64 Give a Lift

Zhang Li Xue stared at the ball and heaved a long sigh. Their team was leading, but unexpectedly, Bai Qi shot a three-pointer and won the game.

Knowing that her team had lost with only a point difference made her a little disappointed. However, Zhang Li Xue could not deny that Bai Qi was good at basketball.

Her gaze shifted to the tall man who was celebrating with Qi Zheng and Qi Yang.

Initially, Qi Yang did not have much hope for Bai Qi. However, seeing his performance made him admire his father’s student a little more.

Qi Yue walked over to Zhang Li Xue’s side and patted her hand gently. “Sister Li Xue, don’t be sad.”

The little girl’s consolation words made her chuckle.

Qi Yue was trying to coax her while looking unhappy that their team had lost the game.

Zhang Li Xue leaned over and patted the girl’s head. “I’m not sad. A match is like this. You don’t always win. When you lose, you have to accept it. At least, you should know that you have done your best. We have done our best, haven’t we?”

The girl was consoled by her words and her expression lifted up.

.....

“Alright, you have played for a while, how about drinking some water?”

Hearing the voice, the Qi’s siblings ran over to their mother and started to drink the water that their mother had prepared. Yun Shu saw that everyone was playing basketball happily and had prepared some water for them.

After running around for a while, they should replenish the water in their bodies.

Zhang Li Xue took two drinking bottles and handed one over to Bai Qi. “Doctor Bai, congratulations. I did not expect that you would be very good at basketball.”

The man smiled sheepishly at her compliment.

This was the person who had taught him how to play basketball. Hearing the compliment coming from her made him feel very good. At least, all his hard work paid off.

“Did you often play basketball?” Zhang Li Xue asked.

“Mostly during high school,” Bai Qi admitted. “Once I got into college, I didn’t have much time to play as much as I wanted to.”

He took medicine as his major and was busy with his study. Afterward, he did not have much time to join the basketball club as he used to do in high school.

But of course, Bai Qi had never neglected his training. Whenever he had free time, he would often practice his skills.

Bai Qi lowered his gaze and looked at the girl’s ankle. “Is your ankle alright?”

Zhang Li Xue followed his gaze and laughed. “Mmm... It’s alright. It doesn’t hurt when I jump around.”

The two of them did not get a lot of chance to chat as Qi Yang came over and started to admire Bai Qi. The boy was curious about some move he made earlier and wanted to ask for Bai Qi’s tips.

After drinking some water, Zhang Li Xue followed Qi Yue to her room and freshened up.

When she came downstairs again, Zhang Li Xue saw that her Uncle Qi Zheng and his wife were with Bai Qi in the living room. From the look of it, they seemed to be sending off Bai Qi to the door.

Qi Zheng turned when he heard her footsteps and his eyes brightened up the moment he saw Zhang Li Xue. “Li Xue, are you heading back as well?”

“Un. I’ve stayed long enough. Uncle Qi Zheng, Auntie Yun, I have to leave now.”

“Then, do you mind helping me to send Bai Qi to his place?” Qi Zheng spoke. “His apartment is nearby the hospital. Since you’re going home, you should pass by his area.”

Yun Shu heard his husband’s words and raised a brow. She suddenly thought that her husband was planning something. However, she could not detect anything from his expression.

Bai Qi could not hide his surprise upon hearing his mentor’s words. “Doctor Qi, there is no need. I already call a driver.”

Zhang Li Xue shifted her gaze to Bai Qi and smiled. “Doctor Bai, if you don’t mind, I can give you a lift.”

Qi Zheng turned to his student again and patted his shoulder. “Since Li Xue will be passing by your area, she could send you back. Don’t spend some money and call the driver.”

Bai Qi began to hesitate. He actually would love it if he could spend a little more time with Zhang Li Xue. However, he was a little worried that he would seem anxious to get close to her.

“Then, it is decided,” Qi Zheng said.

Seeing that Zhang Li Xue did not seem to mind, Bai Qi finally agreed.

After exchanging a few words with the Qi couple, Bai Qi followed Zhang Li Xue to her AUDI and hesitated.

“Just sit at the front,” Zhang Li Xue said as she stuffed a few bags that her Auntie Yun had passed to her at the back. She watched as the young doctor slid into the passenger’s seat and smiled.

Zhang Li Xue thought that Bai Qi was a little awkward.

She entered the driver’s seat and drove away.

Bai Qi stole a few glances at the girl and heaved a sigh. He did not think that he would have many opportunities to get close to this girl. But now that they were alone in the car, Bai Qi could not help but feel a little strange.

Fortunately, the radio was turned on and they could avoid any awkward atmosphere. He did not know how he should talk to her.

A faint smile curled on his lips.

The little fairy in his memory had already grown up. But he could still see that she had remained the same. She was still that innocent and happy-go-lucky girl that he used to know.

“You still haven’t told me.”

Zhang Li Xue’s voice snapped him out of his trance. He turned to the girl and caught her smiling at him. “Tell you what?” He was still trying to adjust to being so close to her and thought that perhaps he had missed something.

“Your address,” Zhang Li Xue said. “Uncle Qi Zheng only mentioned that you live closer to the hospital. But I still need your address.”

Bai Qi thought of the place he lived in and hesitated. “It’s fine. You can just drop me at the hospital. Coincidentally, I have some documents that I need to look at.”

Zhang Li Xue could tell that Bai Qi was not telling her the truth. But since she did not know him that well, she decided not to probe. “Alright.”
