Chapter 1359: The Monster of Calamity

Baganbu, the one who had an exceptional sense of smell, was hit so hard that he flew away. He looked like a shabby sack as he traced an arc through the air, landing only after a long time.

Sheyan tried his best to calm down his turbulent breathing. Oxygen was a luxury for him right now. After all, fire was burning all over his body. He slowly retracted his fist. On his fist, G-spot was rapidly shifting shape, transforming from a silver glove back into Evil Sword Apophis.

The ‘Ultimate Impact’ Sheyan just performed was a heavy burden even for his powerful self, so much so that he even had difficulty putting out the flame on his body right now. He could only try his best to maintain his balance to keep himself from falling down humiliatingly.

Right before Baganbu landed, a human figure suddenly appeared out of nowhere, as if it had solidified from the air itself. The figure was Ronnie. As he and Baganbu crossed each other, his Blood Shortblade continuously drew seven or eight blood-red lines in the air. Baganbu, who was already in a state of near death, died on the spot without making a sound. His body was cut into several tragic pieces, which were then kicked away!!

Although Old A was currently behind Sheyan, being in Sheyan’s blind spot and facing what was theoretically Sheyan’s most vulnerable part, he no longer had the ability to cause Sheyan any harm....

There was a grim wound on his face. The red flesh at the wound’s edges rolled outwards like a child’s gaping mouth. His right eye happened to be situated on the wound, so his eyeball was also cut open. The fluid inside mixed together with the blood and dripped down.

Aldaris was no longer in his Archon transformed state, because the plasma shield around his body had been completely depleted. Fortunately, Aldaris was a contestant, so he was not too fragile.

The sinister dagger deeply embedded in Old A’s back...was Aldaris’ signature weapon, ‘Mage Nemesis’! Old A’s MP had been drained by the evil weapon bit by bit like silk being spun from a cocoon. A mage without MP was no different from a tiger without its claws and fangs.

Meanwhile, Aldaris had taken on the role of a dual-wielding assassin, attacking Old A with lightning quick strikes. Old A was running left and right, obviously in desperation.

This was how Aldaris fought. Against enemies who were more physically-inclined, he would attack with magic, whereas against spellcasters, he would show off his powerful close-combat capability... Old A had obviously fallen victim to Aldaris’ fighting concept.

“Wait a minute! Wait a minute!!” Old A suddenly threw his magic staff away and gave up his resistance while crying out in despair. Interestingly, the one he faced when he shouted was Sheyan. He had apparently realised that the right to spare him lay in this man’s hands.

Aldaris was startled. His blade had already reached Old A’s neck. He could easily take away the last bits of Old A’s HP, but that would mean disregarding Sheyan, and obviously it was better to avoid that kind of thing if possible, so he stayed his hand.

Sheyan was coughing violently. Blood oozed out of his facial orifices. Though his expression when he looked at Old A was calm, his eyes were sharp and mean. After a short pause, he slowly raised a finger.

“Four achievement points.”

Then, he held out a second finger.

“A silver storyline or dark gold equipment.”

And after that, a third finger.

“Removing the problem once and for all. Convenient, clean, and devoid of any future troubles.”

Finally, Sheyan gave a summary.

“I’ll give you ten seconds to persuade us why we should miss out on all these things.”

The things Sheyan listed were obviously the reasons to kill Old A. Something else he did not point out was that Old A’s action could potentially sow discord between Sheyan and Aldaris, intentionally or otherwise, because the gains from killing Old A should have belonged to Aldaris, at least on the surface. That was why Sheyan had used words like “persuade us”.

“If you let me go, I’ll tell you a big secret,” said Old A in a hoarse voice.

Aldaris sneered.

“To hell with your secret. You have five seconds left.”

Old A gritted his teeth. He knew he could no longer hide the secret if he wanted to live.

“We killed a Dark Templar while we were waiting to ambush Ronnie. The Dark Templar was old and had an arm missing, but he was really difficult to handle. He almost ran away even with so many of us ganging up on him. If Artemis had not provoked him by insulting the honour of the Protoss, he would have successfully escaped.”

