Chapter 548 SCARY UNCLE (2)
July's heart thumped wildly, she couldn't even think straight as she walked toward the kitchen, where Rhea told her Knox was.
She must have seen it wrong, right? She must be imagining things, right? There was no way Knox would be there in the kitchen.
July felt as if her feet were a lot heavier than usual, which dragged her down when she walked toward the kitchen to find what Rhea said was true. Knox was there, leaning against the wall, sitting on the floor. His head was lulled to a side and he looked extremely pale, as his brows furrowed deeply.
He seemed to be in so much pain and the first thought that rushed to her mind was to hold him close in her arms.
"Knox?" July immediately approached him and knelt down next to him. She extended her hand to touch his face and felt how cold his skin was. He was unconscious, but he whimpered slightly when he felt July's hand. "Knox, what happened to you?"
July began to panic when Knox's breathing turned erratic. He had never been like this before. What caused him to be like this?
The only person that she could think of was Chaos.
Since Knox was his shattered soul, the only person that was capable of hurting him must be Chaos.
But, why? Was it because of Rhea? Did he know already that Rhea was his shattered soul? Did Knox tell him and things didn't end well, that was why he was here now in this condition?
There were a lot of questions that roamed around her mind, but she couldn't get a single answer out of the unconscious Knox.
Her heart ached to see his condition and right at that time, someone opened the main door, as she heard the cracking sound of the door and immediately stood up. Horror filled her eyes.
It couldn't be the devil, he wouldn't need to walk through the door, thus it must be a human. Was it Sol? Sebastian?
She didn't know what to do if it was Sol, since he would never let go of the chance to get his hands on Knox.
With that thought, July immediately dashed out toward the door. She felt her mind go numb with a lot of pressure.
=========================
Zuri hated it, but she had to admit what Tia said was true; she couldn't just sit and wait, until everything got solved on its own. It was stupid and delusional to think things would get better in that way.
Therefore, early in the morning, she went to Tia's bedroom and met Coza. She was the same woman who had prevented Zuri from going in to see Tia when Chaos lost his control.
"This is too early," she said curtly, she had never talked warmly to Zuri, even though she knew that she was Tia's granddaughter.
It was not that she wanted her to treat her differently…
"It's okay, I can wait for her inside," Zuri said in the same tone, she didn't give a damn about her, she just treated Coza the way she treated her.
"You are not allowed to go inside."
"Who said so? My grandmother? Should we ask her about this when she wakes up later?" Zuri looked at her sharply, this was not the first time Coza denied her presence in her own grandmother's bedroom. She seemed to have a strange obsession with asserting her power on someone else.
Moreover, Tia had given her permission to enter her bedroom if she wanted to.
On the other hand, seeing that Zuri wouldn't budge, she stepped aside and finally let her enter the room, where Tia was still sleeping, because this was indeed still early in the morning.
"Grandma, wake up," Zuri called her, as she sat down next to her grandmother's bed, while Coza came after her and stared at her intensely, she was displeased.
"You can't wake her up like that, she needs to sleep for a few more hours." Coza went to stop Zuri. "She will get a headache if you wake her up this early in the morning."
Zuri frowned. "She usually wakes up at this hour."
She was sure that it was only a few minutes earlier than her usual time to wake up, since this old lady was a morning person.
"She needs to sleep seven hours per day, or else, she will get a headache when she wakes up and grumbles for the whole day."
"So, you want to say that she always sleeps less than seven hours? All that grumbles came from lack of sleep? Because she grumbles every day."
Coza pressed her lips, as if she wanted to stop herself from smiling at Zuri's comment. "What do you want with her?"
Zuri sighed deeply and then stood up to sit down on a chair nearby. She narrowed her eyes at the sun that started to rise, but still it looked so gloomy around this part of the world. How could they live in a place like this, where the weather screamed out of desperation?
"I want her to resume my training sessions." Zuri didn't want to admit it, but she knew that she was at fault here and even though what Tia said was harsh, that was the truth, she couldn't just sit idly and wait for a miracle to happen.
There was no such thing in this world.
"You can train with me," Coza suggested.
"Hm?" Zuri tilted her head up to look at her.
"I can train you." Coza rolled her eyes at the lack of response from Zuri. "I am your grandmother's right hand person, if you can beat me, I think you have a high chance of winning against your grandmother. I heard you are helpless in your training."
Zuri pouted her lips when she heard that. She was not that helpless, but she couldn't say that she was good either.
"I think what you need is motivation. Don't you want to try it?"
"What? You want to motivate me? Is it training or counseling that you are offering to me?"
"I think we have made it very clear that I have no patience to be your counselor." She glanced at Zuri over her shoulder and spoke in a commanding tone. "Follow me."
Zuri frowned, but she got up and followed her nevertheless. She was genuinely curious if all the members of this white wolf pack had this kind of personality? Their personality was really awful.
But then, Zuri couldn't say that her personality was stellar either.
This pack was not like any other pack, there were only women here and her grandmother was the head of only thirty nine pack members.
There was no beta or gamma either, but Zuri thought Coza would suit the role of the beta of this pack.

"How is he?" July asked Sebastian.
Thankfully, it was Sebastian, who came home early and helped July bring Knox to the bedroom, because if it was not for him, she wouldn't have been able to carry him herself. He was twice her size.
"I don't know, but he looks bad," Sebastian muttered, he was not a doctor nor was he a supernatural creature, thus he didn't know what to say about Knox's condition.
Yet, the look of worry in July's eyes hurt him.
He thought she had gotten over him, but it seemed, she just buried her feelings so well that he didn't notice it at all.
"I will check on Rhea," Sebastian said, he didn't see July in the eyes and he thought it would be better to remove himself from this room because he wouldn't be able to see her break down for another man.
The thought was so ridiculous to him because if he had to tell the truth, it was him, who was the other man in their relationship, even after they had spent six years together, there was nothing that had changed from that and he would always be the outsider between them.
"Daddy?" Rhea called him, she sat down and rubbed her sleepy eyes.
Sebastian immediately approached the little girl and sat down on the edge of her bed, as he caressed her head and nudged her to lay back again. "Why are you still awake, honey?"
"Where is mommy?" Rhea asked him. Her mother promised her to read her a story, but she didn't come and she fell asleep because she was tired of waiting.
"Mommy…" Sebastian took a deep breath. "Mommy has something to do."
Rhea then blinked her eyes and looked at Sebastian closely, she was silent for a while, before she spoke in a small voice. "Why are you sad, daddy?" she stretched out her hands and touched his face. She looked so worried.
It was ironic, while her mother was worried about her real father, their daughter was worried about him.
"I am not sad."
"You are sad, daddy." She pouted her lips because she could tell he was lying to her.
"I am not." Sebastian shook his head and then smiled brightly at her, but he seemed to understand that the little girl was sensitive and this was what Rhea felt, despite his effort to show her that he was fine.
"Is it because of the scary uncle?" Rhea asked him, she was genuinely concerned about him.
Hearing her addressing Knox as a scary uncle, for some petty reason, Sebastian was a little happy. This was ridiculous and he knew that.
"No. He is not scary actually."
"No, he is scary." Rhea insisted.
