With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods

Chapter 1087 - 1087: Refining the bloodline

Lin Fan raised a brow to look at Hayase after he said this without actually agreeing to what Hayase was asking for.

After all, he couldn’t just agree to this without getting more information.

It wasn’t that he was worried that Hayase wouldn’t be able to defeat the Lesser Red Dragon on his own. Lin Fan could tell with his Appraisal Eyes the difference in level between them.

No, even without the Appraisal Eyes, he could tell based on the difference in aura that the two possessed.

After training in Lin Fan’s Pet Storage Space and Minor World, Hayase was already at the level of matching someone in the Peak Qi Condensation Realm. However, that was just in terms of his mana.

If it was with his special abilities as a dragon, he would be able to face someone in the Golden Core Realm without a problem.

It was just that recently Hayase’s power growth had been slowing down.

And that was because he was reaching the limit of his level growth.

Unlike those from the cultivation continent that could continue to grow stronger as long as they continued practicing their cultivation techniques, Hayase only grew stronger by gathering experience points and gaining levels.

Of course, it wasn’t just killing monsters that would get him more levels.

It seemed that he was able to absorb the natural energy that was in the Pet Storage Space to gain experience, which allowed him to level up and become stronger. But at the same time, it wasn’t as if he didn’t have anything to fight.

There were plenty of spirit beasts in the Minor World that continued to grow and it wasn’t as if all of the spirit beasts submitted to Lin Fan.

Even if they had no choice because they were in the Minor World, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan was going to give them a chance to do anything.

So he let Hayase take care of them for experience points.

But right now, unless Hayase explained what he wanted to do, Lin Fan wasn’t planning on letting Hayase actually fight this Lesser Red Dragon.

It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Hayase since it had been a long time since they had met.

After this long, it was inevitable that their relationship had become close or else Lin Fan would have long let Hayase go. It wasn’t as if he would lack the power that Hayase possessed since there were others that he could rely on.

So he didn’t want Hayase doing something unless he was certain that it was safe for him.

In a way, Lin Fan was almost like Hayase’s mother.

Hayase didn’t say anything as he watched Lin Fan looking at him like this.

Though he had a dragon face and didn’t show expressions the same way as humans did, Lin Fan was able to read his face after knowing him for so long.

He could see that there was a complicated look of hesitation that was on Hayase’s face as he looked at him.

But even then, Lin Fan didn’t back down.

So after a long silence, Hayase finally said, “It’s a secret of the dragon race, but I’ll tell you.”

He took another sigh before saying, “Dragons can use the bloodline of other dragons to refine their own bloodline. It’s not something that’s done often since there are so few of us that we normally wouldn’t meet each other. But there have been cases where dragons have attacked each other to steal their bloodlines.”

Then after a pause, he added, “But that practice was causing our race to decline instead of grow, so the elders banned it.”

Lin Fan raised a brow and looked at the Lesser Red Dragon that was sleeping in front of them.

“It doesn’t count for lesser dragons. Lesser dragons don’t count as real dragons, so the rules don’t apply to them.” Hayase said with a trace of disdain in his voice.

Truly a world of dog eat dog…or rather dragon eat dragon.

But that was just how it was in nature.

Still, that didn’t explain one thing.

“There’s no need for you to take it down alone, is there?” Lin Fan asked all of a sudden.

There was an awkward look that appeared on Hayase’s face before he said, “I want to test how strong I’ve become. This lesser dragon is the perfect test for me.”

Lin Fan once again raised a brow, but this time it wasn’t because he was planning on stopping Hayase.

Rather, it was because he was doubtful of what Hayase said.

He said that this lesser dragon would be the perfect test for him, but would that really be the case?

After all, Hayase was already equal to the Peak Qi Condensation Realm while this lesser dragon was only close to someone in the Low Qi Condensation Realm. Since they were both dragons, they would both have the special abilities of the dragon race that would cancel out.

No, since Hayase was a true dragon while the one in front of them was a lesser dragon, it should mean that Hayase’s racial abilities should be stronger than that of the Lesser Red Dragon.

So it should mean that Hayase would be able to easily take it down.

And the difference between the two of them easily showed itself as Hayase was able to take care of the Lesser Red Dragon in just a single moment.

The Lesser Red Dragon tried to fight back, but there was just nothing that it could do against Hayase’s attacks that were stronger than its own.

The fact that it was able to last a moment was all because of Hayase holding back since he wanted to test his abilities. But in the end, the Lesser Red Dragon just didn’t put up any resistance and didn’t let him test himself.

So Hayase looked disappointed once the fight was over.

Lin Fan just had a faint smile on his face since he had already expected this.

But instead of pointing this out, he just said, “Aren’t you going to absorb the Lesser Red Dragon’s bloodline?”

Hayase was pulled back from his daze when he heard this before giving a nod and moved towards the Lesser Red Dragon. Only he stopped before he actually did anything to the Lesser Red Dragon.

That was because he turned around to look at Lin Fan with another look of hesitation.

Lin Fan didn’t need him to say anything this time to guess why Hayase looked back at him.

“Do you want me to leave you alone for a bit?” Lin Fan said in a considerate voice.

The matter of absorbing bloodlines was a secret to the dragon race, so he was certain that Hayase didn’t want him to see it. Though it would be a lie to say that there wasn’t a part of him that wasn’t curious about this which was why he didn’t leave sooner.

However, to Lin Fan’s surprise…

“No, you can stay and watch. I actually want you to see how much stronger I become.” Hayase said after a moment of silence.

Lin Fan was surprised to hear this, but he gave a nod in response.

With that, Hayase started absorbing the bloodline of the Lesser Red Dragon.

Though it was him absorbing the bloodline of the Lesser Red Dragon, what he actually did seemed a bit crude compared to how it sounded.

Instead of controlling the blood to leave the Lesser Red Dragon’s body and enter his own, what Hayase did was bite right into the neck of the Lesser Red Dragon and start to suck.

It seemed that he was draining the blood from the Lesser Red Dragon’s body.

Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling strange seeing Hayase do this, but he didn’t say anything as he waited for him to finish.

Though there was a part of him that imagined that this was part of the reason why Hayase didn’t want him to see him doing this. After all, this didn’t really seem like a good thing to watch.

It took a while of sucking before Hayase was finally finished with absorbing the bloodline of the Lesser Red Dragon.

Once he was done, Lin Fan could feel the aura around Hayase start to change.

It was as if the power that he possessed was being compressed inside of him.

When he felt this, Lin Fan didn’t hesitate to call out the system panel and look at Hayase’s stats.

When he saw them, he couldn’t help being surprised.

After all, he watched as the levels that Hayase possessed previously seemed to disappear.

Before this, Hayase was close to reaching the cap of level 100, which was why his strength didn’t grow as quickly as before. But now it seemed that he was retaining his power even though he was losing levels.

It didn’t seem like anything else changed even though Hayase was losing levels like this.

That was until there was something else that changed in his status.

It was the part that listed his race and his grade.

He went from Water Dragon (Youth): Grade Five Magic Beast to Water Dragon: Grade Seven Magic Beast.

Just absorbing the bloodline had allowed Hayase to mature himself into a real dragon and had even increased the grade of magic beast he was. It was no wonder he had become stronger enough though he lost the levels that he had previously.

Once he finished, the aura around him stabilized.

Hayase had gotten stronger even though he lost his levels.

He went from a dragon that was equal to the Peak Qi Condensation Realm to a dragon that was equal to the Low Golden Core Realm.

And this was all when he was still level one.

It wasn’t hard for Lin Fan to imagine just how strong Hayase would become in the future.
