MY WEREWOLF SYSTEM

Chapter 1213 - 1213: Holding Back (Part 1)

“Me?” Gary immediately responded out of shock. Although Austin did finish his match, and there was a fifty-fifty chance he would be selected, he still wasn’t quite ready for what he would do.

And for some reason, he thought he would be selected last. It was the usual type of thing, right? The leader fighting last, but then again, these people had no idea who he was in the first place.

“Yes, you, it looks like you are as spineless as you look,” Saiber commented. “If you are stunned about this, then what are you going to be like out there.”

Saiber shook his head as he walked over to where Pluto was standing. He had repositioned himself back to the starting point he was in before.

“Don’t go too easy on this one. We need to show Blackjack that his apprentices aren’t that special.”

Pluto understood the assignment as he watched Saiber walk off to join Trixie, and Gary enter in the same spot Austin was in.

“You think he’ll do okay?” Austin asked, leaning over slightly to Kai.

“I’m not too sure,” Kai answered. “You know the more I think about it, the more I realize that your weapon was probably the best choice. With how advanced our own powers are, just swinging things makes us almost look like an expert.

“On top of that, there’s no need for us to hold back in where we truly excel, hand-to-hand combat where it might be obvious we’re not exactly normal, and there’s something else that’s been bugging me, it’s how he was able to cut that chain.

“If he can do that, it also means that even by accident there is a way he can hurt us.”

The last intentional attack on Austin, Kai had seen it, he had seen Gary’s fingers flinch, almost as if he was ready to jump in if he was hurt, and Kai would have easily followed as well.

Even if this was an important mission, they the Howlers were not to be messed with, by the Altered hunters or the ones that were hiding behind this whole mess in the first place.

Gary held onto the weapon with both hands across his chest as he looked forward.

“The first thing an Altered hunter must have is a good head on his shoulders,” Pluto claimed. “You had the choice of all these weapons, yet you picked something that is far too big for you. Even your friend with his large size and strength didn’t pick such a foolish weapon!”

Pluto this time was the one that had charged forward first with the sword, and he raised it above clearly striking.

Immediately Gary lifted both of his hands and blocked the strike with the center of the weapon.

Quickly after striking from above, Pluto then went to strike from the side and Gary hardly moved the weapon still with both hands holding the handle and had used the handle part to block the strike.

‘I have to be careful, I can’t move too fast, and I can’t use too much strength!’ Gary thought. ‘But I haven’t even had the chance to swing this thing yet, how am I meant to know exactly what is too much strength.’

Pluto continued the attacks, and Gary was stepping back, still blocking with the handle part of his warhammer.

“Look at this fool,” Saiber commented. “I guess it’s to be expected that there was one talented one among them, and that there would also be those that were useless. He has just been using the weapon like it’s some type of staff this entire time.”

While Gary was blocking the attacks he could hear Saiber talking as well, and he knew it wasn’t good news. Reacting to it, he had decided to strike.

Gary swung the weapon in a circle above his head. He thought back to one of the moves that the game had used, and then using the momentum he swung it down to hit Pluto.

‘But I have to hold back!’ Gary thought.

As the heavy head of the hammer, the flat end had crashed into the ground. It had made a thud, barely leaving a marking in the dirt.

Pluto had moved out of the way easily, and went to strike again. Gary quickly dodged the attack, rolling away and picking up his weapon holding it with both hands again.

“So you do one attack with that thing and that’s your attack?” Pluto claimed. “You made it quite obvious what you were going to do, and an Altered hunter would easily take advantage of that.”

“This is useless, it’s clear this is the type of person that is going to slow us down,” Saiber commented and it looked like he wanted to end the fight.

“Hey!” Blackjack shouted out. “Is it just me or have you not noticed something. My apprentice hasn’t even been hit. He’s blocked every single one of your attacks, and if he was as open as you said he was, then why hasn’t he been hit?”

Kim raised an eyebrow as she heard Blackjack speak. Although they were part of the mission she was surprised to see him stick up for the boy.

‘Is it because he’s the most crucial to the mission according to the king? I guess he sees this task as more important than he usually would,’ She thought.

Saiber was grinding his teeth as he heard Blackjack’s words. It wasn’t as if he could deny his claims.

“Right right, and we all know that Pluto has been going easy on the boy as well. I guess it’s time to stop playing games,” Saiber said as he nodded toward Pluto.

Pluto swung his sword by the handle and firmed his grip.

“You better learn how to use that weapon, and fast,” Pluto claimed.
