222 Night Conversation <2>
“Is it appropriate?” Marc was stunned. Thinking about the little cat that had just turned into a human and the reaction of Dylan and Lucy who were not surprised… he felt that he had missed something. But then again, he only joined this group midway because they met him in that city.
If not because of the incident back then, Marc was sure that he would not end up this way.
“Yes.”
“Fine, I’ll call him.”
The car stopped and Marc jumped to the back, calling Kyle to switch with him. Kyle nodded and carried Kate in his arm while silently used the space ability to form a barrier around her ear, preventing her from getting disturbed.
As Kyle entered the passenger seat and Marc was in his position at the back, Dylan started the car again. The military car was spacious, so it was very convenient for them to use it for a lot of people.
“Transformation gem?” Dylan asked.
“Oh, you’re curious about the gem. There’s a transformation gem behind the bushes and it seems that people or animals who had this type of ability is rare. It’s being left behind without anyone noticing.” Kyle shrugged.
Humans had also developed some tools that can be used to detect the energy coming from these gems. However, these tools still have limited range and the area where Kate found that gem was quite deep.
.....
There might not be anyone who could guess that there’s a piece of gem stranded in the middle of nowhere.
“Scattered pieces.” Dylan narrowed his eyes.
“Indeed.” Kyle let out a sneer. “No one ever bothered to clean up the scattering gems that was spread all over the world because of that meteor path. The giant mutated animals are developing rapidly thanks to their carelessness.”
If not for that, there was no way that these giant mutated animals would be able to advance in ranks so quickly. These gems should have been used by the humans to help them advance faster, but it was instead these giant mutated animals who benefited.
Clearly there was one year’s time before the start of the mutation but those high ranked people didn’t use the chance well.
Oh well, it was not his position to say anything.
Besides, some lucky people might have also picked up these scattered gems in the past. If they were lucky enough to find one on their journey before the giant mutated animals stayed on that place, it was not impossible for them to use these gems instead of the giant mutated animals.
Then again, that depend on luck.
“How about her?” Dylan veered his gaze towards Kate for a moment before turning back to the road.
Kyle looked at Kate, who was still sleeping peacefully in his arm. “I’ll stay with her.”
“Respect her choices.”
Hearing that, Kyle was silent.
He knew very well that he didn’t want to let Kate go anywhere but his side because of many reasons. In his mind, all he wanted was for her to stay by his side. He didn’t want what was his to be taken by others.
However, his way of doing things were not normal and could be considered as crazy by others. It was something that he himself had noticed clearly.
He’s not a good person.
He just wanted to dominate her and locked her away in his world.
But he knew that she would not be happy. If he kept her away inside his world and prevented her from seeing the world outside, it would be the same as keeping a bird with broken wing.
And he would be the one who broke her wing.
“I’ll try,” Kyle said slowly.
Dylan didn’t say anything else.
The two of them rarely communicate deeply because of the difference in their lives. In the first place, the one who connected the two of them were actually Jake. That brat was pulling them to play together.
Of course, Jake ended up being beaten up so badly by Kyle back then.
And Dylan also watched coldly.
But one way or another, they ended up playing together some games and even participated in some school projects. That was how they eventually become friends.
“When you finally open your heart, you should share it with me too.” Kyle chuckled.
Dylan frowned. “Future.”
Kyle didn’t pester Dylan. When it was time, they would understand it.
…
The next morning, Kate was filled with barrage of questions from the others who couldn’t just accept it that she was Little Kitty. But with her showing perfect knowledge about what Little Kitty knew in the past, the others had to accept it.
“You can just stay as a little cat without telling us.” Jake looked at Kate with complicated expression. “Why do you decide to tell us?”
“Because I want to stay as a human being.” Kate smiled bitterly. For more than three months, she had been staying as a cat most of the time. If not a cat, she would turn into a little kid, which made her wonder how old she actually was.
Being able to turn back into a human being was something that Kate herself had longed the most. She didn’t want to hide this form.
“Besides, aren’t we all a group?” Kate tilted her head.
Looking at her cute gesture, Lotte decided that from now on, Kate will be her sister!
“Of course! We’re all one group and I will protect you!” Lotte solemnly promised.
Beside her, Jake nearly tripped over the air. He looked at his girlfriend with aggrieved expression. Why did it feel that his girlfriend was being taken away by someone else and that person was actually also a girl?
He resentfully looked at Kyle and saw that Kyle’s face was also dark. Oh, it seemed that Kyle himself was jealous and was not willing to let Lotte be so close with Kate. He didn’t have to worry that much about it, then.
Jake smiled knowingly.
Well, there was no need for him to worry about this matter because he was sure that Kyle would not allow Lotte to stay with Kate all the time.
