With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods

Chapter 1089 - 1089: Nobles gathering

With Amy working on it, it didn’t take long for the auction to become a large matter in this city.

No, it wasn’t just the city alone that this became a large matter in.

It was news that spread across the entire Kalos Empire.

After all, it wasn’t as if a dragon corpse was something that was seen very often.

At the same time, the value of a dragon’s corpse was already self-evident. Everyone already knew just what kind of things could be done with materials from a dragon, so it was only natural that they would be excited about this.

It was to the point where they might even fight each other over the material from the dragon.

But of course they wouldn’t fight with force.

They would fight with money since this was an auction.

Because of the hype that was created from the announcement of materials from a dragon being put up for auction, there were many different people that came to this Flame City where Amy’s Adventurer’s Guild branch was.

Only these weren’t normal people that arrived.

There were normal people like merchants that did arrive, but the ones that were the most important were the nobles of the Kalos Empire.

After all, the nobles were the ones with the most money and the ones that held the real power in this Kalos Empire.

Buying the materials from the dragon would only make them stronger as they would be able to create powerful items from the dragon materials.

As such, the nobles were the center of attention at this auction.

Since it had become such a large thing, there was something else that was important to the nobles. Since there were so many eyes that were on this auction now, it meant that they would be able to bring attention to themselves if they were able to win something from the auction.

“With so many nobles here, there will be no problem selling these items for the highest price possible.” Amy said in a confident voice before looking at Sirius as if she was waiting for something from him.

Sirius just raised his hand and patted her on the head when he saw her looking at him like this.

There was a wide smile that appeared on Amy’s face when she felt him doing this.

Only Lin Fan ruined this moment by suddenly saying, “Won’t they collude to lower the price?”

Amy looked at him with an angry look at first before changing to a look like she was looking at an idiot that just made Lin Fan reveal a bitter smile.

After looking at him like this for a bit, Amy finally said, “Aren’t you underestimating the pride of these nobles? Do you really think that they would lower their pride to the point where they would work with each other to lower the price? In fact, they might do all that they can to raise the price just so they can show off.”

Though she said all this, there was still a look of doubt that was on Lin Fan’s face.

After all, he didn’t think that things would go as smoothly as Amy made it seem.

But seeing this look on Lin Fan’s face was almost as if it was a challenge to Amy.

That made her put her arms at her waist before she said, “Don’t you know anything about the nobles? Do you really think that I would have made this kind of mistake when setting up the auction?”

With a snort, she continued, “The nobles aren’t as close as you think they are. Even if they are all nobles, that doesn’t mean that they don’t compete with each other. And to make sure that they compete, I even invited three different factions to the auction. They’ll have no choice but to compete with each other.”

Lin Fan had a bit of an impressed look in his eyes when he heard this.

While he didn’t know everything there was to know about the Kalos Empire, he did have some knowledge on the Kalos Empire because of the information that Agnus had brought him.

Haku had wanted to stop her, but Agnus made sure that Lin Fan received this information because it was related to the things that Haku wanted him to do.

So she had no way of stopping Agnus from giving this information to him.

After all, she was the one that was sending Lin Fan to the Kalos Empire in the first place.

She was a selfish dungeon core, but there were limits to Haku’s actions.

Especially since Rokuko had been looking at her with judgemental eyes when Agnus did this.

This was also part of Agnus’ plan based on the look that she gave Lin Fan at the time that she handed over the information on the Kalos Empire.

As such, Lin Fan did know about the six factions of nobles in the Kalos Empire.

For Amy to invite three of the six factions, it meant that she had quite a bit of influence as the guild master of this branch.

But then again, with how big her dungeon was…it actually seemed right for her to have this kind of reputation. The larger the dungeon that a guild master was in charge of, naturally the more sway that they had.

They had better connections as long as the grade of the dungeon was higher.

“Then what are the nobles doing right now?” Lin Fan suddenly asked Amy when she was done giving her explanation.

Amy had been glaring at Lin Fan before this, but she couldn’t help raising one brow when she heard this as if she was curious why he was asking this.

After looking at him for a bit like this, she suddenly asked, “What are you planning?”

Lin Fan just calmly said, “I just want to meet them. I’m sure that you’re hosting some kind of banquet for them since you invited them all for this auction, right? Just let me attend that banquet.”

Amy narrowed her eyes once more when she heard this.

She didn’t say anything as she continued looking at Lin Fan with these narrowed eyes, but it was clear that she was accusing him of something. It was as if she didn’t know exactly what he was planning, but she could tell that he was planning something.

In the end, it was Sirius who suddenly said, “It’s fine to let him attend, right? He’s the one that brought the dragon corpse to auction off.”

Amy looked at Sirius as if she was unhappy that he wasn’t taking her side, but Sirius didn’t back down like he normally would.

Though Lin Fan did have something to add, “I don’t want anyone to know that I was the one that provided the dragon corpse.”

Sirius and Amy were surprised to hear this and they had different reactions to this.

Amy narrowed her eyes once more to look at Lin Fan while Sirius had an understanding look.

In the end, it was agreed that Lin Fan would be allowed to attend the banquet that was being held later tonight. Though it was clear by the look that was on Amy’s face that she wasn’t happy about this.

Sirius did have one thing to add when this was all decided, “You’ll have to reveal your identity as an A Rank Adventurer. If we don’t do that, then it would be hard to justify why you’re at the party to the nobles. I hope you can understand that.”

“As long as you don’t reveal that I’m the one that provided the dragon corpse.” Lin Fan responded in a calm voice.

Sirius nodded in agreement to this since this was already what he had agreed to.

But he also said to Amy, “Don’t play any tricks. We want this to go smoothly for the next part of the plan.”

When he mentioned the plan, that was when a restrained look appeared on Amy’s face.

After all, she knew that this auction was just a cover even though it would bring quite a few benefits to her branch of the Adventurer’s Guild. The one thing that she didn’t like the most was the fact that Lin Fan was earning quite a bit too.

But that didn’t mean that she forgot that this was all related to the plan that Haku gave her.

Since it was related to Haku, Amy had no choice but to be obedient.

Though she still glared at Lin Fan in the end.

However, Lin Fan didn’t care how Amy acted as long as she didn’t do anything that she wasn’t supposed to do.

The only thing that he cared about was meeting the nobles of the Kalos Empire.

As for the reason…

It was because they were the ones that had sent the vanguard to the cultivation continent. They were the ones that were behind the plan to invade the cultivation continent.

As such, he wanted to probe them to see what their thoughts were and what kind of personalities they had.

After all, this was all useful information for the future when they actually sent forces to the cultivation continent.

At the same time, it would be useful to put a few trackers on these nobles just in case something happened.

It might even be worth taking over a few of them just in case he needed to do some manipulating of the Kalos Empire.

But Lin Fan wouldn’t take any risks and would do this safely.

In the end, this was just the first meeting with these nobles.

There was no need to take it that far.
