Chapter 1685: Chapter 1782: Gigantic Martial Artist

The golden-furred dog yawned lazily, impatiently waving its paw at the surrounding demon beasts, as if telling them to scram back to where they came from.

Sure enough, all the demon beasts turned tail and ran, retreating into the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts without accomplishing anything.

This scene left the masters of both sects utterly dumbfounded, especially the experts from Return to Sea Painting Studio, who stood frozen in place, unable to react for a long while.

“What in the world is going on?” Elder Liu, who normally prides himself on his composed demeanor, was nearly jumping with rage, wishing he could drag those demon beasts out of the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts and give them a scolding.

“Eh, Elder Liu, could it be that the demon beasts in the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts are simply not in the right condition today?” Sect Master Song glanced at the elder and remarked with a strange tone.

Hearing this, Master Liu was so angry he nearly spat blood. Not in the right condition, his ass! These rebellious demon beasts had been scared off!

But amidst his frustration and shock, Master Liu couldn’t help but feel puzzled. The Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts contained several Eight-change Monster Beasts; there was no way they should retreat without a fight, right? And that golden-furred little dog—it looked no different than a regular dog. How could it possess such commanding presence, even forcing beings like the Nine-headed Giant Python and the Red Sun Fire Ox, creatures with ancient bloodlines, into fear?

Master Liu couldn’t figure it out no matter how he tried, nor did he want to dwell on it any longer. He decided to activate the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts again, trying to summon the creatures for another go.

But this time, no matter how Master Liu activated it, the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts flashed several times, and yet the beasts inside refused to emerge, instead retreating deeper into its confines.

“These wretched creatures!” Master Liu was practically in a rage. Now it had come to this—the beasts inside the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts simply wouldn’t come out anymore, rendering this treasure useless!

“Master Liu, could it be that your Return to Sea Painting Studio is unwilling to contribute fully and failed to bring the true Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts?” Sect Master Song remarked rather impolitely, his dissatisfaction with Master Liu quite apparent.

After all, this was a joint effort between the two sects to face a powerful enemy, and the battlefield had been chosen at his Spirit Martial Chess Sect. If Return to Sea Painting Studio intended to hold back, wouldn’t this indirectly harm his Spirit Martial Chess Sect?

For a moment, many of Spirit Martial Chess Sect’s experts regarded Return to Sea Painting Studio with cold looks, creating subtle tensions between the two sides.

Though Master Liu was angry, he had no choice but to suppress his temper at this moment and explain, “Sect Master Song, please don’t misunderstand. This Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts is indeed genuine, and the beasts within it—you witnessed them yourself earlier. They seem to fear the lifeform Fang Lin has; that’s why they retreated into the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts. It’s not because I’m unwilling to fully aid the battle.”

Sect Master Song listened to the explanation, his eyes narrowing though some of his suspicion eased. Still, he couldn’t fully believe it. After all, the fame of the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts echoed like thunder throughout the scholarly sects—its emergence was typically a harbinger of unstoppable dominance. Yet today, not only had it failed to prove of any use, but it had also damaged their momentum. How could this not arouse doubt from Sect Master Song?

“Then, does Master Liu know what kind of lifeform Fang Lin possesses, to make these beasts so paralyzed with fear?” Sect Master Song asked with a furrowed brow.

Master Liu shook his head, his tone heavy as he replied, “This lifeform appears ordinary, yet it can make the creatures in the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts retreat in fear. It’s surely no ordinary being, though I cannot recognize it.”

Sect Master Song inwardly scoffed, thinking, Isn’t that stating the obvious? If it can repel those beasts, how could it possibly be ordinary?

“Sect Master Song, do not fret. Even though the Picture of Ten Thousand Beasts cannot currently be utilized, my Return to Sea Painting Studio has brought other treasures. They are enough to restore strength to your sect’s array and delay matters sufficiently,” Master Liu reassured.

“Let’s hope so,” Sect Master Song coldly replied, continuing his work with his sect’s experts to infuse power into the Protective SectArray.

Meanwhile, Master Liu solemnly retrieved a fine brush and a seemingly ordinary inkstone from his Nine Palace Bag.

With brush and inkstone in hand, Master Liu’s entire demeanor seemed to shift.

He dipped the brush into the inkstone, gathering some ink, before skillfully sketching in the air before him.

As he started, Master Liu’s expression grew solemn and intensely focused, every stroke deliberate and firm.

Shortly thereafter, a majestic Giant Spiritual Warrior materialized before him, radiating black light and appearing fierce and lifelike.

As Master Liu added the final stroke to its eyes—a true finishing touch—the Giant Spiritual Warrior seemingly came to life.

Boom!!!

The Giant Spiritual Warrior charged forward, exuding an aura of unparalleled strength and vigor as it attacked Fang Lin and his group of four.

Fang Lin withdrew the golden-furred dog into the Beast Bag and, seeing the approaching Giant Spiritual Warrior, didn’t appear concerned.

With a single strike of his sword, Jian Angxing aimed at the Giant Spiritual Warrior, but it failed to harm the figure in the slightest, and the warrior blocked the attack with a punch.

Zhen Yangzi followed up with a Taoist Sect Secret Skill in an attempt to restrain the warrior’s movements, but to no avail. The Giant Spiritual Warrior broke free effortlessly with its brute force and charged toward Fang Lin, swinging its fist at his head.

Fu Yue Vajra stepped in front of Fang Lin, throwing out a punch of his own to meet the attack.

A resounding thud echoed as the Giant Spiritual Warrior’s attack was blocked, forcing it to retreat. Fu Yue Vajra furrowed his brows slightly—clearly, he was surprised by the warrior’s strength.

At that moment, Master Liu began sketching again, preparing to summon a second Giant Spiritual Warrior.

“What an impressive technique!” Fang Lin murmured, as eight Ancient Lamps of Flame God flew out, unleashing fiery blazes upon the Spirit Martial Chess Sect below.

Fang Lin had figured it out—Return to Sea Painting Studio was likely buying time for the Spirit Martial Chess Sect’s array to recover its power. If the Protective SectArray reached its peak state, breaking through would become extremely difficult.

After all, that immortal treasure could only be used twice, with its second use slightly less powerful than the first.

Thus, Fang Lin needed to prevent the array’s restoration. The continuous assault of the Ancient Lamps of Flame God, with their brilliant Skyfire, proved to be an effective strategy.

“Damn it!” Sect Master Song and the Spirit Martial Chess Sect experts wore grim expressions. Not only had their array’s recovery been delayed, but they were also under the relentless pressure of the Ancient Lamps of Flame God. The situation was dire.

“Great Elder, take a team and activate the Ancient Heavenly Array!” Sect Master Song instructed an elderly man beside him.

The elder was initially startled, but without saying a word, he quickly took several experts and left to carry out the order.
