Chapter 657: Nine Nether

Xi looked over with her large eyes and saw this fellow showing off to no end. She suspected whether she had run into a chatterbox and a conman at that. He was simply too unreliable.
In the end, she came to a conclusion. “I’m guessing you have a deep enmity with the Xilin clan, the Deity Race, and the Heavenly Knights. They must’ve snatched your husband and killed your son. That’s why you’re irreconcilable with them.”
Chu Feng really wanted to beat her up. What kind of words were those? He simply couldn’t bear such hostility—and what was with the husband snatching?
Very soon, his expression turned dark. “I’ll say it one more time, I’m a man!”
Xi shook her arms tyrannically and said, “That makes no difference. Even if you’re a male ghost, I still consider you my bestie. You’re the first ghost friend I made after coming to the netherworld!”
Chu Feng’s expression was hostile. He felt that he needed to teach this little girl more about how to be “a ghost”. He once again poured in all kinds of “correct ideas” to increase her “spiritual level.”
The space ship transitioned from a certain sea of stars to the next star system. However, all the regions along the way were dark since they were far from the radiant stars and closer to the black holes and spatial abysses.
That was because the spaceship couldn’t come into the light. Its yang energy would make it a lantern in the dark night. They would be surrounded and hunted down once the various races discovered them.
Right now, the price of a Yang-Realm entity had risen to a hundred resource planets. Even so, there hasn’t been a successful transaction. They were simply too rare.
Chu Feng received a lot of valuable information from the special forum provided by Yellow Ox. The elders of all the powers were crazily searching for this entity in order to learn the secrets of the world.
Some cosmic tyrants had established themselves at the apex for many years and had long since lost their life pursuits. Presently, their only wish was to be reincarnated into the Yang-Realm!
Against such a backdrop, the undercurrents throughout the universe were surging. The experts of all races were mobilized to search through the universe and find that alien entity.
In the cold universe, the dark space was deathly silent and covered in nether mist. Even Chu Feng himself began to suspect that this place was like the netherworld.
There was no sun here—darkness and silence were the eternal themes of this place.
So much so that they saw some areas along the way with corpses strewn across them. Those were remains left behind from billions of years ago. They were floating aimlessly just like cosmic dust.
Their apparel was completely different from those of the day. Their appearance and build should belong to the human race, but they were also quite different from the people of today.
“It’s so cold, I’m about to freeze to death. The yin-energy here is too cold. If this goes on, I’ll surely run out of yang-energy and turn into a yin-person. I’ll become a ghost after death.”
Xi was tightly wrapped in her armor and space suit, much like a dumpling. However, she was still feeling cold.
This so-called yang-energy could restrict the creatures of this universe, but conversely, this yin-energy was also able to subdue her. Everything was mutual.
“I had heard legends when I was young about some historical overlords who could charge into the netherworld. Even the demons could do nothing to them and had to retreat. Back then, I looked up to them and thought about heading into the yin-realm to leave behind a legend. But now, the reality seems completely different. The yin-realm is so scary... sob. sob... I want to go home. I want to go back to the yang-realm. It’s so cold.”
Chu Feng was speechless after seeing her in such pain. He gradually realized her temperament and found that she wasn’t a naive rookie at all. She was somewhat two-faced and likely trying to stir up some kind of trouble.
“Now, what do you want?” Chu Feng asked.
The young girl blinked her large eyes. “Are there any famous treasures in the netherworld capable of release raging flames? I want to look for it and replenish my yang-energy. Otherwise, I might just die.”
Chu Feng curled his lips and said, “If you want to become a space pirate, just say it straight! Why are you taking such a roundabout route? Even my conscience has been damaged.”
“Nonsense!” She looked quite embarrassed.
But Chu Feng couldn’t promise her because it conflicted with her origin intentions. They were heading to an area that produced the nine nether stone. He wanted to mine and use them to hide the yang energy of the spaceship, lest they become the target of every race while roaming the starry skies.
“But I’m really cold. I can’t stand it anymore,” the young girl pleaded in a pitiful manner.
