Chapter 143: You Think You Are Enough?

At that point, Lu Xuan felt like a demon who had just climbed out of hell. While there was not even a speck of blood to be found on his body, his presence inspired immense fear and dread.
Threatening him by attacking his family had long since crossed the line in his mind.
“You’re going too far, Lu Xuan!”
Song Maoxun’s eyes were red, and he was so furious that his entire body was shaking.
“I see. So everyone’s here, then. Nice. I could get rid of you people in one go. From this day on, the Song Clan shall be history,” Lu Xuan stated plainly.
“Don’t go around thinking you can just do whatever you want!” Song Maoxun gritted his teeth.
He had never been cornered like that since the day he’d become the Patriarch of the clan.
He was one of the most formidable beings found in the world, be it in terms of power bestowed by his status or that bestowed by his cultivation level.
The Song Clan had never had its gates kicked down in its history. If someone had told him in the past that such a day would come, he would have absolutely taken those words to be the ravings of a lunatic.
Today, he finally learned what it meant for someone to possess unbridled boldness and recklessness.
The same sentiment was shared by all the other higher-ups. They were all giants in the world of cultivators, and the Song Clan had never been in such a position as they were at that very moment.
“So I’m the one doing whatever I want, then?” Lu Xuan smirked. “The others know little to nothing about the forces behind you people, so you a**holes think I don’t know anything, either? You sorry pieces of sh*t are just dogs serving under the Holy Dragon Syndicate, getting scraps and bones as a reward for serving your masters. Now that the spirit qi is being restored to the world, I guess you have forgotten the fact that you are all just dogs, and you’re the ones who are throwing your weight around, not me!”
The higher-ups of the Song Clan all looked grim by then. They never expected Lu Xuan to have looked into them so thoroughly.
Frankly, such a long time had passed that they had indeed forgotten that they were just lackeys of the Holy Dragon Syndicate.
The Song Clan had been around for generations since acquiring the legacies of the Holy Dragon Syndicate. However, spirit qi had yet to be restored back then, so the clan had been laying low for a long time, growing in the shadows.
They had gradually gotten in touch with the Holy Dragon Syndicate through various means over the years, establishing the Holy Dragon Corporation with the other clans.
All of them had attained fame, glory, and wealth since then, enabling them to rise above the rabble.
All who were present at the moment were members beyond the third generation since the corporation’s establishment, and their fear of the Holy Dragon Syndicate had long ceased. The syndicate was unable to get to them, anyway. As such, all of them even got to thinking that they could call themselves the equals of the syndicate, imagining that both parties were doing things as equal partners.
The only time the Holy Dragon Syndicate came to mind was during times of crisis when they would ask for aid.
This very moment was one of those times.
Yet Lu Xuan tore that facade away right before them, revealing and reminding them that they were just dogs like they had always been.
The higher-ups were both flustered and enraged by this.
Lu Xuan, on the other hand, looked rather amused. He knew all too well what was happening before him. Those sects and clans that were hidden from the world back in his past life had gone on a killing spree with those ‘dogs’ they kept the moment they finally emerged from hiding, then they had replaced the ones they’d killed. He had seen more than enough similar things happen before.
Only a handful of lackeys that showed unparalleled loyalty were allowed to live.
While the people before Lu Xuan all behaved as if they were supreme beings who stood above mortals, they were but walking skeletons whose days were numbered in Lu Xuan’s eyes.
“Kil him!” Song Maoxun roared, and the higher-ups all whipped out their guns right there and then, firing away at Lu Xuan.
Those higher-ups were all Level Five Baodan Grandmasters and above, with a good number of Martial Arts Legends among them.
Their bodies were considered to be in peak human condition, and some had even surpassed the limits of human physical capacity. All of them were indisputable masters of the gun.
Bang, bang, bang...!
Gunshots were heard all over the place, yet Lu Xuan had no intention of even trying to evade them. The sturdiness of his Shield of Vigor was such that no projectile weapon would have been able to break through it unless the likes of rockets and missiles were used.
One of them was still firing away when Lu Xuan disappeared right in front of him. He faltered for a split second, and then Lu Xuan reappeared right before him. Lu Xuan moved as if he was a walking bolt of lightning.
Pfftt!
With a bloody flash, the sword swept through the air, and that higher-up, who was a Baodan Grandmaster, had his head chopped off in a single swing, dying instantly.
Pfftt!
Pfftt!
Pfftt!
The blade in Lu Xuan’s hand, named Bloodthirst, hacked away like it was a blood dragon, with every swing snuffing the life out of a fighter of the Song Clan.
There was absolutely no one able to withstand even one swing of that sword.
They were all considered esteemed people of great power in the eyes of common folks, yet they were being put down like dogs without any problem right there and then.
Whether they were Baodan Grandmasters or Martial Arts Legends, they were all the same to Lu Xuan—he did not need more than a single swing to take them down.
The Shields of Vigor that Martial Arts Legends conjured around themselves were reduced to little more than walls of cardboard before Bloodthirst.
The sword was a very mystical weapon, as it was able to break through their Shields of Vigor and kill them easily.
It was only moments before only the Patriarch, Song Maoxun, and the eldest elder, Song Tongheng, were left standing.
Both of them sported ugly looks on their faces. They had been unable to do anything to stop Lu Xuan from killing all the others who’d stood beside them just moments ago.
“I’ll buy you some time. Hurry, the Song Clan can’t fall just yet. We can never face our ancestors with our heads held high otherwise!” Song Tongheng shouted.
While he’d had his fair share of arguments with Song Maoxun in the past, and there had been a serious power struggle between the two, the elder still made the decisions at such key moments.
One among them had to be sacrificed right there and then.
Song Maoxun did not say anything after hearing what Song Tongheng said. He turned around and went inside the house right away.
Song Tongheng then stood in Lu Xuan’s way.
“Lu Xuan, I’ll have you stay behind today no matter the cost. You shall die here!” Song Tongheng growled like a beast in a cage.
“Buy time? You?”
Lu Xuan charged and arrived in front of Song Tongheng like a bolt of lightning before he even finished his sentence.
Lu Xuan did little more than slap the man.
Boom!
The slap connected right away, breaking straight through Song Tongheng’s Shield of Vigor, making his efforts totally pointless.
Song Tongheng spat blood as his body was sent flying like a kite with a snapped thread before crashing hard onto the ground.
His chest caved in, and one could even see a palm print on his chest.
Song Tongheng’s face was ashen in an instant, as if he’d aged more than 20 years over in mere moments.
He struggled to get up. He never thought the difference between him and Lu Xuan could possibly be so great.
That one slap from Lu Xuan almost killed him.
He pulled a red pill from his pocket with a struggle and put it into his mouth.
Blood-colored energy returned to his body in just a few seconds. Song Tongheng, who had been unable to stand mere moments ago, leaped up once he was under the effects of that blood-colored energy.
