Tower of Heaven

Chapter 285: Invitation [2]

This kind of event wasn't mentioned anywhere in Atlas' original plans. He actually wasn't planning to "build" Pangea at all until everything was over. It was a Society he formed on his own, but he never planned to take full ownership of it.

The offer that came from Alkatiya was to provide forces for Pangea that would be loyal to them.

Atlas was naturally prone to take this offer, as they would be immensely useful in expanding the Society Legend. However, at the same time, he didn't quite want to accept any new members for the moment.

'That is why I must learn their intentions. If those troops can be used without directly accepting them into the Society, it will be best to take them. Then, after they have been vetted, I can consider permanent admissions.'

However, before even that, he had to see if this deal was one worth taking at all.

Perhaps because of the combination of his intuition and the knowledge that this was the Society Cain was part of, Atlas had the feeling that he didn't need to question their desire to help him without asking much in return.

Cain was always that kind of person. He was insane and twisted, but his insanity didn't always lead him to evil. He had an inclination for slaughter that made him dangerous, but Atlas had no choice but to admit that he never had as much fun in battle as he did when they were fighting.

Their relationship was neither one of friends nor enemies. It was one of rivals who had completely different viewpoints on life and the world. They were never going to understand each other, but that didn't necessarily mean they had to hold enmity for each other.

Atlas remembered the scene of Cain laughing as he accepted defeat back then. That twisted expression…

He shook his head.

'Regardless of the reason, if he is alive, I have to know. He isn't a person that can be allowed to move in the shadows for too long.'

Atlas' thoughts were as if he already knew that Cain was alive. Even when left the pagoda a few days later and used the communication talisman the six men gave him, he believed he would hear Cain's voice on the other side.

"I am contacting you regarding a deal you proposed."

The voice that responded did indeed have a sort of malicious flare to it, but it was not Cain.

Of course, even if he was alive, it wouldn't be so easy.

"Indeed. The Sixth Brothers delivered the message well. Have you chosen to accept our proposal?"

Atlas frowned.

"Not yet. I would like to meet you personally so we can discuss the details. If you are aware of who I am, then you should also know that I am not the type to carelessly accept anything." ṝÄƝỐ฿Ęs

"Hahaha…indeed, it is as you say. Arranging a meeting is not difficult, however, it is difficult for me to meet you personally. Shall I send an envoy in my place?"

"I thought you wanted to meet me in return for your aid."

"That is…true, however, there are circumstances that you can only understand in the future. There is no need to question them now."

The voice on the other side paused for a moment as if he was thinking something over or perhaps listening to the words of someone nearby.

"The envoy will arrive in Alfros soon. Please be prepared to welcome him."

"Hmm…"

Atlas didn't say anything as the line between the two talismans was cut.

Normally, he would have chosen to host a meeting with an unknown entity in Vanatos to show off his backing and suppress them, but he chose not to do so. He accepted that they would meet him in Alfros.

After all, independence was a necessary thing. He couldn't rely on the Azure Dragons forever.

'On that note…'

Considering what Alaric said, Jason and his group were likely meeting Adella around this time and trying to enter Divine Sanctuary.

'Everyone else is also moving towards their goals without pause. They are relying on others as well, but only out of necessity. They are not begging for help. They are desperately fighting to earn the right to request it.'

Atlas learned to respect Jason after their last encounter. Someone willing to go so far to protect his people could never be an unworthy person.

'If they can be bold as fledglings who know almost nothing of the world, then what am I doing hesitating?'

He was an old bastard, for crying out loud. After living for over ten millennia, wasn't he supposed to be most assured in his every movement?

The unknown world was terrifying and had to be treated with caution, but that didn't mean Atlas had to be passive in every interaction.

The people of the Tower had been approaching him from the very start with their own intentions, whether good or bad. Atlas was moving on his own path, but it was being influenced by so many different people.

'There is nothing negative about interacting with the world and others. In fact, Legends are things that grow more when one acts with others.'

The scope of one's achievements would be much greater when they were mixed into the achievements of other cultivators. So-called "Joint Legends" were the building blocks of Society Legends and even greater concepts that even Atlas was currently unaware of.

'Training will need to be placed on hold for the moment.'

It wasn't that he was going to stop training. It was only that he was going to spend his time in the outside world, which meant he didn't receive the advantages of the pagoda's unique time flow.

'I took my first excursion after only three months to leave myself with one week of time that can be used in case anything happens. It seems this is the use of that time.'

The man from Alkatiya did not tell him when the envoy would be arriving, but he assumed that it would at least take a few days.

'Since I have time, let me make a visit there as well.'

He knew the location of the Vermillion Bird Clan before he even went to Alfros. He knew where all of the Divine Beast Clans were located and had the means to contact them if necessary.

'Of course, they will not house me like the Tatsuya Clan.'

The Feng Clan of Vermillion Birds had a good opinion of him because of his actions during the Blood Moon Phenomenon, but if he went there, he would only receive basic accommodation and amenities that would help him during his stay in Alfros.

Nevertheless, he wanted to go and attempt to form a connection there as well.

'The four Divine Beast Clans are each connected to one of the primary Daos. Training with them will not be disappointing.'

Atlas made his way there without much more thought.

Where he once stood, the ground melted into lava, and the presence of a living being appeared.

It glanced at his receding back with an amused expression.

'I have never seen someone like him.'

Atlas couldn't feel it because he was not a being of such great status yet, but that being could.

Stay tuned with empire

'The aura of Legend on him is already far greater than it was one month ago.'

A Hell Guardian was a being with a purpose. It wasn't meant to do anything unrelated to its purpose.

However, when a challenger appeared for the first time in a long time, it couldn't help but be curious.

Would this one fall as well, or would he overcome the challenge?

As he saw that man improve through his visits to Alfros, he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation.

This challenger…

He had high hopes for the battle they would fight.
