Chapter 755

Bear-san Playing in the River

Kagali-san asked me about Bear Contract Magic, but I didn’t know much about it, so it was hard for me to fake it as a natural magic.

“It’s a wonder that such a magic circle can be activated.” (Kagali)

Kagali-san tried to imitate the bear magic circle, but it did not activate.

It seemed that the bear magic circle would not activate without my magic power.

Like it was a magic circle specially tailored only for me.

“There must be a mechanism built in somewhere that prevents it from being activated unless it is your magic.” (Kagali)

“How is that possible?” (Yuna)

“It must be a magic circle created only for you.” (Kagali)

“Well, I don’t know about that, but…” (Yuna)

“If you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t ask. Magic has a way of identifying individuals after all.” (Kagali)

“It would be similar to the way it identifies you when you enter the area where the sacred tree is located.” (Mumroot)

Mumroot-san added to Kagali-san’s explanation.

It certainly made sense now that Mumroot-san mentioned it.

Only some people, such as Mumroot-san and Sanya-san, were allowed to enter the area where the sacred tree was located.

“As an application of that restriction, the island where only certain people could enter, used magic power to judge if the person who was about to enter was male or female.” (Kagali)

After being told by both of them, I understood that bear magic circles could not be used by others.

It appeared that God created bear magic circles exclusively for me so that they wouldn’t be abused.

The bear equipment, the Bear Transfer Gate, and the Bear Phone were also all exclusive to me.

Considering this, it was not strange that bear magic circles were also exclusive to me.

It may be a measure to prevent abuse of the bear magic circles even if they were known by others.

Then, leaving Kagali-san behind, who wanted to continue checking magic circles at Mumroot-san’s house, I left Mumroot-san’s house alone to check on Fina and the others.

Now then, where were Fina and the others?

Oh, right, all of them knew about the Bear Phone.

The only problem was that if there was someone around them who didn’t know about the Bear Phone, they wouldn’t be able to use it.

If that was the case, I might not receive a reply fast. For now, I also moved to a place where no one would see me take out the Bear Phone.

After finding a good spot, I channeled magic power so that it connected to the Bear Phone that Fina had.

Then, Fina’s voice was heard from the Bear Phone immediately.

[Yuna Onee-chan?] (Fina)

“Fina, where are you?” (Yuna)

She seemed to be in a place where she could answer using the Bear Phone.

[I’m near the river.] (Fina)

A river… then I knew where they were.

“I’m on my way, don’t move away.” (Yuna)

I hung up the call and headed for Fina and the others.

I have been to that river before. A little further on, there was also a waterfall, and that was where I put the Bear House when I first came to the elf village.

I had a fond memory of being attacked by a Volgwrath at that time.

When I reached the river, I used my detection skill.

There was a reaction of people, as well as Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.

It looked like it’s just up ahead.

I moved to their location on a short run.

…found them.

“Yuna-san~!” (Noa)

Noa was waving her hand in the air.

Shuri also started waving her hand as if imitating Noa. Misa and Sakura were smiling at them, and Fina looked happy.

Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear were also making “kuun” noises.

Shinobu seemed to be doing her job as an escort.

“Were you playing in the river?” (Yuna)

“Yes.” (Noa)

Everyone gathered around me.

Shinobu-san threw a stone, and it bounced on the river.

“Stones bouncing?” (Yuna)

“Yes. The stones bounce around a lot.” (Noa)

“They don’t sink into the river.” (Yuna)

“When we tried it, the stones just sank in the water without bouncing.” (Noa)

I have seen this on TV and the internet.

Was it called stone skipping?

The one where you throw a stone into a river or lake and the stone bounces on the water.

“It was dangerous to play in the river, so I taught them.” (Shinobu)

“Shinobu, you are not using magic, right?” (Noa)

“Nope.” (Shinobu)

“That’s a lie. How could a stone bounce on the water?” (Noa)

Apparently, the ladies here didn’t know how to play the stone skipping.

Well, Sakura, Noa, and Misa were real ladies, so it kind of made sense that they did not know how to play the stone skipping.

Meanwhile, Fina and Shuri had no father, and their mother, Tirumina-san, was sick for quite some time, so I didn’t think they would be able to play such games during that time.

“You don’t know about this as well, Ruimin?” (Yuna)

“Yes, I don’t know.” (Ruimin)

Even Ruimin shook her head.

“Well, Yuna, would you like to try it too?” (Shinobu)

Shinobu then threw a stone into the river.

The stone bounced over the river about six times before sinking into the river.

“I’m not going to lose to Yuna on this one.” (Shinobu)

I didn’t mind losing, though.

When I saw Shinobu’s smug face, I wanted to defeat her.

But I’ve never played stone skipping before. I wasn’t the kind of kid who played in the river.

I also didn’t have any friends who would invite me.

And I felt sad when I thought about this.

Well, I didn’t think girls would go to the river to play stone skipping anyway.

It was a boy’s game.

Anyway, what I have never done before in my previous life, I was going to do it in another world.

Although I had no real world experience of stone skipping, I did participate in online game events featuring stone skipping contests in my previous life.

