Chapter 287 Demon King: You Should Be Honored To Be Defeated By Me!
With his pride being imposed on reality, it was possible for the Demon King of Pride to control reality itself!
Such as, avoiding the reality of him being sealed.
Of course, it was also possible to change reality and make his death an illusion. However, that was unnecessary as he was already immortal even without the Pride Authority.
Because of that, his usage of the pride authority was mostly to prevent the reality of him being sealed. He wasn't worried that he would die, but he feared being sealed.
Arctos only dared to run rampant in Fantasia due to the absence of the nine heroes as they were already dead.
However, if he was sealed and the next batch of heroes arrived, he wasn't that confident he could defeat those new batches of nine heroes.
After all, he wasn't the one who defeated the nine heroes so even if he was prideful and arrogant, he still lacked the feat to prove himself that he was the strongest Demon King in all history.
Being prideful without having achievements and feats to back it up was nothing but self-delusion.
Arctos hadn't reached that stage yet and he didn't want to as he aimed to achieve true pride.
The stronger his pride and the more it was proven, the more he could generate pride energy. And the more pride energy he had, the more control he had over everything in this world.
As for Arctos' ultimate goal?
It was none other than usurping the Goddess of Fantasy!
When a powerful demon was chosen as the next generation Demon King, they would not only receive a demon king authority but also more information about Fantasia including most of its secrets.
The demon king authority might be random as there were seven demon king authorities and they were based on the seven deadly sins.
But the information regarding the secrets of Fantasia that a Demon King receives was all similar.
Most of those secrets were regarding their curse as well as the power of the Goddess of Fantasy.
Fantasia's purpose in doing that was none other than to let the Demon Kings know of the wider world. And then letting them know how insignificant they were when compared to a powerful existence like her.
The Demon Kings were like frogs who jumped higher and managed to take a glimpse of the world outside the well. However, they saw a terrifying existence that stuffed them back to the well and due to the difference in power between them and Fantasia, they dared not come out.
But because of that, the Demon King also knew one thing.
The demon king authorities weren't controlled by the Goddess of Fantasy.
The hero authorities were indeed controlled by the Goddess of Fantasy and it was like a time bomb the Goddess placed on the heroes which acted as their slave collar. If those heroes dared to disobey the Goddess of Fantasy, they would be easily disposed of with just the thoughts of the Goddess of Fantasy alone.
However, the Goddess of Fantasy didn't have control over the curse of the Demon King, as well as the demon king authorities.
Arctos had discovered that from the information he had received, the curse of the Demon King was a divine law from the God Realm.
The same went for the demon king authorities and they were all a product of the God Realm.
For reasons that weren't mentioned, the Goddess of Fantasy managed to purchase those divine laws and demon king authorities to improve the World of Fantasia and make it a decent faith power generator.
Arctos had already known that he was nothing but a pawn of the Goddess of Fantasy and this world was nothing but her faith power generator.
Even if the demon race perished, another major race would replace them.
As for the possibility of the information he received being false, it wasn't that Arctos hadn't thought of it. But even if he did, he was helpless as he was too weak to determine the authenticity of the information given to him by the World Will.
Arctos could guess that the World Will was in cahoots with the Goddess of Fantasy. But to what extent, he couldn't specifically guess.
'Sigh, I wonder if I can ever break free from the control of the Goddess of Fantasy and step foot in the God Realm? By becoming a Demon God, I can also lead my demon race to prosperity, no longer a major race targeted and mocked by others.'
'With my demon king authority, nothing is impossible as long as I believe in myself!'
'There are still at least nine hundred years before the next batch of heroes are summoned into this world. I still have enough time to establish my achievements and feats in this world and further prove my pride!'
'As long as I dominate this world and let everyone know how great I am, my pride energy might reach an unprecedented level to the point that the path of godhood might be within reach!'
'As long as I have enough pride energy, nothing is impossible! At that point, it will only be a matter of self-confidence and pride in myself.'
'But to achieve all of this, I still need to prove my pride by defeating these two powerhouses in front of me.'
When Arctos thought about his grand plan of becoming a Demon God by accumulating enough pride energy by proving his pride, Arctos arrogantly and confidently blocked the royal carriage and confronted Alister face to face.
The pride on Arctos' face was clearly seen as if he didn't want others to be oblivious to his identity as the Demon King of Pride.
Arctos could indeed notice that the human coachman driving the royal carriage was a powerful human. He even knew of the powerful presence of someone from the spirit race inside the carriage.
However, that didn't matter to Arctos as his pride overcame his fear and cautiousness.
Looking down on Alister, Arctos ridiculed, "You human and that spirit inside, come out and get beaten by me! You should be honored that you will be the first powerhouse to be ever defeated by me after I stepped out of the Demonic Impure Land!"
