Yuan’s Ascension

Chapter 974: Four Overlords

Chapter 974: Four Overlords

He wants to see me urgently? Is it because of the inter-Saintdom war? Wu Yuan murmured to himself. Hmm? Overlord Hou Jue has sent me a message as well?

At that moment, Wu Yuan received messages from two Overlords, with Overlord Hou Jue’s message being more detailed.

Overlord Hou Jue is telling me not to worry? Wu Yuan thought to himself.

Wu Yuan wasn’t in a hurry. For him, meeting the Overlords was a small matter. What was more important was preparing for the coming dangers by adapting to the Azure Origin Armor as quickly as possible and unleashing its full potential.

Azure Origin Armor. Wu Yuan examined the battle armor enveloping his entire body. Each component of the set transmitted immense power, granting him extraordinary strength as a whole.

The Azure Origin Armor consists of fourteen pieces. Besides defense, it’s also an offensive artifact. Wu Yuan mused. Fists, feet, elbows, knees, even the head… every part can be a weapon in battle. This is truly an inconceivable treasure.

Ordinary high-grade Dao Instruments or even Xiantian artifacts rarely came in complete sets. While their power was formidable, they were often used in conjunction with other treasures to compensate for their weaknesses.

The Azure Origin Armor, however, was essentially fourteen Xiantian artifacts fused into one. If any piece of this Xiantian artifact were assessed individually, it wouldn’t match up to the Black Rock Saber and had fatal flaws. But once united, they complemented each other, allowing the suit of armor to unleash devastating power.

My true self can now match the attack power of an eighth-stage Sovereign with just my fists. Wu Yuan thought as he experimented with a punch, the immense power granting him overwhelming offensive capability.

His attack power and physical defense had reached terrifying levels, and the armor could even significantly weaken soul attacks and spiritual assaults. It was truly all-round protection.

No matter how powerful an artifact is, the user needs to be strong enough to unleash their full potential. Even my true self can’t fully activate the Azure Origin Armor at present, so wielding the Black Rock Saber on top of that would just be a waste of energy. Wu Yuan reflected.

Overlords, with their immensely strong foundations, could overpower ninth-stage Sovereigns even without any artifacts. That was why they craved multiple Xiantian artifacts, as they could unleash extraordinary power from ordinary Xiantian artifacts. Wu Yuan’s Dao comprehension, however, was far inferior to Overlords.

The Azure Origin Armor’s power far surpasses that of ordinary Xiantian artifacts. Wu Yuan thought. I reckon that even when I become an Overlord in the future, wielding this single Xiantian artifact would be enough.

The Black Rock Saber can be entrusted to my ether body. Wu Yuan pondered silently.

His body refiner self, wielding the Azure Origin Armor, possessed combat power at the eighth-stage Sovereign level, with self-preservation ability matching many Overlords.

His ether body, equipped with the Black Rock Saber, had combat power equivalent to a seventh-stage Sovereign, with defense comparable to many ninth-stage Sovereigns.

The two joining forces gave Wu Yuan the confidence to contend with ninth-stage Sovereign powerhouses.

Of course, until the Azure Origin Armor was fully activated and its aura completely concealed, revealing it was certain to provoke a frenzy among many Overlords.

Let’s go! Wu Yuan’s true self, clad in the Azure Origin Armor, moved swiftly. Like an azure-armored war god, he vanished into the endless darkness, truly entering the Abyss Region.

A terrifying force from the depths of the Abyss engulfed him, yet he effortlessly resisted its pull.

Now, it’s a matter of luck. Wu Yuan thought to himself. He had done all he could; the rest was up to fate. Even the supreme eternal beings sometimes had to rely on luck.

Back in the depths of the Megaverse Crossroads, the black pagoda sent several messages. First, it urged me to reach the Well of Life within a hundred thousand years if possible.

Second, it cryptically hinted that this would be a crucial opportunity, and the earlier I arrived, the better. Wu Yuan mused silently. I hope heeding its mysterious guidance isn’t a mistake.

In truth, Wu Yuan had hesitated.

