Chapter 2100 - Blood Stains the City
The transformation took a while to finish. Tianming familiarized himself with his new body. “It looks different, but the feeling of combat is the same as before. The wings are also just decoration. So is this all just for the sake of better roleplay?” He took out the Grand-Orient Sword. It looked quite strange for a darkfiend to brandish a large Grand-Orient Sword.
“Right, where’s Ying Huo and my bane-rings?” In the wondersky realm, his lifebound beasts existed in the form of tattoos on his body. They had all vanished upon his transformation.
“Master, darkfiends have no lifebound beasts, totems, or wonders. Please use your new body to start a massacre in Darkfiend City!” the wondersky fairy said.
“They don’t have them? Which means lifebound beasts, totems, and wonders are restricted in Darkfiend City?” Tianming frowned.
“Yes!”
“Doesn’t that mean specters have an advantage? They still have their abilities and strong bodies!”
“Abilities are similarly restricted, and all darkfiend bodies are strong!” the wondersky fairy said.
Tianming understood now. "Interesting.” He blinked his eyes. The blood-colored eye in the sky continued shining a red beam of light on him. “The blood of a hundred darkfiends? Whatever, why not do it since it’ll give a fullstella battle art?” Tianming inhaled deeply and began advancing through Darkfiend City.
“Master, you must be careful! On Bloodmoon Night, darkfiends will lose most of their rationality. They’ll become violent and no longer recognize their kin. Be careful of your brethren, for the blood from your heart is the greatest delicacy to them.…”
Tianming paused. A giant blood-colored figure was flying toward him. It was a darkfiend! It ferociously howled upon noticing him and headed in his direction.
“Mysterium Cluster, Skyway Tristar, Whitejade line, Shuang?” The darkfiend’s basic information appeared in Tianming’s mind; she was a second-level stellaminor. “Someone from the Mysterium Cluster? I suppose Darkfiend City would have more people from there.” Tianming himself was from there, so they were probably all assigned to this area. It would only be in later stages that he would run into those from other clusters and experts from even higher level nova source worlds.
Tianming didn’t know why he felt blood rush into his head the moment he saw her. An uncontrollable bloodlust that turned him violent was triggered in him. The scent from the opponent’s heart wafted into Tianming’s nostrils, causing a bottomless hunger to flare.
“I should only be here in caelum form. However, the wondersky realm’s settings can still interfere with my rationality?” He noticed the strangeness; however, his doubts were quickly overridden by killing intent. He howled as well, and shot into the sky to meet the other darkfiend. Taking out the Grand-Orient Sword was the only action carried out by the individual ‘Li Tianming’.
This was the time Tianming had felt his emotional control slip the most as he was consumed by his desires.
“Die!” The two darkfiends slammed into each other and tumbled to the ground. Tianming’s sword fell, piercing right through his opponent’s heart. He pulled out his sword and blood gushed out. Tianming’s head dipped down and he began gulping down the blood. His eyes grew more ferocious as he drank, until he could no longer even hear the wondersky fairy’s voice.
“Die! Die! Die!” He stepped on Shuang’s body as he climbed to his feet. Then he let out a hoarse howl and took to the sky once more.
Such howls covered the entire Darkfiend City. The butchery within the city was illuminated by the Bloodmoon, while collisions, howls, and tragic cries filled every corner of the city. Countless ancient structures crumbled.
The city had been painted red. Darkfiend after darkfiend had devolved into wild beasts, killing as soon as they saw each other, without any rationality to speak of.
When he encountered his second opponent, Tianming didn’t even know who it was; the only thought in his mind was drinking their blood. When the heart’s blood finally entered his mouth, he experienced unprecedented pleasure and stimulation. A person could lose their mind in it and have their will subsumed. Even the Grand-Orient Sword was tainted by the blood and turned into a sword of blood.
It was a banquet of death as those of the same race killed each other!
Regardless of how injured they were in battle, they would immediately recover as long as they drank another darkfiend’s blood. However, they would grow even more insane as they hunted down their next target.
Throughout the Mysterium Cluster, countless nova source worlds let out shouts as they were shocked by this violent massacre. Especially for Violetglory, where the senior experts had never published their time in the Skydome Battlefield. Hence, this was still a fresh experience for most. Of course, part of the reason they never published it was because of how they were kind of weak and just cannon fodder when they came here.
Tianming didn’t know all that. All he knew was that he had lost his sense of self as he transformed into a monster with a bottomless desire that could only be fulfilled by killing his brethren. He didn’t know how much time he passed in that state, he only knew that he was constantly drinking blood and becoming more violent. Flesh and blood were spilled wherever the Grand-Orient Sword pointed.
Only the blood-colored eye in the sky remained clear as it seemed to always be looking at him. The red light that fell from it drove people mad.
Then, finally, it came to an end.
“Master! Master!”
Someone seemed to be calling Tianming through the bloody fog and a flash of clarity returned to him. He felt like he was drowning, his entire body uncomfortable and each breath a struggle to take. He reached out and grabbed the thing in front of him.
“Mhm! You scratched me and made me bleed!” said a tearful voice filled with grievances.
“Wondersky fairy?” Tianming’s breathing recovered. He greedily sucked in mouthfuls of air. He felt himself standing on land and the feeling of being alive had returned. The bloody fog had also receded and the world became clear again.
“Right, what happened? I entered Darkfiend City and accepted the city’s challenge before losing my mind.…” Tianming lowered his head. He saw the scales on his body vanish as he returned to his original appearance and his tattoos reappeared. His black arm was naturally still around as well.
The scales, baleful aura, desire, and devilish will all flowed toward his back.
“Ow!”
Suddenly, someone tapped him on the head. Tianming looked up and saw the wondersky fairy standing in front of him with an embarrassed and angry expression, her arms wrapped around her chest. Blood was dripping onto her flat stomach, and bright-red claw marks were visible even though she was trying to cover them with her hands.
Tianming understood what had happened when he remembered something about making her bleed. “This is embarrassing, thank the gods people outside can’t see her or Ling’er will be asking me about these heavenly pattern barriers…”
“What heavenly pattern barriers? You scratched me and I’m bleeding!”
Tianming disdainfully looked at her. “It’s amazing how a bundle of celestial patterns like you can bleed.”
The wondersky fairy was so angry she grit her teeth.
“I have to say, you really are human-like. The divine wonderians are quite impressive,” he said.
The wondersky fairy harrumphed, looking proud again.
“What just happened?” Tianming tried to recall the recent past, but his mind was still in a mess and even hurting slightly.
“Just? Right, Master! Your behavior just now was very valiant! You managed to kill a hundred darkfiends on your first time in Darkfiend City. You drank their heart’s blood and fulfilled the conditions to leave Darkfiend City! You’ve overcome the curse of the darkfiend and regained your humanity!” The wondersky fairy was very emotional. “Congratulations, you’ll receive a fullstella battle art as a reward and can begin your journey to the next city. Your valiance will now enter the annals of Darkfiend City’s history, and billions have had their heart’s set aflame by your might. You’ve won incomparable glory for your cluster!”
“Sounds great. As long as there’s a reward.” Honestly, Tianming didn’t even feel much about this battle as his mind hadn’t even been present.
He was about to ask how to obtain the award when he felt a sharp pain at the top of his spine. He reached behind with his hand and felt a circular bump that seemed to have grown there.
