Was there any way for Atlas to say, "Horus is trapped in the underworld," without sending the sixteen of them into a panic?
In simple words, no. There was not. The moment they heard it, all of them went ballistic with an array of questions. They wanted to know everything about the situation so that they could do something about it.
"Horus is alive in the underworld. That is all I know. None of you will be able to easily achieve all of the conditions to reach the underworld before I can, so sit back and allow me to do the work. If you are so concerned, then we can exchange communication talismans. That way, you can be aware of my progress."
It was the most Atlas could say to calm them down. It wasn’t that they couldn’t enter the underworld, but would they be able to do so quicker than him?
He had already completed most of the steps and now only needed to challenge the Hell Guardian. What held him back were his obligations in the real world.
’I still have to go to the meeting that Alaric arranged so that I can be aware of what will happen in the outside world while I am in the underworld.’
Only after that conference could Atlas do anything.
At this point, it wasn’t far away at all.
He had to ask Kusko and the rest to trust him.
They didn’t. As he didn’t trust them, they had no way of trusting him. However, they had no choice but to accept his words. At the end of the day, exchanging communication talismans was a way to build the trust they were lacking. There was no point in complaining about it now.
There was hesitation in their eyes. They didn’t want to let Atlas go without getting anything more definitive out of him.
But, Kusko held them back, and surprisingly enough, the buff man named Ganon helped him do so.
After telling them to contact him after the conflict in Alfros ended, he was able to leave the cave hideout without any interference.
’That was…interesting.’
They didn’t question him about the golden arrow.
’Well, they likely believe that I left it in the vault at the Phoenix Palace. When I said that I would deliver it for them, did they think that I was going to steal it back or take it for myself?’
Perhaps they even thought that he was bluffing. It was a little funny when he thought about it.
’They are quite the ragtag group. I would never expect someone like Horus to surround himself with such people.’
Then again, only such people could bring out the side of Horus that they loved so much. It was nice to see that the man had relationships like these in the Tower.
’But, the fact that they are unrelated to this phenomenon
BOOM!
’...is troublesome, to say the least.’
Now, there were no leads. The best bet was to follow the phoenixes and hope to encounter enemies. They had spread in every direction, so there had to be at least a decent number of enemies, but why were they nowhere near the palace?
’Hmm
He was too far away from the palace to want to go back. It was only around a hundred kilometers, but he knew that those one hundred kilometers were empty and filled with nothing but impact craters.
’I remember seeing a few streaks of light moving in this direction
Atlas thought about when he watched the phoenixes mobilize.
He could only follow the trajectories in his mind with the optimistic thought that he would find something if he just kept moving.
His presence had much more of an impact on the lives of those sixteen than they did on him. While they continued to discuss their meeting with the strange masked man named Atlas, he moved on entirely. ɌἁƝŏВÈṤ
And though hopes wouldn’t always come true, Atlas’ hopes in this moment did.
As he breezed through the scenery of Alfros, he came across a qi that had become familiar to him earlier the very same day. There were phoenixes fighting in the distance.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Huge waves of flame spread into the atmosphere. The fact that such a fierce battle was happening was enough to prove that the neutrality of the world had been destroyed.
Atlas arrived closer to the battle but still kept enough distance to observe without being seen.
The two women of the Phoenix Clan, one of whom he recognized as Feng Ziran, were fighting against people in black and silver clothes.
Their faces weren’t covered by masks or hoods, but they also weren’t recognizable people. It almost seemed like they specifically had the most basic faces imaginable, faces that even cultivators could forget.
Their techniques were just as illusory. The air around the group of four fighters was constantly shifting. Several projections of different beasts and objects appeared, confusing Feng Ziran and her companion.
’The Dao of Illusion?’
If Atlas was remembering correctly, it was a branch of the Dao of Light used to create illusions more powerful than those created by formations.
Since there was a direct connection between the cultivator and the qi, the versatility of these illusions was far beyond what was possible for a formation of the same level.
’Cultivators who follow this Dao are hard to find, as it can only be passed down by those who already practice it.’
Illusions existed in nature in a very small quantity. To comprehend fire or water, one could just find fire or water at any place and feel the element for themselves.
What about illusion?
Every practitioner of the Dao had to create their own techniques and formulate their own understandings based off of the small and rare examples that they could see and feel. Unless there was a tutor to guide them on the correct path, there wasn’t a path for them to follow at all.
’Yet, two of such cultivators are here.’
And they were opposing the Feng Clan.

’Did they come to Alfros due to a personal grudge, or do they have a goal?’
It clearly wasn’t the treasures of the Feng Clan, because they’d already missed the best opportunity to steal those. Someone else had taken it instead.
’They won’t tell me anything.’
They were winning the fight as well, so there wasn’t an opportunity to wait for them to retreat and follow them.
’Then, I’ll just create it.’
Atlas jumped out of his hiding spot and started running. Two sickles appeared in his hands, attached to his wrists by chains. They were soon covered in great amounts of qi.
[Astral Step]
With one step, Atlas moved at an extreme speed in a straight line and found himself in the middle of the battle.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Attacks were ringing out around him, but he put them out of his mind. His eyes went to the two enemies and recognized instantly which one was closer to him. He pressed his foot into the ground once again and launched himself, this time fully prepared to attack.
[Harvest Moon]
His sickle blades moved to execute an attack that became available to Atlas through the Grand Arsenal.
The goal was to make these two people run so they could lead Atlas to more of their friends.
Easy enough, right?
