Chapter 924: New Class

Author: The long-awaited return to Thalorind is coming tomorrow. I hope you’ll enjoy what little remains of the primordial domain.

“So tell me, what class did this rude little brat get, hmm?”

“I’ll tell you! I swear I will!” Feng screamed, squirming. “JUST STOP THIS TORTURE!”

“Hmm…”

Quinlan’s fingers slowed and finally stilled, still resting lightly on her sides as if ready to get back into it at a moment’s notice. He tilted his head to the side in contemplation.

Feng, pinned halfway across his lap like a caught rabbit, didn’t move a muscle. She knew better. Trying to escape would just encourage him to start up again.

Instead, she carefully glanced back at him over her shoulder, wide eyes glistening with hope, silently begging the heavens that her offer would be enough to make it stop.

Quinlan’s grin only widened, feral and gleeful as he sighed weakly, admitting defeat. “I am a power junkie…. I can’t fight the temptation to know what upgrade you got.

He leaned in just a fraction further, that damned smirk practically glowing on his face as he theatrically lifted his hands from her sides. “You shall live, Feng Jiai. For now.”

Feng huffed, cheeks puffed out in indignation. “Tch!”

She scoffed and muttered something about tyrants and demons under her breath, wiggling out of his lap with the grace of a cat that’s both furious and pretending not to be flustered.

With an exaggerated “hmph!” she stalked over to the chair Quinlan had originally been sitting in, the one he’d launched from in his sneak attack, and threw herself into it like a scorned empress. She plopped down hard, her rear bouncing once before she adjusted herself with regal flair, spine straightening as she crossed one leg over the other with sharp poise.

Then, lifting her wine glass with a dramatic air of sophistication, she mimicked Mearie’s elegant sipping pose—down to the pinky lift—and took a long, steady drink.

All while glaring absolute death at Quinlan over the rim.

He just chuckled.

Feng didn’t dignify him with any further words on the topic, knowing he would just have a blast messing with her.

Instead, she turned her attention inward, letting her mind slip into the systemic interface. At long last, the screen she’d been too scared—and too distracted—to look at before finally greeted her.

[You have awakened a new class!]

✨ GREMLORD OF CHAOS ✨

A class born from mischief, meddling, and an instinctive disrespect for the established laws of probability.

Feng blinked. Once. Twice.

“G-Gremlord?! What the hell is that?!”

Quinlan instantly burst into laughter so hard he slapped his knee.

“The Soul Records didn’t miss this time, that’s for sure!” he wheezed amid two bursts of laughter. “I already knew it long before, but you’re a certified chaos creature now, you damned brat!”

Feng’s face turned beet red, her jaw slack with disbelief. Her wine glass wobbled dangerously in her hand, but she managed to set it down before launching her deadliest glare as of yet at him. A glare packed full of future promises. Promises such as, ’just you wait… once I’m strong enough…’

“I hate you so incredibly much…” she muttered through gritted teeth, while eyeing her crush of a lifetime nearly dropping to his floor amid his mad laughter at her expense. How incredibly rude could this guy get? Why did she have such horrible taste in men?

Unlike her self-proclaimed—and infuriatingly smug—future husband, the two primordial mothers were far kinder souls.

“Oh, don’t let rude boys get to you, sweetheart… You know how they are when they’re young…” Mearie cooed, giving Feng a reassuring smile.

“It sounds like a perfect class to me. Unconventional. The element of surprise is often worth more than raw power alone.” Luminara added, her tone warm and sincere. “Try inspecting it. There should be a description to further explain its functions.”

Still burning with embarrassment, Feng huffed before she did as told, focusing inwardly on the class window. The details shimmered into view before her.

✨ GREMLORD OF CHAOS ✨

[Class Type: Support / Disruption / RNG-Aligned]

Class Summary:

[Gremlord of Chaos thrives on unpredictability, turning random chance into twisted opportunity. It offers powerful support tools, disruptive battlefield influence, and inconsistent luck-based skills with outcomes ranging from absurd successes to unbelievable failures.]

[You are not a hero. You are not a villain.]

[You are the gremlin in the machine.]

“…I don’t know whether to be insulted or impressed…” she muttered under her breath, uncertainty etched across her features.

“insulted? You’re the dice goblin now, it’s perfectly fitting,” Quinlan replied to her whispers.

“Just you wait…” Feng promised, completely ignoring the amused smiles of the two mothers beside her.

“Oh dear,” Mearie whispered to Luminara, both of them now staring at her with new light in their eyes.

“She really does have a daughter’s energy,” Luminara murmured, dreamily clasping her hands. “Not another daughter-in-law. No. A daughter. One of our own.”

“I love her already.”

Feng twitched, clearly hearing every word, but found herself too overwhelmed to retaliate against that level of affection.

Serika, meanwhile, was laughing her heart out.

She had planned to keep scrolling through her system to check the next set of unlockable spells, but now she was completely absorbed by the sight before her.

The chaos. The familial warmth. The nonsense. The ridiculousness.

And Quinlan—laughing freely, glowing in this place that clearly adored him.

Her smile softened, eyes lingering.

’He really did find himself an incredible family,’ she thought again. ’And they’ve found someone worth cherishing too.’

But just as she leaned back in her chair…

A sudden weight crashed into her chest like a fist empowered by a colossal amount of qi.

The wine glass in her hand trembled.

She saw Quinlan’s gleaming eyes and Feng’s flushed, laughing face… but it all blurred for a moment. In the next breath, her vision dimmed. Not from danger, but from sorrow.

What was she doing here?

Drinking rich vampire wine. Laughing at jokes. Chit-chatting about her new powers and watching Feng get bullied as usual.

When her sister’s corpse lay cold and sealed in Quinlan’s soul realm…

And her father, the great Rykar, hadn’t spoken a word since her passing, still kneeling, meditating beside the body, as if he simply couldn’t bear existence itself any longer.

Her hands tightened around the glass. Her chest ached. Her breath hitched.

A hot tear slipped down her cheek.

She tried to wipe it away discreetly.

She failed utterly, for not only was she no longer dealing with non-mortals, but… There were two ultra-motherly creatures in the room with her.
