"Damn it! Having a big body has its downsides!"
Sieg, who was fighting a demon, was leaping from one barrier to another.
"Come on, come on! Is that all you got?!"
His opponent was a demon named Kimaris, wielding a large spear. The demon's host was a male soldier. Kimaris' fighting style was straightforward, focusing on charging attacks with his spear.
"Follow me if you can!"
Sieg dodged the charging attack. Normally, he would counter-attack at this point, but two other spears attacked him to cover Kimaris' opening. Sieg deflected them and moved to another barrier. By then, Kimaris was already ready for another charge.
"Again?!"
Sieg dodged while complaining. Kimaris' ability was "Remote Control," manipulating two other spears that floated around him. They attacked whenever Sieg tried to exploit Kimaris' openings. It was a simple but effective strategy. Sieg had been on the defensive the whole time.
"Can't lay a finger on me, huh?"
"Good grief…"Kimaris taunted, and Sieg sighed. His larger body made him an easier target, something he hadn't anticipated.
"What's the matter? What's the matter?!"
"Damn it!"
Sieg leapt high into the air, deflecting the two spears that came at him. He landed on another barrier and charged at Kimaris, who was also ready to charge. Both thrust their spears, aiming to skewer each other. Sieg slightly deflected Kimaris' spear, dodging it, while his own spear sliced through Kimaris' throat. Normally, that would be the end.
"You're pretty tenacious!"
"Is that all?!"
Kimaris' throat was indeed sliced, but he was a demon; he wouldn't die from that. Sieg had the better technique, but it wasn't enough to kill.
Just then, Fin, who had been fighting another demon in the air, managed to defeat it with a massive lightning strike. He descended, intending to join Sieg.
"Now it's two against one…"
"No, you go. I'll handle this."
"But…"
"Protect the Saintess who went ahead. She'll be targeted on the battlefield."
"…"
"Go. I'll handle this."
Fin nodded and flew off. Kimaris looked surprised.
"You think you can beat me alone?"
"I'm not fighting with that in mind."
Sieg rummaged through his pocket and began speaking.
"Ever heard of the Four Sacred Treasures? They're weapons made from meteorites. You demons fear the Holy Sword, one of them. The Saintess wields the Holy Staff, another. The remaining two were long lost. They're documented, though."
Sieg continued, "The Holy Sword was made from the meteorite, and the remaining three were made from the leftover material. So, the Holy Sword is overwhelmingly powerful. But the others are still potent. The Holy Staff enhances others, the Holy Ring heals oneself. What do you think the remaining Holy Talisman does?"
Sieg pulled out a talisman from his pocket and stuck it to himself. Power surged through him.
"This is the Holy Talisman Ceres. Its effect is self-enhancement."
In an instant, Sieg closed the distance to Kimaris. Kimaris tried to retreat, but Sieg was too fast. Kimaris' two spears were easily deflected, and Sieg continued his assault. Kimaris tried to counter by manipulating nearby trees, but Sieg deflected them all. Kimaris charged at Sieg, but his technique was inferior. Sieg easily dodged.
"I didn't want to use this, but you made me. Consider this a thank-you."
Sieg unleashed a flurry of thrusts, each one tearing through Kimaris. Eventually, Kimaris was reduced to mere flesh pieces. Sieg didn't stop attacking until Kimaris was completely eradicated.
"Lord Sieg!"
Sieg landed on the ground, where the Sokal Empire Mage Corps were waiting.
"Sorry for the trouble."
"Lord Sieg…?"
As Sieg answered, he began to glow. When the glow faded, he had shrunk considerably.
"Damn it! So this is what happens!"
Sieg, now turned back into a bear cub, yelled. The Holy Talisman Ceres had been in Mizuho. It was a national secret, and Sieg had it because Orihime had entrusted it to him. He had been warned that using it would turn him back into a cub.
"What's going on?"
"It's complicated… Don't touch me… Ah, I had just returned to my original form…"
Sieg beckoned one of the mages and climbed onto his shoulder.
"Let's go! To the royal capital!"
Sieg didn't know how useful he'd be as a cub, but he was determined to head to the royal capital.
