First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1859: Before Spiritual Desolation Mountain

Ten days later.

Deep within the Eastern Sea, the dome of heaven was dark, overcast, and permeated with mist.

Whoosh!

The Sky-Covering Boat appeared out of nowhere with Su Yi and Lin Feng on board.

“It’s been a long, long time since I was last here… So long that I’ve forgotten how long it’s been…” Lin Feng’s gaze was bleak.

A wandering son had returned home, but he was hesitant to approach.

The sight of Spiritual Desolation Mountain only filled his heart with endless grief. Thus, it had been a long time since he’d last visited.

“Does that mean that not even you know how the mountain has changed over the years?” asked Su Yi.

Lin Feng nodded. “Yes, so I recommend against approaching recklessly.”

He felt deeply conflicted. He hoped that after Su Yi entered Spiritual Desolation Mountain, the sight would stir his emotions and give him an opportunity to fuse with the memories of his past life.

But Spiritual Desolation Mountain was so perilous that he worried something would happen to Su Yi.

Su Yi smiled. “I’m very interested in the Dao Manifestation Chaos Stele you told me about, and I too want to see whether I can find anything that stirs the memories of my past life. You need not bother persuading me; I am here because I want to be here.”

After ten days of rest and cultivation, his wounds had fully knit back together. Moreover, just as he expected, he had undergone a transformation akin to rebirth, and he had smoothly reached the pinnacle of the Miracle Realm.

He’d also learned a fair bit about Spiritual Desolation Mountain from Lin Feng, and his curiosity had been piqued. Thus, he decided to take a trip here.

“Then you’d best be careful. I won’t be able to help you once you’ve stepped onto the slopes,” said Lin Feng. He gestured into the distance. “Eight hundred miles into the fog, there’s a tunnel through space. During the Primeval Era, only those on board the Sky-Covering Boat could board it.

“But after Spiritual Desolation Mountain was damaged, everyone who attempts to enter, no matter who they are, is attacked by the Laws of Annihilation that Divine Venerate Tian Huang left behind. None can enter.”

Su Yi nodded.

“If you…” Lin Feng hesitated, then said, “If you run into insurmountable peril, take out the Sky-Covering Boat. I’ll do everything in my power to help you escape!”

Su Yi was stunned, but before he could respond, Lin Feng disappeared into the boat, which rapidly shrank to the size of a walnut and floated in front of Su Yi.

He took the treasure, put it away, and continued deeper into the mist.

When Lin Feng tried to prove his Dao and become a god, the emissaries of Divine Venerate Tian Huang ambushed him, destroying his physical body and almost ending him completely. It was thanks to the Sky-Covering Boat that Lin Feng had managed to cling to life as a soul body. According to Lin Feng, his soul body would be destroyed if he touched the Divine Venerate’s Laws of Annihilation. Thus, even after all this time, he’d never again set foot on Spiritual Desolation Mountain.

But Su Yi had never counted on his help.

Fog permeated the air. Heaven and earth were overcast. The surface of the water was like a mirror; it didn’t even ripple. The silence and stillness were inexplicably oppressive.

Su Yi walked through it all. He encountered no danger along the way.

Not long after, he saw a ten-thousand-foot spatial tear in the distant skies. It was shrouded in dense mist, and as the mists billowed, the tear came in and out of view.

There was no doubt about it. That was the entrance to Spiritual Desolation Mountain!

Su Yi couldn’t help but feel eager. Just what kind of person was Li Fuyou?

The sword-bearing ape had told him that Li Fuyou was the most mysterious and transcendent sword immortal of the Primeval Era.

They said he “wandered with the ancestor of all things, treating things as things, never letting himself become an object!” This was the source of Li Fuyou’s name.

During the Primeval Era, ordinary Immortals had never heard the name Li Fuyou. To them, he was as nameless and unknowable as the Grand Dao.

But to Immortal Sovereigns of the Great Realm, Senior Li Fuyou was an absolutely unparalleled existence. An unfettered immortal freely wandering the heavens and a “ferryman” of the Grand Dao!

He left the Fuyou Boat in the Eastern Sea. Anyone who earned its approval, no matter who they were, could board it and cultivate in Li Fuyou’s seclusion grounds, Spiritual Desolation Mountain. The Tower of Scriptures on Spiritual Desolation Mountain was considered the greatest collection of Daoist canons of the Primeval Era.

In the Primeval Era, Great Realm experts reigned supreme, but Li Fuyou was the only one to transcend the Great Realm altogether!

Even his disciple, Sword Sovereign Lin Feng, saw him as mysterious and above all worldly concerns. He stood proudly over the world, as elusive as a divine dragon.

The Temple Master was the most broad-minded and relaxed of Su Yi’s past lives. Shen Mu was the most talented, and Wang Ye was the most tyrannical. As it turned out, Li Fuyou was the most mysterious and detached.

Everything about him remained a riddle, but now, Su Yi felt that the answers to these riddles were close at hand.

Without any further hesitation, Su Yi proceeded further in.

“Stop!” A grave voice rang out, and a group of figures charged furiously out of the fog-shrouded, ten-thousand-foot spatial tear.

Their leader was an old man with a goatee and a feather coat. His eyes were sunken, and he emanated the characteristic aura of a Great Martial Stage powerhouse!

