Yuan’s Ascension

Chapter 837: Innumerable Casualties (1)

“The most dazzling figure from the Voltari Temple in this era is Jiang Ming, but the gap between his strength and Wu Yuan's is evident. The Immortal Court's Ling Jiang Saintdom will surely send other geniuses.”

“We don't know how many or who they will send.”

“On the Cang Feng Eldritch World’s side, there will likely be peerless geniuses from the Eldritch Court's Ling Jiang Saintdom as well.”

“Indeed, it would be difficult for Wu Yuan to determine victory alone!”

“Keep monitoring. Perhaps we may witness future Sovereigns in action.” Several Sovereigns from the five other major factions of the macrocosm discussed. Their true bodies resided outside this expanse of space, but their perceptions subtly encompassed the battlefield spanning billions of li.

Each time two great factions engaged in a decisive battle, Sovereigns from other factions were permitted to observe.

Throughout history, whenever the Megaverse Crossroads opened, those who could carry the Greenridge Macrocosm's providence were typically geniuses from either the Eldritch Court or the Immortal Court.

This had become the norm. Only these two factions could dispatch a multitude of geniuses to various worlds to participate in battles.

The Desolation Divine Court, though the mightiest power in the Ling Jiang Universe, had a weaker presence in the Greenridge Macrocosm and lacked the strength to compete.

Historically, there were occasional exceptions when extremely brilliant geniuses emerged from the Greenridge Macrocosm's native factions, outshining even the geniuses sent by the Eldritch Court and Immortal Court.

After all, in the past, the Greenridge Macrocosm wasn't considered too important. Without the emergence of exceptionally powerful geniuses, neither the Eldritch Court nor the Immortal Court would send their most elite talents. At most, they'd dispatch those on par with High Eldritch Liu Hong or High Eldritch Wu Jian.

But this time was different!

The Greenridge Macrocosm's providence before this opening of the Megaverse Crossroads was clearly extraordinary, arousing jealousy. Thus, the scale of war between the two factions had visibly escalated.

Typically, in past decisive battles, only tens of millions of immortals and deities would gather. This time, however, each side had amassed over a hundred million immortals and deities, a heart-stopping number.

Inside the Eldritch Court's Space Fortress, the temple steps descended in succession, offering an unobstructed, panoramic view.

Sovereign Kua Chi's incarnation sat upon a lofty throne, overlooking the entire battlefield.

"Voltari?" Sovereign Kua Chi's gaze pierced the dim void far away, where a powerful will resided.

The one commanding the great army on the other side was Sovereign Voltari.

The two Sovereigns sensed each other from afar, both perceiving the other's determination and will.

This battle involved a struggle for providence and even the alteration of territories the size of an eldritch nation or immortal nation. Failure was not an option.

"With billions of immortals and eldritches gathered, this battle will ultimately be decided by the coordination of the great armies, with the five peerless geniuses serving only as support," Sovereign Kua Chi observed, his voice low as he surveyed the scene below. "Hou Qu, Xuan Yun, prepare to commence."

"Yes, Sovereign!" Astral Monarch Hou Qu and Astral Monarch Xuan Yun responded solemnly.

One was an Astral Monarch of Space, the other the Sovereign's disciple and a quasi-Sovereign powerhouse. They understood all too well the magnitude of this battle's impact.

"Everyone, take your positions. Mobilize."

"Prepare to assemble the arrays." Astral Monarch Hou Qu and Astral Monarch Xuan Yun, acting as commanders, immediately began deploying and coordinating the other forty-four Astral Monarchs.

"Assemble the arrays!" Dozens of Astral Monarchs instantly began directing the numerous Astral Lords on the three battle lanes through the Cang Feng Eldritch Voidrealm.

"Assemble the arrays!"

"Rise!" In the vast, dim outer space, multitudes of Archimmortals and Archeldritch began to group up around the Astral Lords, cooperating to form numerous battle arrays.

Endless surges of spiritual qi began to converge.

In single combat, even a quasi-Astral Monarch would be instantly annihilated on a battlefield with billions of immortals and deities.

Only by forming arrays could they survive.

Ordinary battle arrays were typically composed of one Astral Lord and dozens of ordinary Archimmortals and Archeldritches allowing the entire formation to unleash power approaching that of a quasi-Astral Monarch.

Elite battle arrays were entirely composed of Astral Lords, with strength nearing the Astral Monarch level.

Apex battle arrays were composed entirely of late-stage Astral Lord powerhouses, led by quasi-Astral Monarchs, and often consisted of close to a hundred individuals. Such a battle array commanded universal attention, undoubtedly reaching the Astral Monarch level. The aura they emitted was enough to threaten true Astral Monarchs.

The arrays each had their specialties—some excelled in attacks, others in binding, and some in domains, among other abilities.

However, the number of such apex arrays was never too large. The Cang Feng Eldritch World maintained only about a hundred apex arrays on each battle lane.

A single battle lane was, in fact, incredibly vast, with the frontline engagement alone spanning over a hundred million li.