“After we killed the old Protoss, we looted two pieces of dark gold equipment and a communication crystal. The secret I told you about is contained in the communication crystal. It turns out that what Zerg are most interested in is a kind of high-energy crystal. With the high-energy crystal, the Zerg can easily evolve, among other things.”

“You can imagine how attractive the high-energy crystal is to the Zerg. It’s no wonder that even the Queen of Blades is personally lured here by it. In truth, this planet is actually a trap, a huge trap meant to kill! Those ancient Protoss and the current Protoss have joined hands to target the Queen of Blades, aiming to kill her here!”

Aldaris’ expression turned to one of shock, because he had heard the meaning behind Old A’s words.

“You mean this whole city is just a bait?”

“I don’t know the details, but I think such a large place must be a real ruin,” said Old A with a wry smile, “It’s impossible to fool a powerful monster like the Queen of Blades without making some sacrifices. According to our analysis, in order to lure the Queen of Blades deeper into the encirclement, the Protoss will keep enduring patiently. The moment she walks into the ambush, they will quickly launch a full attack to finish her off.”

“If that’s the case, then why did Artemis try to join in on the fight?” Sheyan suddenly asked.

Old A hesitated for a moment before he answered, “Her goal is the Protoss’ bait. Be it the high-energy crystal or the Keystone, they can make someone very powerful. To lure the Queen of Blades into the trap, the bait must be authentic.”

“The audacity of that woman.... Okay, I believe what you said, but I don’t think it’s enough in exchange for your life.”

As soon as Old A heard that there was room for negotiation, he quickly said, “I have three silver storyline equipment and 200,000 utility points with me. You guys can have all of them.”

As he said that, he took the initiative to request a trade.

“You’re quite decisive, aren’t you? You’re not afraid that we’ll go back on our words?” asked Sheyan with a smirk.

“I am afraid, but I believe the leader of a silver party wouldn’t be the kind of person who would do that,” replied Old A.

Sheyan was about to reply when he suddenly felt the ground shaking, followed by the sound of metal cracking, twisting and deforming, as if a magnitude 10 earthquake had occurred. After that, he saw the ceiling of the workshop not far away being smashed through, as well as the giant metallic monster that was the culprit.

The object was at least 30 meters tall. It was made of the same materials used in Protoss armours, but it did not have the signature plasma shield of the Protoss around its body. This would seemingly reduce its survivability, but it also means that it would not have a complex and high-precision internal device such as the plasma shield generator, so its armour and defence could be greatly strengthened. This was the same design concept used by the humans in their giant airships, and it was no inferior.

According to the Protoss’ original design, the Colossus was like a spider with horrible long legs that could easily cross mountains and rivers to pour its amazing firepower on the enemy with deadly grace.

But Pontin had modified the design by combining the design concept of the humans with the highly-advanced technology of the Colossus. The monstrosity built no longer looked like a giant spider with long legs, but like a giant metallic bear with short, thick limbs!!

With this design, the Colossus may have deficiencies in movement speed, but the marked improvement in its survivability and combat power more than made up for it.

The most obvious improvement was in its armaments. An ordinary Colossus could only equip two thermal laser cannons, one on each side of its body.

But this metallic monster could equip at least four of them, each with its own complex focusing and aiming system to cause maximum destruction! The Colossus’ robust motive powering device could easily support the weight of five layers of armour, so it had nearly twice the survivability of an ordinary Colossus! The trade-off was only a 35% reduction in maximum speed and a 20% decrease in the maximum height it could cross.

Under Pontin’s control, a giant metal palm as wide as a three-storey building was tall smashed down on a metallic street with a terrifying whir, giving rise to the horrible sounds of metal bending and snapping. A saber-toothed tiger that had been summoned by Pacino to cover his retreat was flattened into a fleshy pulp without so much as a whine.

After that, the metallic mobile fortress that was given the name of the Monster of Calamity slowly climbed out of the production factory. As it crawled forward, it greedily tore at the surrounding metal walls with its claws, then stuffed the broken metallic pieces into its giant mouth and chewed on them noisily like they were candy.
