Chapter 1101: Escape from Hell?
“Congratulations on your breakthrough, my master,” said a rocky-looking creature, 9-Star of the Sorcerer stage, kneeling in front of Vicente, while a countless number of creatures around them did the same, repeating such words.
Given the situation of many undead and beings who barely spoke the common language, the sound of their congratulatory words formed a macabre sonority that would easily frighten even murderers.
But Vicente only felt congratulated, smiling as he looked at his hands and felt the power of a 5-Star Sorcerer coursing through his veins.
After only a few minutes since arriving in this area where he had conquered yet another Reincarnation Wheel, he had achieved his level advancement, which was still holding him back in the Hell.
While feeling his cultivation at the maximum peak he had already reached, realizing himself at the threshold he could go without worrying about adding new elements of stability to his magical foundation, he ignored his underlings to focus on his improved capabilities.
Manipulating his mana and elements around one of his teleportation formations, he saw the space in front of him distort until a small stained glass-sized crack opened up, stopping expanding as soon as it reached that size. ’Not enough for me to pass through comfortably, but very close to the minimum necessary.’
He kept his smile on his lips, pondering the meaning of this post-progress test. ’The Hell is not homogeneous. I’m in the center of a Reincarnation Wheel domain, where the elements are more concentrated. If I go to the border of two territories, I should get an area where the space is less stable than here.’
“Let’s move,” he said as he left his position of progress, ignoring the rank of this domain he had achieved, no longer so interested in local information before his departure.
Now that he knew about what the Hell was, its functions and possibilities, as well as the configuration of the infernal powers, and what’s more, a method of entering the dimension, he intended to return in the future to strengthen himself. Naturally, he wanted to learn more and make use of the benefits of being a Devil within its territory. But it wasn’t time yet. Vicente hadn’t forgotten his companions-who might be in danger in the Sea of Stars-but he also wanted to learn more on the other side, using his current powers to see the bigger picture.
Since he would need new pentagrams, he intended to leave the Hell aside temporarily, even though he was certain that the dimension would be his quickest way to achieve the promises he had left in Polaris Realm.
Thus, he would lead his group for about an hour and a half, enough time to leave the core of that territory and reach an intermediate position where he would verify his theory. When he realized he was right and that at the border of the realms he would find the best place to leave, he continued with his group on this journey that would take another hour to complete.
During the last 15 minutes of the journey, Vicente thought about his wives, his daughter and his sisters. He wondered how they were doing, what level of cultivation they had reached and how much longer it would take them to reunite.
He missed them. He missed touching his women and feeling their love envelop him.
But he used these feelings as fuel and not as a reason to mourn. Remaining optimistic, Vicente saw a slight hill ahead, from where he imagined he would find his best place to try to extrapolate the limits of the dimension and return to the ship where Larissa, Rex and Lyra should be – he thought.
How long had it been? He had been in the Hell for about eight months. So 8 months had passed for his friends in Anicane? Vicente did not know, but he hoped so and hadn’t once considered that his friends would already be in The Inviting Isles when he finally reached the present moment. As far as he was concerned, he would meet them again in the Sea of Stars, hopefully at the end of the journey.
And as for the enemy that Minos had saved him from that day he entered the Hell, well, Vicente didn’t believe that such a creature would use Larissa, Rex and Lyra against him. After months in the Hell, with an absurd growth in his magical level and understanding, Vicente had realized things; he understood better how to differentiate magical levels from high-level beings.
Both Minos and that day’s opponent were Transcendents, strong Transcendents, to say the least. These were creatures so strong that mere ordinary laws did not limit them. For such beings to use hostages against someone as weak as he was still didn’t make much sense.
But although he thought he would meet his friends at sea, traveling without the company of that Transcendent enemy, Vicente didn’t rule out the possibility of being wrong and encountering a totally different situation.
As such, while arriving at his final destination, leading the way up that hill with his horde, he thought about how to defend himself and how to act when he returned to Anicane and ran into trouble.
Preparing in his suit and space ring the items he would need to defend himself-weapons and resources he had got or created during his stay in the Hell—he felt ready to leave.
Before he reached the last few meters, however, something else appeared to upset Vicente’s plans. At the top of the hill he was about to finish climbing, he and his subordinates sensed something amiss an instant before a group emerged, leaving the back of the hill to become obvious to them.
Vicente frowned and stopped immediately, visualizing hundreds of undead, guardians and, most importantly, a Devil!
Feeling the 1-Star cultivation of the Transcendent stage, Vicente changed his expression from one of satisfaction to one of nervousness, already moving his mana as he felt the challenge in his path forming.
’Damn! Who are they? Why did they have to get in my way just now?’ He lamented as he tightened his fingers on the teleportation formation.
From where he was, Vicente could use the item and begin his journey of departure. But this would create two main problems for him. The first and most pressing, his magical tool could do incredible things, but he would need an area of stable space for at least a minute to complete his escape from the dimension. Secondly, even if he managed this, his journey would leave traces behind, which would take at least 10 minutes to close completely. Within that time, anyone with powers or tools compatible with spatial manipulation could use this path to reach him!
Aware of these two problems, Vicente felt his blood run hot as his heart beat faster at the sight of yet another group of enemies coming to hunt him down, not the first, but the strongest he had encountered so far!