The others were all Immortal Kings!

In the present-day Immortal Realm, that was a top-notch lineup. They could have intimidated an entire region.

But to the current Su Yi, a group like that wasn’t even worth paying attention to. The only thing that brought him surprise was that he actually recognized them, or at least their uniforms.

“Are you disciples of Jade Firmament Immortal Palace?”

The founder of Jade Firmament Immortal Palace was one of Wang Ye’s enemies, Chu Shentong, known as Immortal Sovereign Sky-Killer!

“You’re quite perceptive.” The old man with the goatee looked Su Yi up and down, his bearing reserved and his voice cold and indifferent. “Our sect has declared this place a forbidden ground. I’ll have to ask you to leave.”

This young stranger’s aura seemed entirely plain and unassuming, but the old man could tell he was an Immortal King. He was obviously no ordinary person. Thus, the old man wasn’t at all disrespectful. Of course, if it had been some random small fry instead, the old man would have slapped him to death and tossed his corpse into the ocean without wasting any time on talk.

Su Yi smiled. “But to the best of my knowledge, this is the entrance to Spiritual Desolation Mountain. It’s not part of the Jade Firmament Immortal Sect’s territory.”

A purple-robed middle-aged man, one of the old man’s companions, said with displeasure, “Are you feigning ignorance? Can’t you see that our sect has laid claim to this place? I urge you to leave as quickly as possible. Don’t bring misfortune upon yourself. Keep pushing, and no matter who you are, you will suffer here today!”

His tone was utterly threatening, but Su Yi just said, “Oh.”

A moment later, he asked, “Are you perhaps working on behalf of Divine Venerate Tian Huang?”

The old man’s eyes suddenly flashed with imposing light. “Who are you? How dare you pry into our sect’s most closely guarded secrets?”

The old man waved his hand through the air. “Seal the place off. Don’t let him escape!”

“Yes, sir!”

The Immortal Kings charged from different directions, sealing Su Yi’s escape routes off on all sides.

Su Yi ignored them completely and smiled as casually as if he were commenting on the weather. “You don’t need to be nervous. Hm, let me guess. Is Divine Son Jin Zhuliu here too?”

The old man was obviously stunned, and he seemed to find this hard to believe. He growled, “Who are you? What have you come here for?”

Boom!

As he spoke, he took a step forward and circulated his Great Martial Stage cultivation base. Terrifying pressure swept outward, locking onto Su Yi.

Su Yi muttered to himself, “It seems it’s just as I thought. You’re here to open the divine prison Divine Venerate Tian Huang left here and release his lackeys.”

He understood. Ten days ago, during his conversation with Lin Feng, he concluded that since Divine Venerate Hao Yu backed Penglai Immortal Island, the divine son they followed, Gongyang Yu, had to be one of the Divine Venerate’s descendants.

He also considered the possibility that a faction backed by Divine Venerate Tian Huang would seek to open the prison on Spiritual Desolation Mountain and release the divine emissaries imprisoned there.

Now, it seemed his hypothesis was a reality. Divine Venerate Tian Huang stood behind Jade Firmament Immortal Palace, and Jin Zhuliu was one of his descendants!

Meanwhile, the old man with the goatee obviously realized that something was amiss, and he attacked in full force.

Boom!

He shot through the air, his hands forming seals that formed a massive jade-colored divine mountain wrapped in raging blue flames.

The surrounding sky collapsed and burned. Heaven and earth were dyed a startling shade of blue-green.

The power of the Great Martial Realm made the nearby Jade Firmament Immortal Palace Immortal Kings gasp, and their hearts shook. The way they looked at Su Yi changed; it was as if he were already dead.

The attacker was one of their sect’s older-generation experts, someone who hadn’t ventured into the outside world in a long, long time. He’d proven his Dao and reached the Great Martial Stage prior to the Age of Fallen Immortals!

But a moment later, something utterly astonishing happened——

The young man, whose defeat they thought was inevitable, stretched out his hand, and the massive, flaming mountain collapsed with a bang.

Immediately afterward, the old man with the goatee was pulled uncontrollably toward the young stranger. He was a Great Martial expert, but he seemed as helpless as a chicken!

“This…” The crowd looked stunned, and their minds went blank. What’s going on? Who said that guy was an Immortal King? That's ridiculous!

“It seems that this place is much like the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea. The Laws of Annihilation covering the mountain obscure the threat of divine misfortune, letting Great Martial Stage cultivators like you attack without fear,” said Su Yi, holding the old man aloft by the throat.

He looked up at the ten-thousand-foot rift in the sky. It was surrounded by calamitous gray fog. It was the power a god had left behind, just like the Magnetic Origin Light.

However, it was even stranger and more unsettling. It affected the entire stretch of sky.

There was no doubt about it. Divine Venerate Tian Huang’s Power of Annihilation was an Epoch Law! A power only gods could possess!

“That aside, perhaps because of the changes Xi Ning sensed, the power of divine misfortune is weakening. Maybe that’s why Great Martial cultivators dare act openly now…” whispered Su Yi.

From beginning to end, he didn’t so much as spare the old man with a goatee a second glance. If he had, he’d have discovered that the old-timer was quivering from head to toe, and terror was written all over his face.

A certain name rose unbidden to his mind.

Su Yi!
