Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1097: The Final Word

Raze looked at the sword he had used. It was one that had been specially enchanted with Lightning magic. When he had the chance after becoming leader of the Dark Faction, he had made sure to use the gifts he had been given and put them to good use.

He had enchanted a sword, each with every affinity of magic he had. If these weapons would break, the first thing he would do was enchant them with his magic again, so he always had something on hand that he could use.

He especially found this helpful when fighting against Sha Mo and his group, so he continued to do so. Right now, he was using his Lightning-enchanted blade. Although with his current state of being a mage that could only use magic in this form, using his newfound idea of replacing what he would use Qi with mana seemed to work.

He could pull off some basic sword techniques that he had learned and use his body well. With the sword enchantment, it almost emulated him using magic and Qi at the same time. It was just a far weaker version of things than what he was used to, but it was enough to take out Azbeth, the head of the Orian Guild.

'In order for us to progress, he needed to be defeated. He wouldn't let the Dark Guild go after everything they have done,' Raze thought to himself. 'I can't blame the Dark Guild for doing any of this. My path was far more bloody; all we can do is limit the amount of blood that needs to be taken, and a large action like this will make sure many guilds in the future, and the general public, choose that it's best not to go up against us... the Orian Guild's sacrifice has helped save many lives, in our bloody path.'

'Besides, from what Harvey was saying, the Orian Guild wasn't the best of guilds in the first place.'

Raze swung his sword out to the side, splattering the blood from his weapon onto the floor. It was a simple flick, and then he turned to the crowd below. They all felt themselves shuffling back as they could see the white eyes staring at them.

'Yes, yes, yes!' Harvey screamed inwardly. 'This is it; this is what I was waiting for. And the entrance made by the Dark Magus was even better than I thought. He bested the guild leader without even using his superior magic. He had decided to beat him at his own game, using his own sword skills! It was something that I couldn't even have planned better if I had the chance myself...this is spectacular!'

The crowd was amazed, and they were frightened by what they had witnessed. It made no sense to them.

"How was he able to win... was that magic? But there didn't look to be a strong sense of mana or anything like that?"

"You're a mage, right? Explain what just happened."

"I have no idea. If we're just talking about mana, it felt like Azbeth was able to produce more. Yet with each of the sword strikes, he was able to deflect them somehow."

The mana being replaced by Qi powering the powerful body that Raze had. A body that Mages couldn't imagine without some type of enhancement or modifications to be made. Even if Azbeth was able to keep up with Raze, it was due to magic.

Whereas Raze's speed and strength were coming from his own body.

"The fact that he managed to beat him this easily, though, does that mean this is the real Dark Magus!"

One of the guests stationed at the front, with shaky hands, was focusing the camera on Raze. This camera, in particular, was what the news channels all around Alterian were starting to use. The broadcast was being shown on all screens.

In all venues, due to the groundbreaking events. Even on the streets as they walked, large billboards were displaying what was happening, urging people not to head to the area where the tragedy was occurring.

For the general public, it wasn't the first time this had occurred. They reminisced back to the days, the days where the Dark Magus would appear. Again and again, each time, eventually causing everyone to hide in fear and learn of the great name.

Right now, the general public was feeling that fear again as they stopped in the streets all to look at the screen.

Raze looked directly at those holding up their magical recording devices. He had a good idea of what had happened, how much time had passed; by now, all of the eyes would have been on him.

"You thought you could get rid of me, but you were not able to," Raze started to speak. In the open streets, his voice was being played loudly for everyone to hear.

"But, Alterian has a darkness that can't go away. A past that is being hidden by those the people trust the most. In the past, you might have called me a madman, thinking I was just doing things for my own benefit."

"The Dark Magus, a name given to me by you, the people, a name given to strike fear into you. The name wasn't given to strike fear into the general public; no, it was to put me down, to make me hunted and hated by everyone."

"But I took that; I took all the hate, all the anger of the people, and took it in. If I am to be the villain of this world, in the eyes of the people, then so be it, but this name that you have given me... I will now use it to strike fear into you."

"The Grand Magus, Enaxx, Ibarin, Trubin, Gizin, and Idore. I will make sure all of your darkness comes to light; that is my duty as the Dark Magus." Raze then lifted his hand into the air and started to gather Dark magic around, swirling in the palm of his hand.

"Let this message spread to the people of Alterian and to you, the GRAND MAGUS, THE DARK MAGUS HAS RETURNED!"

The magic spread out from Raze's hand and engulfed all of the magic devices, cutting off the broadcast, with his final words ringing out.
