Chapter 1146: 1146 Nannies

As if speaking of them had summoned them, there was movement in the side room, and two succubi came out of the room in maid outfits that they had clearly made themselves, as the ones that Wolfe provided were much longer and did not have lace sleeves and side panels to skin.

“Your Majesties. Are the little darlings awake?” One of them asked quietly.

Vlad nodded, and the twins’ eyes zeroed in on the maids, before huge smiles split their faces.

Wolfe laughed. “Yep, one night and it’s already too late. They’re in love. But finding nannies that the children like isn’t always easy, so if they are this fond of the first batch, then Belle will have a much easier time with the staffing situation.”

Belle was the one actually hired as the official nanny, while these ladies were brought from the maid service to assist.

Bella had been willing to try when they had so eagerly offered their services to move from the maid service to Nanny duty, and it had worked out splendidly for them.

They were happy, they got to play with babies all day long, and they didn’t have to clean rooms, or deal with judgmental coworkers who didn’t get fashion.

That had become a small but annoying ongoing issue for the lust demons in the Castle. The majority of the Pentacle members didn’t mind, thought some were still outright scandalized by the fashion sense of some of the demons and Fae.

Especially the Nymphs and the Succubi, who both preferred very little clothing.

If they were given the option, the Nymphs would wear nothing unless it was fully translucent, as they felt weird when they weren’t showing off their bodies. The Succubi were happy as long as they had appropriate shoes on, and between the two of them, they were starting all new winter fashion trends.

This year, it was fashionable lace so that they could technically cover their whole bodies, but still leave most of it showing. The species that needed warmth added layers to it, or spells, and most covered the majority of their body with cloth and put the lace over top, but the lace was definitely the castle fashion of the season.

The nannies took over the care of the little ones, who were mumbling happily in their arms. That left Cassie and Ella to relax for a few moments until Ivan woke up and began demanding Wolfe.

At first, his cries and reaching were interpreted as hungry, but his face remained firmly turned towards Wolfe, and he was uninterested in his mother, no matter how she adjusted him.

“His neck strength is excellent. Most at his age can’t support their head.” Vladimir noted.

“I’m being ignored and used as a mobile kitchen by my own firstborn.” Cassie complained.

“He’s just intrigued by all the new people. I’m sure he will be back to wanting you in a few minutes.” Wolfe quietly informed her with a kiss to the forehead as he claimed the boy.

Having a blanket full of baby in his arms felt very strange, but the victorious cheer that the little one made when he was moved was unmistakable.

Wolfe booped him on the nose, and felt a small draw as the child tried to gather mana for himself.

“I can see this one being trouble.” Vladimir noted as he watched the interaction.

“How is that?” Cassie asked, smiling at the interaction.

“He already understands the concept of drawing mana. That means he’s going to understand the concept of releasing it soon, as it has nowhere to go. So, he’s likely to begin creating small magical disturbances by his first birthday, and if he learns to release it to other people, he will become a born womanizer.” The Vampire informed her very seriously.

“He really is a tiny version of his father.” Ella chuckled with a victorious smirk at Cassie.

Her girls might be trouble, but not Wolfe Noxus level trouble.

Belle came into the room, having been alerted that everyone was awake and accepting visitors, and Ivan immediately honed in on her presence, wanting to go see the new person.

Then he noticed the vampires, and his head began to swivel back and forth.

“I think he’s overloaded. Too many new people at once.” Cassie suggested, offering to take him back.

Wolfe handed him over, and the little man grabbed her dress with one hand, while pointing at the Nanny.

They had the same colour of hair, but Belle was human, and her eyes were green, not bright violet like Cassie’s.

Belle moved to stand closer, and Ivan got a good grip on her dress, then promptly fell asleep.

For a moment, there was silence, then everyone in the room began to laugh.

“That can’t be possible. He doesn’t even understand what is going on around him.” Vladimir laughed.

“But he got a second copy of his mother in his hands, and now he’s out. I wonder if he advanced more than expected in the mental capacity category?”

The vampire shrugged. “It’s not completely impossible. His brain is still developing, but some nonstandard physical modifications do cause increased growth rate. Did you do all your enhancements by the inheritance?”

Wolfe shook his head. “No, I started with them, mostly. But I improvised later when I needed other things that weren’t in the guide. I advanced too fast for the three-year program, so it’s all out of order, and some sections were more thoroughly focused on than others.

Like my physical strength. That might be why he’s got such good motor skills.”

“At least he didn’t inherit any illnesses. We checked very thoroughly after all the oddities, and nothing seems to have caused a negative interaction. Their personalities appear to be coming in faster than expected, though.” Ella added.

“I wonder if it’s an improper application of the growth spell? Natal development and post-natal growth aren’t the same, and if there were any mistakes, they might actually be over developed in some areas. Like the mind or motor skills.” The female vampire whispered as she helped Vlad take notes.

“Pardon?” Cassie asked.

“You didn’t know? I suppose that might have been lost as it is a Rank Three minimum Witch Technique. But I’ve been a midwife for nearly three hundred years now. Speeding up the pregnancy can have some side effects on the early childhood development, but rest assured, it isn’t long term.”

Vladimir nodded. “You’ll just get a very strange set of ages for the early milestones.”
