Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough
Chapter 1548: In Search of Senior Brother Chu Yang (2)As the two searched the relatively small and barren floating island, it didn’t take long before one of them managed to find an almost transparent bridge that seemed to be crafted from light. Only visible when standing right in front of it and completely invisible to divine sense. Making it clear why the wandering cultivators who had entered before them had not found this seemingly invisible bridge connected to the floating island.
Although, even if they had managed to find this bridge of light that seemed to be leading off the floating island and directly into one of the nearby clouds moving by slowly, it didn’t mean that they felt any safer. Understanding nothing about whether they could even walk along this bridge of light or not.
After all, even if they had tested it out and found it stable to walk on, they had no idea if this would suddenly change after they followed the bridge a bit off the floated island, something that would end up with them plummeting into the dark waters below.
Not to mention, there was also a possibility that the bridge was barely visible was because it was about to run out of qi and couldn’t sustain itself for long. Meaning they could run the risk of the bridge suddenly running out of power while they were on top of it.
Outside of the bridge of light that seemed to be the only way off the floating island, the two also found a few other spirit stones hidden behind a few scattered rocks that looked like they belonged to some kind of ancient building that had long since decayed to the point where only a few rocks had been left behind.
Different from the rest of the spirit stones on the floating island, these spirit stones were all top-quality spirit stones… And considering that these spirit stones shouldn’t have been discovered by the wandering cultivators and them missing wouldn’t cause the wandering cultivators to grow suspicious, the two of them decided to take the top-quality spirit stones.
However, outside of these spirit stones, they didn’t find another way off the floating island.
The only path they had in front of them was the barely visible bridge of light.
Even worse, the bridge led directly into a massive cloud that would not move past the bridge in the next few hours. Making it impossible to see where the bridge of light went…
"Rushing back to the city bordering the mountain range and back again will at most take a little over two hours for those Domain Lord Realm cultivators… And that cloud will at least take another six hours to move past the bridge at its current speed…"As Chun Hua said this out loud, Qing Yi silently frowned beside her. Understanding that if they wanted to leave before the wandering cultivators had the chance to return and find them, they would have to pass through the cloud and potentially land themselves in a dangerous situation in the process.
Considering that they didn’t really have anything from their master to protect them during this adventure out of the sect to find their senior brother, both Qing Yi and Chun Hua were hesitant about doing anything that could potentially put their life on the line or put themselves in a dangerous situation.
After all, they were here to help their senior brother. Not trap themselves in a secret realm and end up becoming the ones needing to be saved!
Continuing to hesitate for another few seconds as they looked between each other and the bridge of light in front of them, Qing Yi finally seemed to have come to a decision as she took the first step forward onto the bridge of light before walking forward with a determined expression on her face.
Behind her, Chun Hua also stopped hesitating as she remembered the danger she had already been through in the past before becoming a disciple of the Star Shattering Sect.
Cautiously moving forward, testing the bridge every step along the way to make sure they wouldn’t just fall through the barely visible bridge by accident, they soon found themselves standing side by side in front of the large cloud that was blocking their view from the floating island behind them.
Although a cloud wasn’t dangerous and both had passed through countless clouds after they broke through to the Domain Lord Realm and gained the ability to fly, they also understood that some clouds were dangerous.
One example was the clouds found at higher altitudes, as the higher up one went, the more dangerous the environment became. Not only could one find different special materials that only condensed high in the sky normally unreachable to someone with a low cultivation realm, but the clouds up there were also special and far more dangerous.
Instead of normal lightning that appeared inside clouds further down, it was heavenly lightning that could instantly kill someone in the Soul Ascension Realm or maybe a cloud made up from some kind of special water that was so cold that it could instantly freeze a Celestial Immortal Realm cultivator. Killing them without a chance for them to fight back.
Okay… The last one was a little extreme, but it was something that both Qing Yi and Chun Hua had learnt about from Pei Yang. The fate of a very unfortunate Celestial Immortal Realm who had recently broken through and tried his luck to go far higher than he had ever gone back when he had been in the Dao Seed Realm. Only to end up freezing to death when he passed through a normal looking cloud at a height far above what even those in the Celestial Immortal Realm considered safe.
All of this was to say that neither Qing Yi nor Chun Hua dared to underestimate the danger of the seemingly normal looking cloud in front of them.
Whoosh~
First, Qing Yi decided to take out a small stone and throw it into the cloud-
Thump!
No changes, it landed safely on the bridge of light a few meters inside the cloud. Only barely visible due to the qi she had attached to the stone before she threw it inside the cloud.
Whoosh~!
Of course, this was far from the only test the two of them intended to do, as they soon began experimenting with different things. From normal objects to spiritual ones that might cause some change.
Only after making sure that there was no danger did they begin cautiously stepping inside the cloud. Ready to turn around at moments notice if they noticed anything off.
Luckily, there was nothing wrong with the cloud even after walking a few dozen meters. Allowing the two of them to breathe a sigh of relief as they continued forward along the bridge.
Although… There was the slight problem of the bridge no longer being visible at all inside of the cloud, causing their speed to slow down to a crawl, as they had to be even more cautious not to end up accidentally stepping off the bridge.
In the end, it took them a full hour before they managed to successfully make their way through the cloud that turned out to be far larger than both of them had first thought. Covering a distance of at least five kilometers during this time.
"This…"
"Another floating island- No, a floating city…"
However, the moment they stepped out of the cloud, the two of them did not have any time to pay attention to the size of the cloud they had just made their way through, as they were both captivated by the large ancient city that appeared in front of them on top of what could only be described as a massive floating island.
BANG!
"AAaaaah! YOU DAMNABLE OVERSIZED RATS!!!"
However, they didn’t get to enjoy the mystical sight of the ancient city ruins floating in front of them for long, as a loud scream followed by the sound of battle rapidly approaching their location broke the picturesque scene of a peaceful ancient city floating amidst the clouds.
"Chu Yang!" "Senior Brother!"
On the other hand, hearing this loud scream, Qing Yi and Chun Hua instantly identified its owner as none other than the senior brother that they had come searching for-
BANG-!
And not a second later, they saw the person in question appearing on top of one of the ancient buildings covered in blood before what could only be described as an oversized rat more than a dozen meters in length appeared in front of him and used its massive tail to send him flying into the ancient ruins.
"DAMNABLE RATS!? HOW MANY OF YOU ARE THERE!?"
Bang-bang-bang!
Followed by their senior brother yelling loudly from what they could only guess to be the remnants of the building he had crashed into, the sound of battle once again echoed out across the ancient city ruins as it wasn’t hard to guess that he should be engaged in battle with the oversized rat they had seen tail slapping him into the ground earlier.
""…""
Looking at each other for a brief moment, wondering what on earth their senior brother had gone through to end up in such a bad state, Qing Yi and Chun Hua didn’t hesitate for a second as they rushed forward to aid their senior brother in dealing with what they could only guess to be more than just the one rat that they had seen earlier.
If anything, they were curious how their senior brother became so weakened, as the strength of the rat that had knocked him to the ground had only barely stepped into the Domain Lord Realm and shouldn’t be able to catch their senior brother off guard like it had managed to do…
