Chapter 3659: Where To Go

Chapter 3659: Where To Go

In the Tianyuan Megaverse, countless insects filled a universe, the swarm continuing on without end.

This was not happening in just a single parallel universe, as it was repeating endlessly throughout multiple universes.

The number of insects continued to rise, and they were slowly devouring one universe after another.

In the Origin Universe, a gloomy atmosphere shrouded the Heavens Sect. People were constantly coming and going. Cultivators were covered with bloodstains and numb expressions on their faces. It was a stark contrast to the day that Boundless had departed.

People were feeling as if they had returned to the days of war against Aeternus.

In the Heavens Sect’s main hall, Great Elder Shan Gu reproached himself. “This is all my fault. I actually forgot something so important. The Nests don’t just breed insects, they can also serve as an anchor point.””

Yu Leng had been the only person in the Tianyuan Megaverse with a Nest for a time, but he had never been caught. Eventually, he had succeeded in producing a Verdant Sage from his Nest. The moment that creature emerged, Nests had become increasingly prevalent throughout the entire megaverse. Eventually, it seemed as though the entire megaverse had been overturned with Nests scattered throughout it. An unstoppable insect crisis had arrived.

Despite the Heavens Sect’s relentless efforts to destroy the Nests, it was impossible to purge all of the insects from every parallel universe in a short amount of time.

There was never a shortage of individuals with dark intentions who were willing to use the Nests for their own advantage. It took just a few short years for the insects to spread throughout countless parallel universes.

This wave of Nests had developed incredibly quickly. If Lu Yin had been present, he would have noticed it immediately.

The temporal reversion had caused everyone else to forget about their thirty-seven year campaign to eradicate all the Nests, but Lu Yin still remembered.

No one had expected the Nests to develop at an accelerated pace.

Lu Yuan softly commented, “This isn’t your fault. Even if we had remembered, what of it? There would have always been Nests hiding in the shadows, and a Verdant Sage would have inevitably appeared. We simply don’t know how powerful this one is.”

Shan Gu said, “Back in our own megaverse, Nests could anchor themselves to a set of spatial coordinates. I had assumed that it could only be done within our megaverse. I never expected it would work even beyond it.”

“That is the power of an Immortal. To those who have reached that realm, we are mere mortals,” Ancient God said. He had personally experienced the terror of Master Qing Cao. The man possessed unfathomable might, and no power in the megaverse could touch him. He was capable of erasing Ancient God without even touching the man. It was a miraculous ability.

Lord Xu stepped forward. “It’s my turn now. We don’t have a choice. With this crisis involving the Nests before us, we must either resolve it or escape.”

That said, the man left the Heavens Sect.

There was no need to bother searching for the insects any longer, as they had filled countless parallel universes. There were simply too many of them, and they had even appeared in the Origin Universe. While eliminating the insects was simple, the trouble was that they would instantly reappear afterwards.

In Whitecloud City, Jiang Feng had achieved a mobile state; he could move about and even skillfully avoid living creatures, though he could not avoid inanimate objects.

He would walk into tables, stools, walls, and so on, but he would step around living creatures.

Liu Pianran and the others grew excited at this development, as it indicated that Jiang Feng was progressing in a positive direction. They did not care if his cultivation was restored, as they merely wanted the man to regain normal functionality.

It was as if he was somewhere between being blind and being able to see.

In the Mirari Realm, Wei Nu strolled along the banks of the River of Aeons. She could vaguely make out a small boat drifting along the river in the distance carrying Zhao Ran.

Step by step, Wei Nu followed the River of Aeons until she finally arrived at its end. This was not the true end of the River of Aeons, as it had no end. Instead, it was instead the end of the river that had been anchored.

Mister Mu had used Origin Tracer to anchor the River of Aeons to the Tianyuan Megaverse, effectively permanently locking the Mirari Realm to the megaverse.

While it sounded simple, it was beyond even Lu Yin’s current ability.

Time was considered one of the greatest powers. Anyone who mastered it could turn decay into wonder and even reverse all that had come to pass. And Mister Mu—he had anchored time itself.

Spellbound, Wei Nu stared at the end of the River of Aeons. “To fix the Mirari Realm in place... that should be a feat reserved for an Immortal. Even then, not every Immortal might be capable of such a thing. Just how powerful was that old man at his peak? Beneath the Immortal realm, there would have been none who could rival him. What a pity.”