Firstly, the Creation Dao Realm was fraught with danger. Without his previous windfall at the burial mountain, Wu Yuan’s strength would have been lacking considerably.

Secondly, Wu Yuan recalled the warnings of Sovereign Black Devil and the Spacetime Dao Master about the dangers of the Ancestral Pagoda, not to mention the True Saint who had likely perished because of it… Yet after much deliberation, Wu Yuan chose to come anyway.

At least, from what I’ve seen, the Ancestral Pagoda has never harmed me. If anything, it’s only ever provided assistance. Wu Yuan pondered quietly. The future dangers will likely only become relevant once I attain eternal existence.

I haven’t even achieved eternity yet, so it’s too early to worry about future perils. Besides, if I truly want to break free from the Ancestral Pagoda’s influence someday, I should try to understand the truth behind being an imprint bearer. How can I escape it without understanding it? Wu Yuan had his own considerations.

For now, his utmost priority was to break free from the shackles of samsara at all costs. If he couldn’t escape samsara, he was doomed to perish at the end of this samsara cycle of heaven and earth anyway.

Let’s see what the black pagoda is truly leading me to. Wu Yuan felt a twinge of anxiety.

As he ventured deeper into the Abyss Region, a strand of consciousness entered the Eldritch Court Voidrealm.

In the Eldritch Court Voidrealm, on the Long Shan plane, within the temple that belonged to Overlord Ming Zhun.

Whoosh! Wu Yuan’s avatar flew into the temple. At a glance, he saw four figures standing inside, each emanating an aura so vast it dwarfed that of ordinary Sovereigns.

Overlord Hou Jue, Overlord Ming Zhun and two more Overlords? Wu Yuan was rather surprised.

What matter could be important enough to gather four Overlords? Moreover, he had never even seen two of these Overlords before.

The Eldritch Court was different from the Taiyuan Divine Court. The Taiyuan Divine Court’s spacetime territory wasn’t particularly vast, and its population of living beings was relatively small. This meant the chances of producing monstrous prodigies were low. Thus, even the eight Overlords of the divine court headquarters paid great attention to someone like Ming Jian.

But the Eldritch Court’s territory spanned the entire megaverse. Over countless eons, it had produced many monstrous prodigies and consequently, many Overlords. In other words, even if a monstrous prodigy was almost certain to become an Overlord in the future, they wouldn’t shine quite so brightly in the entire Eldritch Court.

For most Eldritch Court Overlords, unless it was a direct subordinate or someone with special ties, they rarely went out of their way to associate with juniors from younger generations. Wu Yuan himself hadn’t met any Overlords in the Myriad River Realm apart from Overlord Hou Jue.

“Wu Yuan pays his respects to the esteemed Overlords,” Wu Yuan greeted with a slight bow.

“Wu Yuan, come closer,” Overlord Hou Jue said with a smile. She was usually aloof towards other Sovereigns, but treated Wu Yuan with warmth.

Wu Yuan nodded and approached the four Overlords.

“Wu Yuan, we’ve called you here because there are some matters we need to discuss with you.” The elderly man in cerulean robes, Overlord Ming Zhun, smiled and said, “Let me introduce you. This is Overlord Huan Jin, and this is Overlord Zi Wu. They both belong to our Long Shan Saintdom.”

“Overlord Huan Jin? Overlord Zi Wu?” Wu Yuan nodded. “Greetings to both Overlords.”

He knew a thing or two about these two Overlords from the intelligence he had access to.

With his clearance level, he could query the names of Overlords from various Saintdom branches of the Eldritch Court, but as for detailed information on their abilities? He only had some vague descriptions.

Overlord Huan Jin was a beautiful woman in purple robes. She smiled at Wu Yuan, appearing quite amiable. Overlord Zi Wu, however, was rather cold, merely giving a slight nod.

Wu Yuan wasn’t surprised by this. The Overlords, with their immense power, each had their own unique personalities. Not every Overlord would treat him warmly.

