Chapter 1107: Countrymen?

The person who had caught Vicente’s eye smiled, but didn’t hide the truth for long. “Actually, you’re not the first native of the Polaris Realm I’ve met. In fact, there are quite a few natives of your realm in the Inviting Isles. Naturally, I noticed the resemblance between you and them.”

“Oh? So that’s it?”

“Come to think of it, it makes sense. He really has a different magical fluctuation, just like those guys. The difference is that he’s much more powerful, and of course, he belongs to a different race.”

The other two peak mages who were there to deal with Vicente realized the same thing their companion had realized before them.

Vicente clenched his fists with interest and took a step forward. “Are there any more natives of the Polaris Realm in the Inviting Isles? What races are they? Could you take me to them?”

Seeing Vicente’s interest in the subject, the man who had brought it up smiled, seeing a good way out for them with this powerful young man. “We can settle this and lead you to one of them. Of course, let’s clear up today’s misunderstanding first.”

The other two understood their companion’s plan without needing to discuss it and immediately turned to Vicente and looked at him expectantly.

Vicente understood the proposal and readily agreed. “All right. Give me the information about who took my companions and our relationship with them will end here. I’ll forget that you sold them. It really wasn’t your fault.”

Vicente had already planned to handle the matter that way. The group that was interested in selling his companions in the first place was the group that was now subordinate to him. The people at the market couldn’t be blamed for everything, because these undead would have sold Larissa, Lyra, and Rex to others if the market hadn’t existed.

In the end, a slave trader could not be blamed for all slavery. The system involved not only the sellers but also the hunters, the legislative, and judicial forces that allowed it, and the social acceptance of the majority.

Vicente wasn’t there to fight slavery, just to get his companions back. So he had no intention of waging war against everyone involved in the system that had victimized his friends.

The Sorcerers lowered their guard even more when one of them gestured for him to follow.

Before they even reached a more private room, the subordinate from a moment ago brought out the market book to help Vicente.

One of the top Sorcerers ordered the man to present the part of the book that referred to the sale of slaves. This individual, the manager of the establishment, quickly identified the time when Minos’ subordinate group had left an elf, a flaming lion, and a human for sale at the market.

In particular, this manager remembered the sale of the elf well, as it was not a common creature in the Inviting Isles.

“Here it is. Their entry and exit register.” The manager pointed to the page of the book that Vicente should read.

Vicente looked at the page full of records and glanced at the place indicated by the native standing next to him. There were no names in the space showed, but a registration number, along with characteristics such as approximate age, height, weight, race, and cultivation. There was a check-in date and a check-out date, just like every item in a store should be recorded.

When Vicente saw how much someone had paid for his companion, he couldn’t help but make an ugly expression. Even though he didn’t know exactly how much that amount of local currency was worth, he knew any amount would not be enough to pay for his companions’ freedom and future.

“Who were they sold to?” He asked the most important question at the moment.

The high-level Sorcerers, sitting with Vicente around a small table, nodded for the manager to tell everything he knew.

The man said, “I can’t say for sure because we don’t keep track of the names of the buyers. But I do remember who bought the fairy, 8892. He paid a lot for her and took the flaming lion with him. His name is Baret, and he’s part of an important sect in the Valley of Dreams.

As for the human, I can’t tell you exactly who took her. I remember that the auction was weak that day, and the dispute was between two groups. One represented the Glorious Buddha Sect, and the other was the Alpine Eye Family.

Vicente kept these names for later investigation and visitation.

The manager concluded, “I’m afraid I can’t give you any certainty about their location and current vital state, Senior. Once something leaves our market, we don’t seek information about it.”

Sensing the sensitivity of the matter, one of the peak Sorcerers opened his mouth to draw Vicente’s thoughts away from where they were. “We can provide you with a map and information on how to reach one of these powers. By the way, the Glorious Buddha Sect is near where one of our acquaintances from the Polaris Realm lives.”

Vicente looked into the man’s eyes and accepted the offer. “Thank you then. Whatever truthful information you give me now, I’ll pay for it later at its fair value.”

The three smiled in agreement, and one of them motioned for the market manager to leave, leaving them alone.

With this low-level Sorcerer gone, Vicente heard the three old experts talk again about the natives of the Polaris Realm, answering the questions he had asked.

“We have met several natives of the Polaris Realm during our travels, Senior Fuller. Some of them have left the island or even died. So we’ve seen beings of different races, including elves, like the girl who was irregularly sold at the market.”

“The one we can introduce to you most easily and quickly is a dragon, an old fellow who lives in the central mountains of the island.”

“He is on our level and is the least peculiar and most approachable of those we know. An encounter with him might be more civilized…”

“But we won’t risk it. We’ll tell you where to go and accompany you to a certain point, if you wish. But we have no intention of seeing such a dragon now. Please understand.”

Vicente listened to them, seeing that they had their own experiences and concerns about the dragon they wanted to introduce him to.

“All right. You don’t have to go that far. Just show me where it is and give me the information I need.”