After staring for a long while, Wei Nu eventually sat down. She did not leave.

In one of the Tianyuan Megaverse’s parallel universes, Skydog swiped with his claws, tearing the void open and annihilating numerous insects.

Some distance away, Forgotten Ruins God and Wang Xiaoyu were similarly working to exterminate the insects.

“This isn’t working. There are just too many! How long do we need to keep killing them? Why are there so many?” Forgotten Ruins God lamented wearily.

Wang Xiaoyu silently continued to kill insects.

Skydog worked tirelessly.

Forgotten Ruins God glanced around the nearby universe. These insects were not very strong, but their numbers were so overwhelming that one’s scalp would go numb. Their group had avoided the temporal reversion, and they were quite familiar with the methods by which the Heavens Sect had exterminated the insects in the branch stream of the River of Aeons. Things had not been nearly as troublesome at that time. While Lu Yin and a large number of experts were no longer present, and even Yong Heng and the people from Spirit Nidus were similarly absent, the Heavens Sect’s current power was more than enough to eliminate the insects before their numbers snowballed. How could they have developed so quickly?

“Stop fighting. Let’s go hide,” Forgotten Ruins God announced.

Wang Xiaoyu looked over. “When these insects fill the entire megaverse, there won’t be anywhere to hide.”

Forgotten Ruins God giggled. “No, there won’t, but it won’t be long before we leave this megaverse. The Heavens Sect won’t be able to hold on, and when they’re overwhelmed by these insects, they’ll have no choice but to escape. Their only possible refuge is the Spirit Nidus.

“All we need to think about is how to blend in with the refugees and escape with them at that time, hehe.”

Wang Xiaoyu looked away and peered into the distance. These insects were endless and ferocious. She could not help but wonder what the ultimate fate of this megaverse would be.

“What a pity, this Tianyuan Megaverse,” Forgotten Ruins God remarked wistfully.

...

At the same time, in a valley in the Spirit Nidus’s Roaming South Realm, Lu Yin was ignorant of the fact that three more domains had been destroyed. Had Master Qing Cao not appeared, the High Seraph might have been forced to attack Lu Yin.

Boundless had gone to the Ark Domain, and Ru Guo had returned empty-handed. Lu Yin was very curious to see what Yue Ya would do next.

Still, curiosity did not prevent him from extracting more karmic bricks.

He continued his efforts until Jiu Xian returned.

Lu Yin stared at the woman sitting and drinking in the courtyard, speechless. “Weren’t you leaving?”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“Aren’t you searching for Yong Heng?”

“I can’t find him.”

“Go back and look again. You’ll definitely find him.” With that, Lu Yin took out his spirit cloudstone with the intention of contacting Yong Heng and having him return to the Wisdom Domain. What would he accomplish if Jiu Xian lingered? How would he be able to continue collecting more karmic bricks?

Jiu Xian glanced over. “This is my home, so why does it sound like you want to drive me out of my home?”

Lu Yin dismissed the accusation away with a wave of his hand. “Of course not. I’m just worried for you. I also have a grudge against Feng Bo. If you find him, slap him twice for me. I’ll thank you for that.”

Jiu Xian drank deeply of her wine. “I can’t find him. I’m not going to keep looking as I’m exhausted.”

Exasperated, Lu Yin collapsed onto a recliner. “Hand.”

Almost reflexively, Qing Yun stretched out her hand.

Unfazed, Jiu Xian remarked, “If you like her, I’ll marry her off to you.”

The comment startled Qing Yun, and she pursed her lips as she nervously stared at Jiu Xian.

Qing Xiao instantly spoke up to object. “Jiu Xian, how could you let my sister marry such a scoundrel?”

Lu Yin looked over at the man, and Qing Xiao coughed. “This man is Boundless’s Third Boss! No, absolutely not!”

Jiu Xian lazily replied, “So what? He takes advantage of your sister every day. If she doesn’t marry him, then who can she marry? Seraph Lu, you need to take responsibility.”

“I’m not responsible,” Lu Yin bluntly retorted.

Qing Yun angrily snatched her hand back. She wanted to tell Lu Yin off. Was he looking down on her? Still, she could not help but feel like something about the situation was off. No matter how she considered the matter, it looked like she was being treated as an abandoned bride. She had not been abandoned! Pah, I never intended to marry the bastard in the first place!

Lu Yin arched a brow as he looked at Qing Yun. “Hand.”

