After tending his wounds and repairing his gear, Jake went to sleep, and he slept for quite a while. Even though he had decided previously that he would need to increase his exploration speed in order to find possible places where the leaders of the criminals could be using as a base.
"I didn't get any loot or materials this time, so perhaps I should look for equipment in some dungeons… I should be able to find something good since my fame increased a fair bit," Jake thought. "However, I was also thinking of buying some Intel from some guilds about classes. I have a few, and they are leveling up steadily, but the more, the merrier…"
Jake recalled that perhaps he could find that kind of information in other places and from other types of people like that Walled city of the lion people. They could also use the system, so they must know some classes and the equipment necessary to get those. Perhaps even some special classes…
"My bones are still bothering me, so I should spend the day looking for that kind of Intel," Jake thought.
Jake decided to check first the walled city of the lion people. Although only a few days had passed since the attack, the whole place had already been repaired, and the number of humans around had decreased considerably. Frederick's groupies probably still were lurking around, but that probably wasn't something Jake had to worry about.
"Hello, I would like to buy some information. Do you know where I can find someone that deals with that?" Jake asked to a random guard. "It is about classes."
Jake figured that asking a guard about an information broker wouldn't be the smartest thing he could do. Who knows what they would think that he wanted to know? Even if they recognized him and they knew that he had helped them clear the dungeon, some things still needed to be treated with care. Reputation can be useful as well. Even if Jake didn't care much about it, as long as it is useful and worth the time to cultivate it, Jake would prevent misunderstandings.
"You must be the one who cleared the dungeon the other day. While you are not one of us, we can at least repay the favor," One of the guards replied. "At our base, we have a panel that teaches the rookies the gear that they need for the simple classes. As for the special ones, we don't let that kind of intel leak."
"Fair enough," Jake said.
Jake had heard the lion guards had a base of operations where they had meetings and organized their actions. Aside from that, he had heard that they were something in similar cities on that world, and they were more like an adventurers guild that focused on the protection of the cities against monsters. They weren't like a real police force but like a militia that was recognized by the people since they didn't ask much in exchange for their services. Jake wondered why they simply didn't have an adventurers guild or something… that was a weird way to develop things.
Nevertheless, the guard told one of his underlings to guide Jake and make sure that no one would block his entrance into their base. After fifteen minutes of a walk, they arrived at a three-store tall building that was the size of a block… it was like an adventurers guild, and yet, they didn't operate like one. In any case, the lion people in the place looked at Jake for a while, but soon they lost interest when they saw the other guard with him.
They went to the second floor, and there they entered a room with some books and scrolls. On the right side of the room, there was a huge board with the specifications necessary for the classes and what they could do.
"I guess he will stay here with me until I leave," Jake thought while he approached the board and looked at the guard.
As one would expect from the lion people, they already had found the way to get the most basic melee classes. Still, the number of them wasn't that high and since they didn't feel the need to use the system often, they didn't obtain or find a way to get many special classes. Although the guard said that they were keeping the information of some hidden, they still displayed how to get classes like Guard, Warlord, and Pirate, and those were pretty rare.
"The only ones that I don't have are Alchemist, Merchant, and Spearman…" Jake thought. "I suppose this is fine, and the items can be obtained in the dungeon shop as well."
Jake was looking forward to those classes, they had added some descriptions of the classes and what they could do, so they would be useful for Jake, very useful… In the end, he left the place after thanking the guards for help. It was quite tiresome to be so cordial, but he didn't have much of a choice when the other side was so nice.
When Jake headed to the dungeon of that world, he only found a couple of trents blocking his path. It seemed that Frederick sent his guys to come there and deal with the monsters whenever possible. That was Jake disliked diplomacy… he was used to people being assholes to him, so he felt really complicated when he had to be diplomatic. Nevertheless, to obtain the classes, Jake bought a pair of gloves, an amulet, and a three-pointed spear. Those didn't grant him skills, but they granted him some status points.
