Chapter 2862: Lin Mu's Progress In Skills And TechniquesChapter 2862: Lin Mu's Progress In Skills And Techniques
In terms of his combat techniques, Lin Mu had made solid advancements as well.
He had fully mastered the Elephant Shredding Bolt and Foot Swallowing Tar Bomb skills he had obtained during his expedition through the Bridge Plan.
He had also refined his movement technique, the Cloud Dragon Stride, reaching the peak of the second stage—Cloudless Steps.
Now he could create clouds without even needing to use the movement technique. His next goal was to reach the third stage, which was called Dragon Cloud Steps. It was where the clouds would take the form of dragons, each of their movements turbulent and powerful, obscuring the user's motion.
But that was easier said than done.
It wasn't as simple as just molding the clouds into the shape of dragons. Lin Mu could do that even now.
No.
It required him to create the dragon clouds without even thinking about it. The clouds themselves needed to will themselves into dragons.
Other than this, Lin Mu had also tried learning the second skill from one of the two Grand Bagua Mythic Series he had obtained: the Mud Rot Fist.
But with that, he was absolutely unable to progress.
He needed to grasp the Marsh Dao for it, which he seemed to have no inclination for.
The Marsh Dao was a derivative Dao that was born from Earth, Water, and Wood Daos.
Among them, Lin Mu had a natural affinity to the Earth Dao, and his comprehension of the Water Dao had improved due to the Water Core's growth. It was the same for the Wood Dao, as Lin Mu's Wood Core was the largest so far. But despite that, it was still nowhere near enough for him to begin learning the skill.
He reckoned that only when he gained full affinity with the Water and Wood Daos would he be able to begin learning the skill.
But that would only happen when his Water and Wood Cores reached completion.
The Spectral Phantasm Strike was one technique he had made the most progress in. Even back in the teleportation channel, Lin Mu had managed to grasp the essence of the skill, being able to create an illusion that lacked all but the physical aspect.
He could perfectly replicate the sound, the light, and the aura of the illusion, but he still couldn't create the actual image itself.
However, he was close to it now, as a vague blurry image could be seen every time he practiced the skill. It almost looked like his hand was branching into two.
Lin Mu reckoned he was only lacking further proficiency with the Water Dao and a better understanding of the Wind Dao to enhance his grasp of the Air Dao—so that he could eventually create a perfect replica of his movements.
The Saintess had helped him several times over these few years, each lesson assisting him in improving considerably. She even created a few visual illusions for him, helping him understand how the completed skill would look.
It was a rather pleasant time for her too, as she enjoyed training Lin Mu. They also got to talk more during this period and grew a bit closer.
To her, the years that had passed might as well have been just a few days.
She had lived a long time, after all.
Lin Mu occasionally asked if it was fine for her to be away from her sect for so long, and only received the answer that it may as well have been a day for them. They were used to her not being an active participant for thousands of years at a time.
Though she did ask Lin Mu if he had thought more about becoming the Peak Head of the Scholar Peak.
Lin Mu had gained quite a lot of experience over these years, training and teaching not only Meng Bai but also the monks. He realized that he enjoyed it quite a bit and readily agreed that he would do the same when he joined the Scholar Peak.
The Saintess was quite pleased by this and couldn't help but look forward to the day they would return to the Serpent Moon Sect.
But as Lin Mu trained all the skills that were currently available to him, he realized there wasn't much more he could do to grow them further. He could only wait patiently as the growth came to him naturally.
After a year had passed since Meng Bai's breakthrough to the Nascent Soul realm, Little Shrubby came to him.
The beasts had gotten used to temple life and often wandered around. The monks had also grown accustomed to them by now and didn't mind them causing a little trouble. If anything, they welcomed the joyful respite brought on by their small pranks and antics. It added a bit of flavor to their otherwise mundane lives.
The beasts had also explored areas around and beyond the temple's territory. Once Lin Mu was sure they were behaving, he allowed them to go past its borders.
The beasts took full advantage of it, exploring the nearby kingdoms and regions, bringing back gifts for Lin Mu as well as ingredients for their meals.
Little Shrubby had expanded his knowledge of cooking by a lot and had already begun writing his own cookbook.
He often asked Lin Mu questions about how to write a book, so the man wondered if he had come for the same thing today.
"Master?" Little Shrubby asked softly, not wanting to disturb Lin Mu's meditation.
"Yes?" Lin Mu opened his eyes. "More questions?" he asked.
"Not exactly," Little Shrubby replied.
"Oh? What is it then?" Lin Mu wondered.
"I… think I found something," Little Shrubby said, his tone uncertain.
"New ingredient?" Lin Mu asked curiously.
"Well, I thought I did… but it seems to be different," Little Shrubby replied.
"Huh…" Lin Mu raised his brows in intrigue.
"It will be easier if I just show you," Little Shrubby stated.
"Alright, let's go take a look," Lin Mu said, standing up with interest. He was also curious about what Little Shrubby had discovered this time.