Qing Yun snorted, but she ultimately did not dare to refuse. Her hand stretched back out.

Qing Xiao wailed, “Sister, you haven’t fallen for him, have you?”

“No! Shut up!” Qing Yun glared at Qing Xiao.

Jiu Xian cackled. “I told you! You once said that it wouldn’t be bad if your sister married him, so why the change of heart?”

Qing Xiao's face fell. "I never thought he could be so—"

Lu Yin shot him a look.

Qing Xiao instantly licked his lips and changed tack. "—so Boundless."

"Boundless?"

"Yes, incredibly Boundless."[1]

Recently, the Spirit Nidus saw Boundless as little better than a gang of thugs. Lu Yin’s growing notoriety, paired with how Boundless had seized resources across the megaverse, had left a deep impression. Their name had become synonymous with forceful appropriation.

Still, Lu Yin did not mind. The more Boundless was scorned, the more powerless others were to stop them.

Learning more details about the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had placed a heavy weight on LU Yin’s heart, and he was also left questioning how things would turn out.

He and the others from the Tianyuan Megaverse had never intended to leave the Spirit Nidus alive. What could be a graver fate than death?

If they died, the Tianyuan Megaverse would be reset. Given all that Lu Yin had learned, it was possible that it would be reset by the Nine Odysseys Megaverse instead of the Spirit Nidus.

It was even possible that the contest between the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Lesser Sancti to become one of the Greater Sancti might instead offer a turning point.

“It’s useless to stay here with me. You already know everything that you should know. Don’t think that staying here will actually allow you to drag Lady Dan Jin into this mess. That’s simply impossible,” Jiu Xian commented as she sipped more wine.

Lu Yin was curious about something. “What kind of person is this Lady Dan Jin that you follow?”

Jiu Xian continued drinking by herself. “You should already know the name of the Lesser Sancti, no?”

“The High Seraph, Yue Ya, Dan Jin, Xing Fan, and the Ru family.”

“Xing Fan? Who told you that name?” Jiu Xian glared at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin chuckled. “You’re testing me.”

When Jiu Xian had returned to the Roaming South Realm last time, she had informed Lu Yin that Yue Ya was the one targeting him. Before that, Lu Yin had known that Xing Fan had forced Emperor Wu to attempt to lure him to the Morrow Behemoth’s hand. That was the moment that Lu Yin had learned of Yue Ya’s existence.

Jiu Xian had never once mentioned Xing Fan.

“I believe that you’ve teamed up with Yong Heng. He has Feng Bo, and Feng Bo knows a bit about the situation in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. That’s the only way you could have learned about Xing Fan. There’s no other way for you to know that name,” Jiu Xian mused.

Lu Yin denied nothing.

“Where is Feng Bo?” Jiu Xian demanded.

Lu Yin shrugged. “I don’t know.”

Jiu Xian stared at Lu Yin for a long time. “As long as Feng Bo isn’t already dead, I will continue to watch for Yong Heng. Since you are willing to use me, aren’t you unafraid that I might sabotage your plans?”

Lu Yin gave the woman a warm smile. “What are our plans?”

“At the very least, Yong Heng can’t deceive Yue Ya,” Jiu Xian replied.

Lu Yin was taken aback. “Why would he want to deceive Yue Ya?”

Jiu Xian drank more wine. “The Ru family has been destroyed, and Ru Guo was forced out against his will. He attacked you because of Yue Ya.”

“Is that so?”

“Don’t try to put on this act in front of me. I’m certain that you’re working with Yong Heng, and that Yue Ya is still unaware of that fact. He probably even believes that you are assuming that Ru Guo attacked Boundless to avenge Ru Mu.” The woman then looked over at Lu Yin. “If Yue Ya discovers that you’re cooperating with Yong Heng, what do you think he’ll do?

“He has no one else that he can use here in the Spirit Nidus. Can you stop a Lesser Sancte?”

A slow smile spread across Lu Yin’s face, his eyes glinting with unfathomable depth. “Who says I’m trying to stop him?”

1. Qing Xiao initially begins to insult Lu Yin with something like “so shameless” (那么无...), but he’s cut off by Lu Yin’s sharp glance. Under pressure, he awkwardly pivots mid-sentence, twisting the phrase into a pun by praising Lu Yin as “so Boundless” (那么无疆), referencing the name of Lu Yin’s battleship and faction. It’s a comical dodge meant to save face and avoid Lu Yin’s wrath. ☜