“Easy, the sun!” Chu Feng said with a smile.”
“Sun?! Are you swearing at me?!” Xi glared at him with her big round eyes.
“When did I swear at you?” Chu Feng was baffled. He then came to realize what had just happened. “Why is your brain full of unhealthy things! What are you thinking all day? I was referring to entering the sun to replenish your yang-energy!”
Embarrassed and resentful, the young girl no longer paid him any attention.
In the end, the spaceship flew toward a certain star. Chu Feng got off from a certain distance away and waited in the starry skies, watching as she drove the ship into the fiery ball.
As expected of a super treasure, the spaceship was indeed extraordinary—it was completely fine after staying in the sun for an extended period of time.
Half a day later, the girl returned with the ship. Her complexion was rosy now, but she was still tightly wrapped in the armor and spacesuit, unwilling to reveal herself.
She complained, “What sun?! Despite the rolling heat, there’s a wisp of cold aura within. This energy specific to the netherworld is truly intolerable.”
Chu Feng was dumbfounded and only spoke after a long while. “F*ck, you really make me want to swear. Don’t tell me even the sun can’t satisfy you? Even powerful cultivators can’t stay too long in there. Just how much yang energy do you need?”
Afterward, he was startled. “Wait a minute, which of us is the demon here? Isn’t it said that ghosts need to absorb yang energy to replenish their yin weakness? How come it’s reversed now?”
“Bah! So unpleasant to hear. I’m a living person through and through. It’s your netherworld that’s draining my vitality!”
At last, they bickered all the way until they reached their destination— the Dragon Sparrow Galaxy.
The reason behind the galaxy’s name was because this star field was ruled by the two races. The ancestral star of the Yin Sparrow’s race was here and so was the champosaur’s ancestral ground. Moreover, they weren’t very far apart.
Within this starry sky, the two races were the ruling overlords and hence the name of the galaxy.
This star field was on Chu Feng’s path. Relatively speaking, they weren’t too far away—at the very least, they were much closer than the other famed star systems.
There was a peculiar forbidden land in Dragon-Sparrow Galaxy. This famous place was called the Nine Nether because the yin-chill here cut to the bone as though it were the deepest place in hell. It was filled with raging Yin winds all year round.
Not to mention the others, even people from this cosmos couldn’t stand it. They considered it a netherworld realm.
This piece of forbidden land was where the nine nether stone was produced. It was even several times more potent than the so-called unmeltable black ice, an natural cold material.
Chu Feng’s group naturally didn’t dare enter the depths of the Nine-Nether Forbidden Land. That was because there were heaven-illuminator level characters who had died there. It was no place for charging in.
He only wanted to pick up some nine-nether stones from the periphery, use his domain methods to carve runes upon it, and embed them onto the spaceship. This would serve to hide the rolling yang energy therein and make it somewhat more normal.
This would prevent it from being exposed and captured when they went to kill the Deity Race, the Xilin Clan, and the others.
“Be careful about the Yin Sparrow Race after landing,” Chu Feng reminded. They had already arrived near their target and found a black planet. They could feel the bone-deep chill even from a long distance away.
The Yin Sparrows liked cold places like this the most. Every year, experts from that race would come here to undergo isolated cultivation, using the nether chill to baptize their bodies and refine their spirit.
The Yin Sparrow race had two paths. One of them was to immerse themselves in nether energy while the other was to transform into an extreme yin physique. The third one was to remove the cold in their bodies and accumulate extreme yang essence in an attempt to evolve toward the vermilion bird bloodline.
For instance, Yin Jiuque was taking this path.
This Nine-Yin Planet was extremely important to the Yin Sparrow Race. Their experts above the golden arhat level would have to come here for a baptism in the end.
Legend had it that one of the Yin Sparrow Race’s ancestors was extremely powerful back in the year and was capable of entering the depths of this planet. Unfortunately, he never reached in the end. He entered once again near the end of his life and returned no more.
As such, this place became more mysterious and even heaven-illuminators were apprehensive of it. Many ancestors of every race who dared enter the place had lost their lives.
