SUPREME ARCH-MAGUS
Chapter 911 - 911: The Badger’s Blunder in the Crystal VaultSea Ancestral Temple…
Inside the closed chamber, the dim blue glow from the wall-lit pearls flickered like a tranquil heartbeat. Kent’s breath had steadied, but his complexion still bore the signs of his brutal battle with Lee Dong. Even the Rebirth Pill had taken time to stabilize the wild fluctuations in his soul and meridians.
A few feet away, the dragon Sparky, now in his humanoid form with fiery red skin and gleaming orange eyes, sat crouched in a corner, claw-like nails tapping on the polished shell floor. His eyes were narrowed in intense thought. Every few moments, he sniffed the air, then peered under furniture, behind wall carvings, and even inside the medicinal jars provided by the Naga princess.
“What in the fire plains of the East…” he muttered to himself, flaring his nostrils. His tail twitched with impatience. Finally, after checking even the hollow pearl lamps one last time, Sparky stood tall and exhaled heavily. “I can’t find him… Damned troublemaker.”
With a slow, almost apologetic pace, Sparky approached Kent. He gently tapped Kent’s hand with his foot, and the sea of elemental energy surrounding Kent quivered. Kent’s brows furrowed before his eyes fluttered open.
“What happened?” he asked groggily.
Sparky scratched his head. “Master… the one-eyed badger is missing.”
Kent’s eyes instantly widened as he sat upright. “What?!”
He summoned his storage ring, sending waves of spiritual sense through it, flipping through every layer. His heart sank when he found no sign of the mischievous creature.
“Didn’t I ask you to keep an eye on him? Where the hell did that troublemaker go again?” Kent asked, clearly annoyed.
“Master, I did keep an eye on him,” Sparky defended. “But the moment we entered the Naga clan’s territory, his aura vanished from my senses. I think it’s the barrier fields. And… well… that badger’s been acting weird for the past three months. I mentioned it to you, remember?”
Kent rubbed his temples and sighed. “It’s not a character flaw. It’s heat season. His race enters a compulsive phase—searching for a partner to complete their bloodline contract.”
Sparky raised an eyebrow. “That’s why he’s been hoarding shiny stuff like a magpie?”
Kent nodded slowly. “Exactly. Badgers of his species collect rare treasures, present them to potential mates as a sign of devotion. It’s a natural phenomenon for him, but for us, it’s been a pain. My fault for not dealing with it earlier. Still, this place should have restrictive formations. He won’t be able to steal anything valuable or cause trouble… I hope.”
Kent laid back down with a sigh, his expression darkening. “Let’s give him a night. If he’s not back by then, we search. For now, let me recover. We’ll be heading to the trial ground soon.”
Deep Inside…Unbeknownst to Kent, deep within the spiraling sea-pearled halls of the Sea Ancestral Temple, the one-eyed badger was exploring with gleeful hops. His black fur shimmered with water droplets as he snuck past glowing arrays and silent guards. His nose twitched at every trace of spiritual energy, leading him downward, farther than even the clan’s inner circle dared to roam freely.
Eventually, the winding tunnels opened into a sealed chamber, guarded not by soldiers but by ancient formation scripts glowing with golden light.
But somehow, miraculously—or foolishly—the badger slipped through the formation, seemingly bypassing it entirely due to his beast instinct and chaotic, unpredictable aura.
Inside, a world of light and silence awaited.
The room was vast, and shaped like a lotus bloom. Its walls were lined with glowing white and gold crystals, humming with a melody of pure spiritual essence. The floor beneath was translucent like frozen starlight, and in the center floated a crystal coffin, transparent as a water droplet, with a faint mist swirling inside.
Inside it lay a woman.
Her beauty was beyond mortal realm—silver hair flowing like liquid moonlight, her skin pale with a faint golden hue. She appeared to be sleeping peacefully, her hands crossed over her abdomen. Each breath she took was so light it almost seemed imaginary, as if the chamber was sustaining her life in stasis.
The badger froze at the sight of her.
His single eye blinked.
There was no fear, no reverence. Just curiosity… and greed.
He sniffed. His eyes caught the glow of the surrounding crystals.
“Shiiing!”
He extended his paw and yanked one glowing crystal from the wall with a muffled crack.
Nothing happened.
Emboldened, he snatched another. And then another. Quickly, he stuffed them inside his spatial pouch, tongue lolling out with delight. The white and gold crystals responded to his touch with soft resistance, but they were no match for his beastly strength and racial affinity toward absorbing spiritual materials.
In his excitement, he climbed the edge of the coffin and reached for a particularly bright golden crystal embedded near the woman’s forehead.
As his paw brushed it, the light of the chamber flickered.
The runes on the wall pulsed.
A low hum echoed.
The woman’s eyes twitched.
The badger froze, eyes widening.
“Uh-oh.”
He backed off, slipping, rolling across the floor. He scrambled to grab the rest of his loot and prepared to run, but a massive golden sigil emerged from the coffin’s base, rising like a tidal wave.
The woman’s eyes slowly opened.
A soft voice echoed, both calm and filled with dormant majesty:
“Who… dares… disturb the Vault of Silence?”
The badger squeaked in terror.
From above, the formations began to react. Bells rang. Runes lit up in layers.
The Sea Ancestral Temple was now aware that something—or someone—had entered the most sacred sealed domain.
—
Back in Kent’s chamber, as Kent meditated, his brow twitched. His spiritual senses, tethered faintly to the badger due to their Master-Servant bond, felt a sudden surge of light and divine power.
His eyes shot-open.
Sparky also snapped to attention. “That… that’s not normal power.”
Kent stood. “Something’s wrong.”
Sparky nodded. “Shall I run?”
“No.” Kent’s voice turned serious. “Let’s find that damn badger before he brings the entire temple down on us.”
