Chapter 1143: 1143 Quality Of Life

The work to implement the new additions to the employee side of the valley started only two weeks later, after intense consultations between the Pentacle members and the engineers.

They had determined that the design itself was safe enough for the rollercoaster, but they wanted to add a few more things along the way.

First, as they wanted to run the ride near the lake, the designers decided to add a covered area with magic burning grills for proper cookouts. That way, the residents could sit in the shade and enjoy the lake without bringing as much stuff with them.

Then they wanted to add a larger public hot springs area in the worker’s area. There were baths and a public pool, but hot springs were the more adult companion to the water park.

Obviously, they weren’t natural, but by the time that the artisans finished with them, the grotto that fed the water park looked like it was a natural formation, with dozens of small pools, and all sorts of hanging vines for the illusion of privacy.

The Castle area didn’t need much more, but the witches were getting close to their due dates, and everyone from the residents of Forest Grove to the Guardians was excited.

“Wolfe, go help your wife.” Risa laughed as he was getting dressed for the morning.

That should be entertaining, he thought. This close to her due date, their magic had become unreliable, and both witches tended to be in particularly volatile moods when they got up. Either they wanted nobody within fifty metres, or they wanted all the love and affection and couldn’t understand why there was nobody around.

Today was the second sort.

Cassie and Ella were scuffling in the bedroom, arguing about who should be on the right, as Wolfe’s morning greeting started with a forehead kiss from right to left, while the morning hug was shared.

“Ladies, it’s good to see you both so energetic this morning.” Wolfe joked as he stepped out of the shower in just a pair of grey sweatpants.

He hugged his witches, and suddenly, there was a surge of magical power, Ella’s unstable aura crackling against his. But not because she lacked control.

Because she had just had a contraction.

Her face lit up with joy, and she started to shout.

“Risa, get the midwife. It’s started.

Wolfe, shoo. We will come get you when your heir is ready for visitors.” Ella insisted.

Cassie was seen by the oracle to give birth to the firstborn, so she would soon be in labour as well. But the arrangement was something that they had agreed upon months ago.

They didn’t want Wolfe seeing the birthing process, possibly because they couldn’t trust him to be serious through it all, and didn’t want him to look at them differently after.

Every witch had heard the horror stories of husbands who had watched the birthing process never getting back to that pre-pregnancy intimacy, and they weren’t going to take the risk.

With the Demons around, it was an even easier decision, as their tradition was for the husband to keep up the spells on the room from outside while receiving the visitors who came with gifts.

The Demons could sense the birth, as the power of the mother fluctuated wildly, so they would bring baked goods and anything they thought would make the next few days easier.

The first ones to arrive and distract Wolfe were the human girls, and they brought snacks.

They were the youngest of the Pentacle members, and the most eager to see the babies as soon as they were ready.

The labour of a Witch was normally very short when they had any sort of power, as they didn’t have to worry too much about injuries. There were Saint Rank witches in the room with them, and Fae with healing abilities. The process should be relatively smooth, from what Wolfe understood.

“Have you decided on names? I hear that the tradition is that the father names the sons, and the mother names the daughters.” Drider asked as she took a seat across from Wolfe.

“Well, I wanted to name him Asteroid Destroyer, but that idea was shot down.” Wolfe joked.

The girls burst into laughter. “Are you trying to start a civil war when your own firstborn tries to assassinate you?”

Wolfe shrugged. “It would keep life fun. But no, I did come up with a decent name for the firstborn. I was thinking that he should be named Ivan David Noxus. Ivan is my Uncle, the former Patriarch of the Noxus Family in Morgana Fortress. David was Cassie’s grandfather.”

Drazzit smirked. “And she can’t argue with it because both names belong to the boy’s grandfathers. Smart. Many first sons in the Underdark are named the same way, as an homage to their family’s history.”

The girls all nodded, and Jessica looked up from her plate of snacks. “Yes, it is quite common to give the grandfather’s name as a middle name in the Fallen Empire as well. But we always pick a first name that hasn’t been used in a while, so that people don’t get confused about who is who.

Another Ivan Noxus would be confusing if the first was a Duke who had handed down his title, but I think for your family it will be perfect.”

She had a good point. However, Uncle Ivan wasn’t a Magi Patriarch, but a crime boss. The Magi Clan and the Morgana Fortress City were commonly seen as two separate entities now, even though most of the Magi Clan members were men of the Fortress City’s Family.

“What about the other two?” Drazzit asked.

“That is more tricky. I don’t know the gender of the other two, though I am guessing it will be a boy and a girl, as they were described as opposites. I was thinking that Vlad might be a good name if there is a boy.

It’s a good Noxus Family name, and an homage to the last survivor in the Family Home.”

“You wouldn’t name one after yourself?”

Wolfe laughed. “And subject him to a lifetime of unrealistic expectations? No, I’m not that mean.”
