“Anubis, it’s time!”

“!!!” Anubis understood what this signal meant. He hurriedly shifted his Synchronization from Jinwu to Nathan. Jinwu had played his role in eliminating the rest of the summoners, so there was no need for that power anymore.

On the other hand, Alan was much trickier than they originally expected, so Nathan had to deal with him somehow.

Besides, even though the divine beasts and Nathan didn’t say it, all of them knew they shouldn’t take others’ prey.

The only time they worked together was when it was impossible to win alone or achieve another goal.

However, Nathan’s current goal was to defeat Alan by himself. Of course, Anubis was outside that rule. That was the only condition the divine beasts set if Nathan wanted to be reckless. Even Nathan had no choice but to accept them. It wasn’t like he was planning to die either.

The moment Alan noticed the surge of strength coming to Nathan’s body, he hurriedly jumped away to get some distance. He observed Nathan for a moment before realizing that, because of that additional strength, Nathan’s power was on par with him.

Nathan smiled at Alan. “With this, there is no one that will interfere with our battle.”

It was unfair to have synchronization, but because Nathan’s strength was weaker than his and this synchronization only made them equal, a battle maniac like Alan simply smiled. “Heh? Do you think you can defeat me even if we’re equal?”

His blades shivered as he leaped forward while shouting, “I have been this strong much longer than you, brat!”

Nathan formed bullets in one hand and a shield in the other.

As if knowing his plan, Alan waved both hands toward him.

Nathan blocked the blade on the left with his shield while using the coat to cover the right side. With this, the bullets could fly forward.

Alan changed his blade forms into needles and shot a lot of the bullets down before dodging the rest.

After that, Nathan grabbed his gun and shot him with a powerful beam that Alan would have no choice but to avoid.

Alan could definitely slice it into two, but Nathan had messed up with his stance with those bullets.

Yet, despite Nathan’s expectation, Alan actually confronted the beam head-on.

To his surprise, the bullet was dispersed in all directions, revealing Alan using a spear instead of a sword.

He then approached Nathan and covered the remaining distance between them before thrusting his spear in rapid succession.

Nathan used his shield to block each thrust while moving his shield according to the spear’s movement.

However, Alan abruptly waved down his spear to the ground as though he wanted to hit it. At that moment, the spear was extended, which should have hit Nathan.

Fortunately, Nathan had predicted it from the beginning. After seeing the blade that managed to almost cut him, he knew what Alan was up to. It was thanks to that clash that Nathan was able to fight Alan on equal ground.

Nathan had jumped slightly above the ground just to avoid it.

“Tsk.” Alan clicked his tongue and changed his spear into a sword before waving it toward Nathan, sending forth the crescent-shaped attack that sliced through the shield.

Nathan immediately shot down the attack, overwhelming it with his ena. The residual force from the bullet forced Alan to dodge.

Alan raised both hands, creating a small gap between his two palms. All of a sudden, a much bigger sphere formed and turned into a giant pole, continuously extending toward Nathan.

“!!!” Nathan hurriedly kicked the air, barely avoiding it. Still, he noticed another fluctuation of ena coming from the pole, so he kicked the air one more time.

As he expected, another spike emerged from within the pole, almost hitting his stomach.

Alan climbed onto the pole to reach Nathan. To control Nathan better, he had to stop him from landing. Hence, Alan kicked the air, which resulted in another blade forming from his shoe.

“!!!” Nathan looked surprised and hurriedly blocked it with his shield. Unlike the sword on his arm, the power of the blade coming from his foot was lesser. He didn’t know whether it was due to him maintaining the pole or not.

Still, one thing was clear. ‘Is this guy for real? Is he a genius or something? Normally, people would use their two hands to control their ena, but this guy is able to use both hands and one foot… No, the other foot might also release something. In other words, this guy is able to maintain control over the four limbs. Does he have a brain in his lower body or something?’

Nathan fully understood what kind of man he was facing. In fact, he realized he was extremely lucky when he fought against the Black Cat. The grandmaster he fought wasn’t a fighter or support.

As a result, the battle could end much more smoothly.

If she were someone like Alan, he would have either revealed his beasts or called Sonia for help.

Nathan smirked. Although this guy was his enemy, he was truly blessed to fight him. Thanks to him, he realized he had become too arrogant. There were a lot of strong opponents in this world, even one at his level.

‘Now that I think about it, it truly doesn’t make sense. Almost all novels have their main characters be able to fight someone stronger than them, which I have been trying to replicate by adding things to my repertoire. I thought that was the key to it.

‘However, my thought was too arrogant. Just like how I had a lot of abilities in my repertoire, other people also mastered their power to a certain degree.

‘I might be able to advance with such a thought to a certain level, but after that level, each person has their own specialized ability, which makes them unique and strong.

‘Let me change my mindset with this battle.’ Nathan took a deep breath and summoned five spheres identical to the sphere that Alan created.
