When Jake appeared at his next location, he immediately realized that he would be in trouble. There… the humidity was low, and the environment was as hot as it could be. It was only natural since he was in the middle of a rocky desert. He could see the atmosphere vibrating on the horizon… although he didn't stay there for long, his nose was starting to burn due to the weather as well. It would be a good place to level up his Heat and Fire Resistance apparently, but he wondered if he would be able to withstand the mental strain. Getting hit directly by the enemy was a lot less annoying than that.
"The worst kind of place for someone wearing heavy armor…" Jake said and then grabbed his dark cloak. "It isn't much, but it will help."
When Jake saw those three, he thought that perhaps he would have to take his plants to somewhere else. Probably, another world that he could be used as a basis, and he wouldn't be found so easily. It wasn't like he would be hiding from them, but he had to be careful now, and that kind of place was really too simple.
"Well… not this planet," Jake said.
Jake looked at the horizon from all distances since the system never teleported him to the middle of a battlefield. Fortunately, he noticed that there were some red things flying in the distance; they were probably his targets.
"I would dare to say that this mission isn't much popular, and given how many days I have left to deal with this… I will have a lot of work ahead," Jake said after sighing.
Since one of the mission's rewards was a special class, Jake couldn't complain, and he had to work hard to deserve that. Still, he couldn't help but worry… he won't have many chances to rest in that kind of place, so his condition would only worsen. If he fights a dangerous fire boss when he is exhausted, things might get dangerous.
Instead of running, Jake headed toward the enemies while keeping his pace. He couldn't start wearing himself out that soon, after all. Fortunately, he just had to walk for two hours before he found their territory.

Although they were called crows, those creatures were five times bigger than the real ones… or perhaps it was rude to call them fake. Regardless, they had crimson feathers, but those emitted a red aura that looked like flames. Jake was almost sure that was a passive defensive skill that caused fire damage to enemies that attacked those creatures. Aside from that, they had orange claws and beaks that probably could cause fire damage over time. Jake had no idea why he was thinking about that when he never saw that monster fighting.
"I forgot to consider this… but flying enemies aren't kind the worst type of creature I can deal with?" Jake thought.
Eventually, the monsters noticed Jake's presence, so he will have to learn how to deal with them while practicing. Unfortunately, those four monsters didn't try to get on his range. They just fired some Fireballs using their mouths. Jake sidestepped to dodge two of those and swung his sword to block the remaining. Thanks to the effects of Freezing Longswong, the weather improved a little, but those attacks still made it more than a bit uncomfortable.
"Time to level up Fire Resistance. I guess," Jake thought.
The monsters insisted on that tactic that failed again and again until they flapped their wings and fired Fire Arrows. Those were faster, so Jake didn't have time to dodge them. Still, he blocked them with his sword, but the explosions pushed him back a little.

"I can do this all day, you know," Jake said. "Still, I want to see if your meat tastes like chicken, so don't make me wait for too long."
It was hard to imagine the ember crows understanding his taunt, but Jake soon saw them grunting to each other and then flying toward him. Their speed was also quite something, so Jake got severe. When they got close enough to beak him all at the same time, Jake used Cyclone Strike to repel their advance, and while he succeeded, the impact pushed him backward. There were small in scale, but some explosions happened upon contact. Unfortunately, they didn't affect the ember crows.
"As expected, their beaks also have that kind of effect… those creatures must be quite resistant to fire," Jake thought.
Despite that, the crows looked a bit uncomfortable because Jake caused some damage with his skill and because of the effect of his weapon. He tried to attack them first the next time, but they moved away from him. After flying in circles for a while, they tried to attack Jake directly from all sides again, but he was expecting that.
When the monsters were about to attack him from all sides and at the same time, Jake combined Cyclone Strike and Freezing Touch. This time, he wasn't pushed backward and saw the monsters trembling in the air. Their beaks finally got some damage since he used an ice-based attack to counter their element.
Naturally, even if Jake combined two skills, he couldn't kill the monsters when their strength was split against four targets, so he used that brief window of time to chop the heads off two of them.

The other two crows tried to move away when they realized that close-ranged combat was Jake's bread and butter, but he didn't let them.