“Wu Yuan, your recent display of power has caught us all by surprise. You’re truly accomplished for your age. However, the commotion you’ve caused is significant, even sparking an inter-Saintdom war.” Overlord Ming Zhun chuckled. “The war summons have just been issued. The real large-scale conflict probably won’t begin for another hundred years or so.”

Wu Yuan listened silently. Four Overlords gathering specifically to meet him—they surely weren’t here just for small talk.

“The ignition of an inter-Saintdom war is actually quite a normal occurrence. You’re just young and haven’t experienced it before, but after a few billion years, you’ll get used to it. You were merely the spark, so no one will blame you,” Overlord Ming Zhun continued.

“Thank you, Overlord,” Wu Yuan replied.

Sovereign Xiang Yun and the others had said similar things too. No one would blame Wu Yuan.

“However, you’re at the forefront of danger in this inter-Saintdom war. Your true self is trapped deep within the Creation Dao Realm and can’t easily escape for now,” Overlord Ming Zhun said. “Even if you hide in another Sovereign’s grotto-heaven, it would be difficult to escape safely.”

Wu Yuan nodded slightly.

If his true self was determined to leave the Creation Dao Realm, there were many methods. The simplest would be to have a late-stage Sovereign escort him out, avoiding detection from other Immortal Court powerhouses.

But under the shadow of a Saintdom war, any Eldritch Court Sovereign could potentially come under attack. Once exposed, it would draw countless Immortal Court Sovereigns to converge and attack from all directions.

“Therefore, after discussing with Overlord Hou Jue, we’ve decided to ask Overlord Huan Jin and Overlord Zi Wu to enter the Creation Dao Realm and rescue your true self,” Overlord Ming Zhun said. “Your true self must leave as soon as possible.”

“Wu Yuan, although our Eldritch Court has many Overlords, they would all be suppressed upon entering another universe. Thus, we can only send Overlords from the Long Shan Saintdom lineage to rescue you,” Overlord Hou Jue looked at Wu Yuan. “And right now, in the Long Shan Saintdom lineage, only Overlord Huan Jin and Overlord Zi Wu are available.”

“This junior understands,” Wu Yuan nodded.

Sovereigns and Overlords who followed the path of Laws were reluctant to enter other universes, as their power would be greatly diminished. The stronger they were, the more severe the impact. In this aspect, they were at a disadvantage compared to those who followed the path of matter.

The Eldritch Court’s Long Shan Saintdom was far more powerful than the Taiyuan Divine Court, with over twenty Overlords in their ranks at present. But most of these Overlords were either guarding crucial locations or out on adventures. It was quite fortunate that two Overlords were available to come to his rescue immediately.

“Overlord Huan Jin is an Overlord of Spacetime. In terms of evasion techniques and control, she ranks in the top three among all the Overlords in our universe,” Overlord Ming Zhun said. “Overlord Zi Wu has comprehended the Great Dao of Five Elements and will send two ether bodies for this mission.”

Overlord of Spacetime? Overlord of Five Elements? Wu Yuan couldn’t help but glance at the two, inwardly amazed.

Although every Great Dao was immensely powerful, each with its own unique aspects and capable of leading one to eternity, there were indeed differences between them. Generally speaking, those who comprehended the Great Dao of Spacetime, the Great Dao of Five Elements, and the Great Dao of Destiny were the rarest. Overlords who had comprehended these three Great Daos were often more feared than others.

“Wu Yuan, once your true self leaves the Well of Life, just head to any nearby area and conceal yourself, then give us your coordinates.” Overlord Huan Jin smiled. “Overlord Zi Wu and I will arrive within a hundred years.”

“A hundred years?” Wu Yuan hesitated for a moment, then shook his head. “Respected Overlords, my true self has already entered the Abyss Region of the Well of Life. I can’t leave anytime soon.”

“The Abyss Region?” Overlord Hou Jue, Overlord Ming Zhun, and the others were taken aback. They all knew how dangerous the Abyss Region of the Well of Life was.

“Wu Yuan. You dare to enter the Abyss Region as a mere Astral Monarch?” Overlord Zi Wu’s voice was cold as he frowned. “Are you tired of living?”
