"What happened?" Xin Yichen asked as Long Jie slumped on the sofa beside him in defeat.

"I hurt her again," he said in a small voice and rubbed his hands over his face in exasperation.

Just what the hell was he thinking when he pushed her emotionally all of a sudden?

"I'm sorry, Bà," Long Jie apologized sincerely.

Xin Yichen sighed. He knew Long Jie was sincerely sorry and wouldn't do anything to hurt Zhenyi intentionally. He had been seeing how Long Jie had been taking care of her without any complaint. Even on the hardest days, he had been by her side and refused to leave her alone at all. Though it infuriated Zhenyi, yet he didn't move.

"It's not your fault, son. She has been over the edge for a while now. She either needs to fall or get a grip over herself," said Xin Yichen as he looked out of the window blankly.

"I would rather have her fall this time, Bà, because I know I will be there to catch her with my arms open," Long Jie said in a resolution.

She certainly needed to speak or else she wouldn't be able to get rid of the weight that had been leading to her being sinking in the endless abyss.

It looked like she was grieving, but what for?

It was like a black hole sucking her entire existence.

She needed to fight back but she was accepting defeat even without entering the battlefield.

"I trust you, son. I just need my daughter back. That shell of a woman ain't my daughter. My Zhenyi has that ever-burning fire inside her, the shell of a woman doesn't even have a flicker of it in her. She is a pushover, but my daughter would fight back against whoever dares to challenge her," said Xin Yichen with a smile. He paused and looked at Long Jie in despair. " I don't know how to get my daughter back but I trust that she will be back to us soon. I know my daughter, she will never leave us alone."

Long Jie nodded. "She will be back, Bà."

"Go to her and talk to her. She will listen to you."

Long Jie looked at him and asked, "Do you think so?"

"I know so," said Xin Yichen with a smile.

Long Jie left the living room but he didn't go back to their room but to the kitchen instead. He seemed to have learned to cook few dishes in these two months and of course, Zhenyi didn't know yet. He had been planning to surprise her one day.

He entered the kitchen and prepared a tea that he learned a few days ago from his father-in-law. Xin Yichen was more than happy to teach him these things. Heck, he was even planning on giving music lessons to him but they never had time for that.

Since the time Ryuu had commented on Xin Yichen's hobby of music, he had grown more stubborn, always attempting to infuriate Ryuu with his obsession with music.

Long Jie prepared the tea and it took him few minutes. The aroma indicated that it certainly tasted as good as it smelled.

He opened the bedroom door with one hand and entered the room. He looked around to find Zhenyi and finally he found her staring out of the window in a daze. She had been in a daze for so many days and he was still waiting for her to come out of it but she had yet to come out of her ever-long daze.

"Zhenyi," said Long Jie with a smile on his beautiful face.

She turned around only to find Long Jie staring at her with a beautiful smile and a tray in his hand.

"Tea?" Zhenyi said in surprise. Wasn't he who had banned her caffeine size? Never mind, she liked it so much that it was always welcomed.

"Yup!" Long Jie moved ahead and put the tray in front of her.

"Drink it while it's still hot. It's good for your health," said Long Jie as he occupied a seat next to her.

He saw Zhenyi wrinkling her nose as she heard the word 'healthy' and quickly said," It's not medicinal tea."

"Oh," Zhenyi said and took a sip to check it herself.

"It's good." Zhenyi nodded in approval.

"I'm sorry," Long Jie whispered.

Zhenyi shook her head at him. "You have nothing to be sorry for, trust me. Jie, never ask for forgiveness when you have done nothing wrong. I know that I can be a handful sometimes but thank you for not giving up on me." Her voice cracked up but she smiled at him while her eyes started to burn. " I haven't been myself lately and I really know it. Jie, I don't need to fake being normal with you when I am clearly not and you can certainly see it. I know you have been trying to behave as if you don't notice it too but you know your eyes betray you."

Long Jie smiled as he patted her head gently. " It's good that you know otherwise I will make a liar out of myself again."

"Aren't we all liars? Sometimes, we are compelled to lie and sometimes we choose to," Zhenyi retorted.

"And sometimes we make it seem like we have no choice but we clearly do. We always do." Long Jie added and it halted Zhenyi's movement.

"Take your time, wife. I have all the time in the world for you but please don't make me wait for you too long because I can't seem to see you in pain. Seeing you hurting all by yourself pierce my heart," Long Jie said looking into her eyes.

"Heart of steel?" Zhenyi tried to joke.

"Absolutely, the heart of steel," Long Jie said and put her hand on the left of his chest where the heart was located. "See it comes alive when you touch me."
