Chapter 1102: Rituals Origin
Moving his hands, Vicente summoned his powers externally to his being, bringing out his domain of darkness as the crown and figure of the throne took shape.
The ground in that area shook, with more undead rising, while those already standing, along with the Hell guardians, grew stronger under the action of Vicente’s negative powers.
The enemy, like him, prepared for the battle. The 10th stage Devil looked into Vicente’s eyes and identifying today’s target. His expression was not at all good. Not only was he facing a threat, but seeing and feeling Vice’s powers up close, this rocky being couldn’t help but look deeply serious.
Vicente was only in the 9th stage, but his powers, in qualitative terms, were no weaker than those of newly promoted 10th stage Devils!
From where he was leading his infernal horde, this 1-Star Transcendent could sense the threat of Vicente’s Darkness Realm. Vice’s powers were capable of overcoming the ordinary laws of the Hell itself and influencing part of the dimension in Vice’s own favor!
How many Devils could do such a thing? This one knew of none, having never seen or heard of such an event!
As he watched Vicente move, as well as his group, this leader of the horde at the hilltop understood why the dimension seemed to favor this opponent.
That was all he considered at the last moment available to think of anything. Just a few meters before the two groups reached each other, all that remained was to act savagely and instinctively against the opponents in each the way.
The undead on both sides were the first to confront directly, attacking each other like the irrational beings they were, tearing parts off each other while the only thing that mattered was living and killing.
The guardians were more sophisticated, but even they could be brutal in combat, paying little attention to keeping themselves intact as they sought to win at any cost.
That left Vicente, his subordinates he had made over the last few months, and the enemies, the Devil leader of the group and his own minions.
Some minions engaged in combat against each other, but some of them stayed with their masters to take part in the main contest of the battle.
Vicente set aside his non-negative powers, using his most potent against his opponents: darkness.
Light could be the weakness of diabolical entities, but in an environment where light was naturally weakened, Vicente wouldn’t dare use such an element against opponents stronger in level than him. Instead, he focused on what was most abundant in the area, using part of his influence over the terrain he was on—which he had just conquered—while also making use of how the Hell seemed to favor him.
His shadow creatures acted behind his enemies’ backs, paralyzing those who were 9th stage, like him, so easily that the only Transcendent there seemed surprised by Vicente’s initial advantage in the confrontation.
But while Vicente could be horrible to beings of the same cultivation stage as him, the same wasn’t so true with more powerful beings.
When he tried to grab the 1-Star Devil with a hand of darkness and mana and punch it against the ground, Vicente missed his opponent and was attacked from behind.
The creature appeared behind him and immediately attacked against his back, boldly going up against the Throne of Darkness.
Even though this individual was powerful, he had underestimated the qualities of Vicente’s current throne.
Clang!
A loud metallic sound resounded from the collision point of Devil’s attack and the Throne of Darkness, as the creature retreated, feeling the part of his body he had tried to use against Vicente hurt like it hadn’t for a long time.
He attacked and retreated, but Vicente didn’t stand still. Taking advantage of the enemy’s surprise at his ability to resist, Vicente used the point of contact between him and the enemy, spreading the corrosive poison that covered the entire throne over the part of the enemy’s body that had touched his magical form.
The black poison, similar to a subtle mist, proliferated around one of the alien-shaped creature’s appendages, sending a chill down his spine as he realized the danger. Without hesitation, the Devil cut off that appendage, sacrificing himself to save most of his body.
He opened his mouth and let out a restrained but very descriptive sound, revealing his pain to subordinate warriors and enemies alike, the side of his group being the first to show weakness.
Vicente raised one of his hands in the air from where he sat on his throne and used the oldest and most powerful characteristic of his essence.
“Suppression!” The moment he spoke, the gravity around that hill seemed to alter, increasing several times for everyone who wasn’t an extension of Vicente’s power, forcing many creatures to fall motionless to the ground.
Vicente’s warriors, who were already the majority at this point in the fight, given his influence in combat against the weakest, found themselves in position to execute many enemies. Meanwhile, the 1-Star Devil himself felt his body weaken against the enemy’s ability, almost losing control of himself and falling to his knees.
His eyes widened as he trembled vigorously, sweating heavily in this disadvantaged position.
He struggled to raise his head and look at Vicente, but when he finally did, what he saw was different from what he had expected. Instead of an enemy waiting for the challenge, arrogantly demonstrating his strength, what this Devil saw was a prepared opponent.
Vicente was finishing putting a ritual into action, making magical symbols gradually appear around where such a Devil was standing.
The elements and mana in the area moved unnaturally, causing the enemy creatures still ’alive’ to tremble in horror, with the Devil in question turning pale.
’Voodoo!’ The creature recognized the ancient form of the Devils, long lost with the separation of the Reincarnation Wheels and the dispute with Argardus.
Vicente didn’t know it, but his sorcery had emerged from one of the higher dimensions and had long since been lost among its most powerful members.
However, as he used his profession in the Hell for the first time, he realized his art’s connection to the dimension, noticing how the surrounding space seemed to revere him as his Cursing Ritual took shape against the Devil.
His mana almost ran out in the process, but he couldn’t help seeing something else to encourage him in this dimension before his departure back to Anicane.
’Interesting.’ He thought, trying to ignore the magical fatigue and pain from the collision earlier. ’Unfortunately, there’s no more time. Besides that awful group, I can feel others closing in. It looks like I’ve become a target.’
As the Devil’s body deformed, heading towards its explosion, Vicente prepared for his escape, simultaneously interested and worried about his future in the dimension.
’I hope you’ll help me with this in the future, Senior Minos!’
At that moment, the body of a Transcendent exploded, concurrently as a dimensional spatial rift opened up in the Hell!
