Chapter 1485: Avoiding Detection. Reaching the Mountain Range at the Edge of the Core Region

1485 Avoiding Detection. Reaching the Mountain Range at the Edge of the Core Region

Moving peacefully without encountering any problems for the first two weeks since leaving the Light Hall trade city where the entrance to the secret realm was located, Chu Yang suddenly found himself being constantly attacked by random groups of Domain Lord Realm cultivators who all seemed really intent on killing him.

At first, he had thought he might have just been unlucky and ended up running into a few bandits who might have seen him as an easy target.

The second time, he once again thought he had once again run into a group of bandits wanting to rob him.

The third time it happened, he really thought he was having some bad luck with bandit groups in the area. Part of him even thinking that they might have come to seek revenge for one of the two bandit groups he had killed earlier.

But on the fourth time he found himself being attacked by a group of people randomly out of the blue, he finally realized that something was wrong.

These were not just normal bandits. Instead, they seemed to have come just to kill him. In other words, assassins.

This was not unexpected, as Chu Yang had already believed that the different major powers would put a bounty on his head and send people after him while they were busy dealing with the Dao Seed Realm sandworm running rampant in their territory.

The main thing that took him by surprise was how easily these assassins seemed to find him.

If they could find him that easily, it meant that when the three Dao Seed Realm cultivators were finished dealing with the sandworm, they would almost certainly have the ability to instantly locate him and come catch him before he could even fight back.

So, with this new crisis that had emerged out of the blue, Chu Yang began trying his hardest to figure out how his location was being tracked.

Avoiding any populated areas didn't work, as he was already doing that.

The birds or other animals being controlled from afar to track him didn't seem to be the case either, as it would be a bit unrealistic to control so many animals from afar and a sneaky tamed flying demon beast secretly tailing was also out after he spent close to a day checking while being attacked every now and again.

Having tried everything, he could think of Chu Yang could not help feeling a bit gloomy as he had absolutely no idea how he was being tracked.

Perhaps some weird occult method that he had no idea about? Or a powerful artifact capable of tracking him from- Ah!

Freezing on the spot as he suddenly thought of the fact that he could be tracked by a powerful artifact over a long distance in a similar way to how the Blue Sea Empire was monitoring the borders of their territory, Chu Yang felt overjoyed for a few seconds before realizing that he had no ways to stop any artifact from tracking his location from afar.

"Maybe going underground for a bit will work? If I'm not wrong, there should be a large underground network of tunnels not too far away from here, I might be able to lose the artifact that is tracking me by going underground and traveling close to the ground to make it harder to spot me in the future with any long-distance artifacts." Muttering this to himself as a plan quickly took shape in his mind, Chu Yang quickly changed directions before diving down through a hole in the ground leading a massive network of underground tunnels and caves that covered an area no smaller than the current territory of the Star Shattering Sect.

In a sense, it was a massive underground world that had local faction and entire countries all struggling for control over certain special resources that could only be found inside the underground world.

During his time wandering through the neutral territory, this was one of the places he had explored in the past. Giving him a general idea of the layout of the tunnels and caves that made up this underground world.

Also knowing about some locations that were best avoided due to the danger inside.

Although this would ultimately end up slowing down his speed when it came to reaching the mountain range symbolizing the end of the core region and this neutral territory, Chu Yang quickly discovered that he was correct in that something had indeed been tracking him and that thing was no longer usable after he moved underground.

So even after a week underground, he didn't encounter a single assassination attempt.

Of course, his main worry was still about whether or not his position would be locked on to again the moment he left the underground world.

So, for the first few days after stepping out of the underground world and keeping himself close to the ground like he had planned to do beforehand, Chu Yang was in a state of extreme nervousness as he kept an eye open for assassins that might appear at any around any corner.

However, after a week without any attacks, he finally let out a sigh of relief. Believing that his plan had been successful, he had managed to avoid detection by the assassins.

Because of this, the next two weeks ended up becoming rather uneventful, as the main source of danger that he had expected to come in the form of the Dao Seed Realm cultivators chasing after him never happened.

Making him believe that he might have underestimated the strength of the sandworm and the Blue Sea Empire and the Wei Empire's willingness to get involved in the neutral territory.

Not that he minded any of this, as it just meant he had a safe path all the way to the mountain range that separated the fallen Sky Empire from the Core Region of the continent… Or at least that was what he thought until he spotted a group of four cloaked figures appearing in front of him to block his path…
