembled the infamous Bloodsucking Vine, a malignant plant.
“Beast Taming of plants?”
Qinyu dismissed the idea that Lin Jing would use a mere Bloodsucking Vine, a low-grade malignant plant, against him. The Myriad Beast Circle couldn’t suppress plants or tree spirits, but relying on something as weak as a Bloodsucking Vine seemed foolish.
However, in the next moment, Qinyu’s pupils constricted. After summoning the Bloodsucking Vine, Lin Jing summoned a mosquito beast—and promptly crushed it with his bare hand!
Boom!
The mosquito beast burst into a spray of blood. The blood drops defied gravity, surging upward and into the vines, which absorbed every drop!
Qinyu shuddered, sensing something ominous.
The elders and demon kings of the Beast Taming Sect twitched at the sight. They had grudgingly accepted Lin Jing’s earlier use of the Myriad Beast Circle to control a fierce mosquito beast, but sacrificing living creatures for power? This was practically as ruthless as the Myriad Beast Sect disciple who used exploding birds in battle earlier.
The Beast Taming Sect’s demon kings exchanged grim looks, understanding full well that Lin Jing had been forced to resort to such measures by this Myriad Beast Sect disciple. řÅ𐌽ÖʙĚș
Even Qinyu began to regret his actions. Mosquito beasts were bloodsucking creatures by nature, but to see one reduced to being drained by something else—it was deeply unsettling.
And then, horror materialized. Under the gaze of the shocked crowd, the Bloodsucking Vine began to spawn swarms of blood-red mosquito beasts, their numbers multiplying until they filled the sky.
One mosquito beast had been sacrificed to summon hundreds, if not thousands, of blood mosquitoes.
This was the Blood Mosquito Fusion!
“You’ve got to be kidding me…” Qinyu’s face paled as he activated the Myriad Beast Circle. Yet, just as Lin Jing had said, these blood mosquitoes weren’t living creatures—they were mere constructs of blood and had no consciousness to suppress.
The oppressive blood energy filled the air, shaking the disciples of the Myriad Beast Sect to their cores. Even summoning his own army of beasts seemed futile, for it was clear that nothing could rival the sheer terror of this blood-red swarm.
As desperation crept in, Qinyu glanced toward the Deputy Sect Master for help.
“Who dares to use demonic arts here?!”
Before Qinyu could act, a voice rang out, interrupting the duel. It was like heavenly music to Qinyu’s ears.
Several figures descended onto the peak, clad in black robes emblazoned with the insignia of the Demon-Slaying Bureau. These cultivators, tasked with overseeing the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda after the Beast Taming Sect’s closure, had been invited to the inauguration ceremony. Although they hadn’t initially attended due to their duties, the overwhelming blood energy had drawn them here.
However, what they found wasn’t a demonic cultivator but rather the Beast Taming Sect’s Holy Son…
Blood mosquitoes filled the sky, and even the elders of the Beast Taming Sect looked nervous. The demon kings grimaced, for even they couldn’t vouch for Lin Jing’s alignment after this display.
“Take him away! Take him away!” The Myriad Beast Sect disciple prayed fervently that the Demon-Slaying Bureau would remove Lin Jing from the battlefield. This way, he wouldn’t have to continue the fight.
Fortunately for Lin Jing, he had prepared for this scenario. With a calm glance at the black-robed cultivators, he produced a token.
Gao Sheng had assured him that with this token, even wielding an Ice Soul Gu would not compromise his identity.
“We’re on the same side.”
Upon seeing the token, the Demon-Slaying Bureau cultivators froze. Their expressions shifted, and they immediately cupped their fists. “Apologies, my lord. We shall take our leave.”
Qinyu: ???
The token bore the insignia of the prestigious Gao Clan, one of the four great demon-slaying families. Even the Demon-Slaying Bureau couldn’t question Lin Jing’s actions.
“See? Now you’re out of options,” Lin Jing said, turning back to Qinyu with a smile.
“Bluffing!” Qinyu retorted, his face pale. He refused to believe that a single mosquito beast could multiply into a swarm of this scale while maintaining its power.
Desperate, Qinyu summoned his beast army, commanding them to attack Lin Jing.
Qinyu’s judgment wasn’t entirely wrong. Lin Jing’s experiments had shown that the blood mosquito swarm wasn’t as powerful as an equal number of living mosquito beasts. However, their sheer numbers and bloodline connection made them terrifying nonetheless.
And this was only the beginning.
Though Lin Jing had a semi-finished blood energy formation—intended to power a massive mechanized creation—he had yet to deploy it. If he had, the blood mosquitoes would have been used as energy to drive an even more terrifying contraption.
Watching Qinyu’s beast army fall before the endless blood mosquitoes, the Deputy Sect Master of the Myriad Beast Sect glared at his disciple in frustration.
“Fool!”
If the disciple had realized that both the vines and blood mosquitoes were being controlled by the Pine Leaf Mouse hidden in Lin Jing’s sleeve, the situation might have been salvaged. But for a lower-stage cultivator, grasping such critical details in the heat of battle was nearly impossible.
With this victory, Lin Jing not only shattered the disciple’s morale but also ensured that the Myriad Beast Sect would think twice before targeting him again.