These apex arrays served as the sharpest blades on each battle lane. The areas they occupied often formed small-scale battlefields, serving as the most crucial points.

Of course, these were all offensive mobile arrays, agile and versatile.

Surrounding the Eldritch Court's Space Fortress were also countless fixed arrays powered by thousands upon thousands of Archimmortals, meant for defense.

They couldn't be moved and perfect synchronization was difficult to achieve, but when countless Archimmortals united to attack, the explosive power they unleashed was terrifying.

In just a few breaths, the spiritual qi within a hundred billion li radius of space was completely depleted, replaced by millions of imposing battle arrays.

Some shone as brilliantly as fixed stars, others flowed like rivers, some arrays took on beast-like forms, each unique in its own way.

Hundreds of millions of li away in the void, the Immortal Court's vast army likewise formed powerful battle arrays, their might overwhelming and their forms equally diverse.

Though these arrays seemed numerous, they were all constructed based on the cultivators' strengths, specialties, and Daos comprehended.

Over the countless samsara cycles of heaven and earth, and innumerable clashes between armies across the vast macrocosms, the array teachings of both the Eldritch Court and Immortal Court had been refined to perfection by the Sovereigns. They could maximize the power of countless immortals, deities, and eldritches.

This was a decisive battle, and also a crucible.

"The Eldritch-Immortal Battlefield is truly cruel," High Eldritch Liu Hong, standing atop the high walls of the Space Fortress, couldn't help but remark. "The Archimmortals and Archeldritches who stand supreme in various immortal continents are mere footsoldiers here."

Nan Yin, Jiang Huan, and Wu Yuan all nodded in agreement.

Archimmortals as mere soldiers? Wu Yuan mused silently. Once, Archimmortals had seemed so noble in his eyes. Now, they were but fleeting ripples in this vast tide of armies.

Destiny! Strength. Only with overwhelming power can one be the master of one's own destiny. Wu Yuan felt an even greater longing rise within him.

The more he encountered and the broader his horizons, the more he sensed his own insignificance.

"There are too many troops," High Immortal Nan Yin said in a low voice. "Though we can unleash astonishing combat power, our mana and ether are limited, so we must avoid getting tangled up with ordinary battle arrays at all costs.

Our goal is to locate the enemy's apex arrays and destroy them. Slaughter the Astral Lords," High Immortal Nan Yin instructed.

"Mm." Wu Yuan, High Eldritch Wu Jian, and the others nodded slightly. Even if they had initially harbored thoughts of scything through swathes of troops, the sight of hundreds of millions of immortals, deities, and eldritches had dispelled such notions.

The numbers were simply too vast! Over a hundred million Archimmortals and Archdeities—even if they stood still and allowed themselves to be slaughtered, one would exhaust all their mana before killing even one percent of the enemy troops.

They could only serve as the sharpest blades, supporting the great army. The final victory would still be determined by the armies.

"Let's go."

"Enter the lanes." High Immortal Nan Yin, High Eldritch Liu Hong, Jiang Huan, and High Eldritch Wu Jian immediately proceeded according to the plan, each entering a different battle lane.

They swiftly flew to the forefront of the battle lanes.

Wu Yuan, meanwhile, made his way above the numerous fixed arrays. This was where the three battle lanes converged, allowing him to support any lane at a moment's notice.

Space has been stabilized. Even I can only remain in the Material Spatial Layer. Wu Yuan thought to himself. If my qi refiner self were here instead, perhaps I could break through to a higher spatial dimension.

Then he could truly arrive at any point on the three battle lanes at will, truly defying the heavens. Alas, Wu Yuan's body refiner self couldn't achieve this yet.

Hmm? It's starting. Wu Yuan's eyes narrowed as he gazed at the opposing army hundreds of millions of li in the distance.

Boom! Boom! Boom! The numerous battle arrays formed by the Eldritch Court's troops sprang into action simultaneously on the three battle lanes. It was like a series of eruptions, instantly stirring up shocking energy fluctuations.

Rumble~ Terrifying torrents of energy likewise erupted from the other end of the battlefield as the Immortal Court's army unleashed their power across the three battle lanes.

"Kill!" The roar of billions of Archimmortals, Archdeities, and Archeldritches echoed through the vast outer space. This wasn't truly sound, but rather the manifestation of their immortal consciousness, will, and spirit!

It was far more soul-shaking than mere sound.

At that moment, it was as if two extreme killing intents surged skyward, causing all of heaven and earth to tremble.

"This killing intent?"

"How frightening!" Outside the battlefield, the faces of the various Sovereigns observing the battle changed slightly.

In their eyes, Archimmortals were like ants. Yet even ants, when gathered in groups as vast as an ocean, could harbor the ambition to shake the heavens!

Whysee's Thoughts

Hi everyone, I saw a comment asking where you can find the old diagrams and tables, so I created a spreadsheet with the previous tables. I'll also put the link in the discord under the diagrams thread. Feel free to edit it if you wish~
