Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 969 - 969: Evelyn's Reaction“!!!”
Everyone couldn’t help but widen their eyes, as if they couldn’t believe what was happening.
Bella dropped her jaw, thinking she had just witnessed a miracle. Although it was a sparring match, both of them were already in that position. In her perspective, locking her in that movement would be effective in a match, since Evelyn had her own confidence in taking down Nathan.
But it also let other familiars attack her. Of course, there was one big miscalculation.
Fenrir mentioned it as the fifth domain, but Bella didn’t know whether it was a domain or not. She only knew that Fenrir’s strength was so unique that it could destroy anyone’s domain.
That was why the last attack would be effective against Evelyn. In other words, this was something Nathan could do in a sparring match but not in battle.
If she considered everything, it was clear Nathan had never intended to make it this way. He just wanted to win.
However, because of their positions and Fenrir’s power, the match just ended with a kiss. She knew how prideful her childhood friend was, so she feared the consequences of this result.
Evelyn might impulsively react or even kill Nathan. That was why her back was drenched in sweat as she leaped toward Evelyn as if she wanted to stop her.
Meanwhile, the other divine beasts panicked, thinking the same thing. Whatever they had to do, they had to make sure Nathan didn’t die.
Evelyn and Nathan widened their eyes, staring at each other in shock. Their brains were processing what was currently happening.
Evelyn’s body was shaking while Nathan’s mind was revolving like crazy, trying to figure out a way to escape this.
Fenrir looked away while saying, “Oh… My bad.”
His heart sank the moment Evelyn pulled back because this was the time for her to react. Meanwhile, his mind was empty as he couldn’t find any way to escape from this predicament.
He had resigned himself to fate, thinking he would be slapped to death. However, the divine beasts were releasing their ena to the maximum, as if planning to go to war against Evelyn.
What was even more shocking was Evelyn’s reaction.
Despite her shaking body, Evelyn took a few deep breaths to regain her composure.
“Evelyn…” Bella waved her hand down, trying to calm her.
Since she was still sitting on top of Nathan, Evelyn rose to her feet while extending her hand, helping him up.
“!!!” Nathan’s brain couldn’t keep up with Evelyn’s reaction. He hesitated for a moment but chose to take this hand.
Once both of them stood in front of each other, Evelyn said, her voice still shaking but gradually calming down. “You… have won this match… So, we’ll proceed with the agreement…”
“Ehm… Sorry…” Nathan awkwardly apologized, not knowing what else he had to say.
“It doesn’t matter. It’s embarrassing, but it happens. If I end up getting attacked while bathing in the river, will I get so embarrassed that I give the attackers a chance to defeat me?
“No, right?” Evelyn, despite the embarrassment, tried to act as rational as possible. She wasn’t a person who would just scream after getting embarrassed while letting the attacker hit her. She might be shaken, but she had to react properly.
It was clear that the kiss earlier was not intentional. There was no need to punish someone who hadn’t done anything wrong.
Even Nathan didn’t expect Evelyn would react this way, but it was indeed relieving.
Bella and the divine beasts observed her reaction. Once they confirmed there was no anger in her reaction, they finally lowered their guards.
“I understand…” Nathan nodded. “Still, I feel bad even if it’s an incident. While I won this match, I will get the boat as well.”
Evelyn shook her head. “There’s no need for you to do so. Let’s just act as if nothing’s happened…”
“…” Nathan looked at her for a moment before correcting her words. “In that case, as a member of the Sleeping Garden, I will use my channel to get the boat. Meanwhile, the Sleeping Garden will provide the resource and item I can use to get that boat.”
Evelyn closed her eyes for a moment. It was true that having Nathan get the boat was their best choice. It felt like Nathan was still blamed for the accident, but if she was too adamant about getting the boat, she was afraid the journey would become more dangerous.
Although Nathan could bring this matter up at a later date, she still believed this was the best idea.
She just confirmed it with a nod but refused to discuss it further. “Let’s talk about that later.”
“I understand.”
“And as agreed, I will be teaching you a few days every week. I should be free in 9 days, so take that in mind.”
Nathan nodded with a solemn expression.
“In that case, Bella will handle everything else. Go prepare for your trip.” Evelyn turned back while waving her hand before teleporting back to the base.
After seeing her gone, Bella let out a sigh of relief. Her legs became weak as she supported herself on Nathan’s shoulder. “You… Do you know how worried I was? You could have died at any moment.”
“Yeah. It was fortunate that she took it in a mature way or I would have died…” Nathan sighed.
The reason Bella was fond of Nathan was due to him respecting a certain boundary, so she believed that was an incident.
“Anyway, I will check up on Evelyn.”
“Yeah.”
Bella waved her hand while rushing back to the mansion. In their base, Evelyn just returned to her room, locking herself up. She leaned on the door while looking up, her fingers touching her lip.
“A kiss, huh?” Evelyn closed her eyes. No one knew what she was thinking.
Meanwhile, Fenrir sighed, saying, “Sorry. It was not intentional. I did try to slap her as hard as possible so that she fell on top of you, maybe ending it with a small hug. But that kiss was unintentional.”
“…” The others couldn’t help but believe what Fenrir had just acknowledged. Only Anubis knew about this because he was already there when Fenrir tried to be the best wingman for Nathan and Selena. He could only cover his eyes with his paw and shake his head helplessly.
“Do you know I could have died there? Do you think I’m a jerk who takes advantage of a woman’s weakness just because I want to get close to that person? I have integrity!” Nathan berated Fenrir, but instead of giving him a punishment, Nathan actually raised his hand as the two just had a high-five. “But good job.”
Fenrir raised his eyebrows playfully, as if he had done his job.
Other divine beasts were too speechless to see these two buddies.