It was a contest to see how many times your stone bounced.

One was given 100 points, which could be freely assigned to strength, speed, and luck in any manner.

Beginners were also able to place high, so this event was quite popular.

I tried it myself, but it was an event where those with real-world experience took the top spots because the arm swing, angle, selection of stone size, weight, shape, and other factors required experience.

I didn’t make it to the top, but I had done my research and participated in the event, so I was able to make the stone bounce quite a lot.

Next, I looked at the stones lying on the ground.

And I knew what kind of stone to use.

Flat stones were good. Round stones like baseballs didn’t bounce.

I found a thin pebble that looked like a disk.

I think this one would be good.

As for how to throw.

Throw the stone horizontally.

I tossed the pebble with my bear puppet’s mouth while leaning it at a good angle towards the river. The pebble left my hand and bounced on the river seven times.

Finally, the pebble sunk into the river.

“Yuna-san, that’s remarkable.” (Noa)

“It bounced more than Shinobu-san.” (Misa)

“Many splashes!” (Shuri)

Noa, Misa, and Shuri were all excited.

“It’s no big deal.” (Yuna)

“Ugh, it’s no big deal. Yuna beat me!” (Shinobu)

Shinobu was depressed.

Oh, what a hassle.

I left the depressed Shinobu alone.

“Yuna Onee-chan, how did you do it?” (Fina)

“Yes, well. The trick is to throw the stone horizontally to the river.” (Yuna)

“Shinobu-san was throwing the stone the same way, so we did the same, but we couldn’t do it.” (Fina)

“Then you will need the right type of stone.” (Yuna)

“Right type of stone?”

I looked at the pebbles lying on the ground.

I picked up one of them.

“A flat stone like this is good.” (Yuna)

I showed her the stone I picked up.

“And if you throw this stone so that it is parallel to the surface of the water as much as possible…” (Yuna)

I threw it again towards the river.

The pebble bounced several times.

“It bounced.” (Noa)

“I didn’t account for the shape of the pebble.” (Misa)

“Yes, me neither.” (Shuri)

“Shinobu, why didn’t you mention that, right?” (Sakura)

Sakura glared at Shinobu with disdain.

“I don’t want you to look at me like that. I just wanted everyone to praise me.” (Shinobu)

“If you had told us properly, we would have praised you.” (Sakura)

“Ugh.” (Shinobu)

While Shinobu was drooping, Noa and the others started searching for the right stone.

After each of them found a suitable stone, they started throwing.

“I did it!” (Ruimin)

“It bounced three times!” (Noa)

“It bounced five times.” (Misa)

“Ugh, it bounced twice.” (Shuri)

Ruimin, Noa, Misa, and Shuri threw first, then Fina and Sakura.

“One, two, three, four, five, six…” (Sakura)

“That was six times.” (Fina)

Fina and Sakura’s stones bounced the same number of times.

“One more time.” (Noa)

“Me too.” (Misa)

Noa and the others started looking for suitable stones to try again and threw them into the river again and again.

Then we played in the river and looked at the waterfall. Each time, Noa and the others cheered.

Maybe the daughters of noble families did not have much outdoor experience.

Even Fina and Shuri never went deep into the forest, so I didn’t think they had seen waterfalls before.

By the way, this time we were not attacked by Volgarras and it was peaceful.

After playing in the elf village, we decided to return to the Land of Wa.

On the way there, we retrieved Kagali-san and cancelled Sakura’s Contract Magic.

“Well then, Mumroot, we’ll be back again.” (Kagali)

“Yeah, come back anytime.” (Mumroot)

We returned to the Land of Wa.

Ruimin was with us this time as she wanted to stay with us a little longer.

At everyone’s request, I summoned regular-sized Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, and everyone slept around them.

Since they were to be separated tomorrow, everyone stayed up late into the night chatting happily.

Shuri was the first to fall asleep, and the room grew quiet.

She was probably tired from the river trip.

I went to the window and looked out.

It was quiet.

The lake was beautiful.

“Why aren’t you sleeping?” (Kagali)

“What about Kagali-san?” (Yuna)

Kagali-san came up next to me.

“I just wanted to thank you. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Mumroot, and it’s been fun.” (Kagali)

It made me a little happy to be thanked by Kagali-san.

“Then I’m glad.” (Yuna)

“Maybe next time we can stay for a few days.” (Kagali)

“If you do so, please think of an excuse you could use to fool Suzuran-san with before you go on a trip.” (Shinobu)

Shinobu came into the conversation between Kagali-san and me.

“If Kagali-sama is not here when Suzuran-san arrives, she will be worried.” (Shinobu)

“She worries about me a little too much.” (Kagali)

“That’s how much she cares about Kagali-sama.” (Shinobu)

“Well, if you can cover it up, give me a call. Please let me know and I’ll make a move as well.” (Yuna)

The three adults, Kagali-san in the form of a little girl, me dressed as a bear, and Shinobu dressed as a ninja, talked for a while and then went to bed.

…Yeah, adults.

By the way, I did not remove Shinobu’s Contract Magic.
