The explosion put Alex in a daze. He could see the two women fly away, leaving behind Windborn, who made his way toward him. He tried to fight again, but his body was limp, ignoring his commands.

Alex’s plan had been simple, albeit based on wishful thinking more than anything. Because he was unable to act while frozen by Fairy Xin, he first needed to undo her grasp on him. Burning away her suppression with his Yang had been, in his opinion, the perfect way to do it.

When it worked, Alex would then use the Spirit Reversal technique to make himself immune to all of her powers. At that point, he would hopefully somehow be able to teleport away or even just do something to notify others of his presence here.

However, what he hadn’t expected was the amount of Qi that would escape out of his body in order to fight the coldness surrounding him. He was still in control at that point, but when Shumi got close, he could feel his body’s attraction toward her. It was unstoppable.

Once their two auras met each other, there was nothing else for Alex to do. Whatever had happened had been out of his control.

Alex still failed to understand the actual cause of the explosion. Why had the mix of their auras acted like this? If their auras hated each other, then why were they attracted to each other?

Alex also found it curious how his thoughts were so clear, and yet everything happening outside was a daze. He could barely figure out what Windborn was doing out there.

He could feel something press against his numb palms before Windborn grabbed his head once again. He placed his own forehead against Alex’s forehead.

The little bit of clarity he did have of the outside world vanished, and he found himself standing atop a sea of murky water underneath an overcast sky.

It was his Spiritual Sea.

"What is this?" someone spoke, a feminine voice.

Alex quickly turned around and found a woman standing next to his Blood Origin. The thing was now half as big as him and had taken the shape of a much younger him, floating in a fetal position with his eyes closed.

Alex looked at the woman who was in his Spiritual Sea with him. She had a head full of black hair, tied up neatly behind her. Her face was fair and beautiful.

However, there was a blue tinge to her entire body, including her skin, which made Alex feel uncomfortable for a moment.

"You must be Windborn," Alex said slowly. "Or whoever was inside of him."

The woman turned around, smiling softly. With her facing him, Alex could see the two bumps on her forehead disappear into her floating hair.

"You’re a demon!"

He should have expected as much, considering who she was in league with, but he was still surprised.

"Call me Sister Dumei," the woman said. "We will be accompanying each other for a while."

Alex was still not over the shock of the entire thing. From meeting Shumi to the explosion, to now this. The day had been too sudden and wildly unexpected. However, he knew now was not the time to let his emotions stop him from acting.

Color blossomed in the world below him, a yellow fog slowly streaming out from underneath the water.

"I have but one question to ask of you. Were you Killersky?" he asked.

The woman smiled. "Yes and no," she said. "Killersky was the same as Windborn, the same as who you are going to be."

Alex frowned. "You take over people’s bodies after killing them?" he asked. He slowly understood why, unlike his guardian, he hadn’t been killed immediately. They wanted his body.

"I don’t immediately kill them, just like I won’t kill you. I need to learn from them to become them. But you are right about everything else. I do take over people’s bodies."

Alex snorted. "That’s all I needed to know."

The yellow fog flew up from the sea, trying to gather around the woman. However, before it could reach her, the woman flicked her wrist.

A massive force of spiritual energy appeared before Alex instantly, smacking him away. The force was so strong that he lost his concentration for a moment, nearly falling unconscious.

He came to almost instantly, but the fog had lowered by then, and the woman had moved forward.

Alex punched toward her, sending out four golden spears flying in her direction. The woman, however, was unimpressed. She waved at the spears, and the spears were destroyed.

Alex could only watch in horror at her strength. Something was wrong here. Something was very wrong.

No Immortal should have been this strong at all. His eyes widened as realization dawned on him.

"You’re a Divine Soul!"

The woman stopped and smiled. "So you realize why resistance is futile, don’t you? Just give up, and it will all be over. You are dying for a good cause anyway."

Alex panicked. Could he fight a Divine Soul? Was he that strong?

The yellow fog jumped up at the woman, but she casually dodged it, arriving next to Alex.

Alex tried to fight back, but she was strong. She grabbed him with her spiritual energy, forcing him to a standstill.

Alex hadn’t realized just how strong she was until now. The woman hadn’t come here as an avatar. She was the actual soul, meaning she had enough Divine energy to fight him.

If Alex couldn’t make use of the yellow fog, then there was no chance of him beating her at all. The woman could fight a dozen of him and still have energy to spare.

Alex struggled still, trying to attack her while pulling on the yellow fog to envelop her.

The woman kept dodging it while striking at him. Her attacks weren’t strong on purpose, but they hurt a lot, and Alex nearly went unconscious three different times.

"Give up!" she shouted as she hit him again. "You won’t suffer."

"No!" Alex grunted, throwing out more spiritual attacks. The sea beneath him got lower and lower as he used more and more of his spiritual energy, but none of it did anything at all.

The woman slammed her power against him again, bringing Alex closer and closer to losing. Alex fell into a daze after that attack, failing to gather his wits in time.

"Do not fight, and I will take care of all your troubles. I will find your family, take care of your disciple, and kill your enemies. I just need your body, knowledge, and talent. Let it all be mine."

Her right hand surged with power as a vortex appeared upon it. "Succumb to my will, and the goddess will embrace you in the afterlife."

Alex raised his left hand, trying to gather what little power he could to fight off the woman.

The woman shook her head. "If words won’t help you understand, then pain will." The power in her hand vanished, replaced by a large two-sided spear. She raised it high up and—

The woman turned around at the last moment and protected herself as a large black mass slammed into her. She was thrown far away from Alex, leaving a trail of black smoke behind her.

When she gathered herself, something else stood where she did before, and it spoke.

"Your goddess must hate you, demon, for she sent you to your death."