The entire planet was black. After closing in, one could feel the terrifying cold even while in outer space.
In the past, someone had lost his temper and used a super weapon to bombard this planet from afar. The planet wasn’t destroyed. Instead, it surged with nine nether energy and devoured the assailant. That person vanished without a trace.
This was information Chu Feng had found from the photon computer. He told Xi everything along the way so that she could be mentally prepared, but she was fairly curious.
When they really arrived, though, the girl began crying unbearably.
“It’s too cold, I can’t take it anymore.” Even Chu Feng was complaining. He moved toward the girl and circulated his breathing technique in an attempt to suck her yang energy.
Xi cried out, “What the hell are you doing? Trying to draw my yang energy to supplement your yin physique, is it? You’re a classical ghost, a perverted ghost!”
Chu Feng was speechless. What kind of words were those?
He quickly refuted, “I’m a man, so I’m just collecting yin energy, okay? Stop being such a rascal!”
“Go to hell!” Xi threw a hook at him without looking.
Chu Feng shifted the topic of conversation. “Are you sure your ship is ridiculously powerful and can kill a saint, right?”
The girl shouted, “What ridiculous? It’s just strong. It was personally refined by my grandpa, so killing a ghost saint is no problem at all.”
Chu Feng’s eyes were flowing with divine light. “That’s fine. I think we’ll be encountering a super yin sparrow soon. Blast him into charred drags so that even his grandma won’t recognize him. Additionally, we should go over to the Yin Sparrow ancestral star and help them check their treasury. I have a feeling that they haven’t maintained it for a long time. We need to help them care for it.”
“Heehee, I like this. I love helping people the most!” Xi raised her hands in a thumbs up. The two totally hit it off together.
Afterward, she blinked her large eyes as she glanced at the dark land. “Actually, I want to enter the depths of the Nine Nether Forbidden Land. There might be some extreme chaos treasures there. If we can bring them back to the yang-realm, that kind of yin energy would be enough to kill a powerful enemy.”
“Be obedient. Even heaven-illuminator creatures have fallen in there. Don’t go looking for trouble.” Chu Feng warned her.
Afterward, they landed on a dark patch of land. They had arrived in the legendary Nine Nether Forbidden Area.
At this very moment, in the depths of the distant starry skies, on the moon of the Xilin planet. The Nine Yin Sparrow and Yuwen Chengkong were saying their goodbyes and stepping onto their return path.
“Dao friend, I really need someone powerful like you to help me. I traded a piece of mother-of-all-gold to you for this head. Won’t you consider being my dao protector for once?
Before leaving, the Nine Yin Sparrow brought this matter up again. He hoped the number nine throughout history could protect him during his recovery.
Wei Heng was young, handsome, and his face was full of smiles. “I won’t hide it from you. I’m about to attack the heaven-illuminator realm so I cannot be distracted. But my boy should be enough to take on this duty. Although he’s only a quasi-saint, he has once killed a true saint before! Dao friend, if you undergo isolation here, I can offer my help. You can consider it.”
The Nine-Yin Sparrow shook his head. “This time, I don’t plan to go on my old path anymore. I won’t try to turn into a vermilion bird. Instead, I’ll head to the Nine Nether Planet and attempt to become an extreme yin divine sparrow.”
Wei Heng’s eyes were profound and his expression was peculiar. “Nine Nether Forbidden Zone, that’s a terrifying but interesting place. The three powerhouses of earth once explored that place seriously. I think there’s some kind of extraordinary item in there. Unfortunately, the race-exterminating war broke out at that point and their planes were ruined. How about this, you two go first and contact me via photo computer if anything happens. I’ll rush over to your help once I get the message. After all, our two star systems are connected via a transmission domain. If worse comes to worst, I’ll ask the wormhole express to open up a super wormhole and descend immediately!”
Since the other party had spoken thus, Nine Yin sparrow could no longer force the issue. What he really wanted wasn’t a protector because Yuwen Chengkong was enough.
His other thought was to have Wei Heng help him go further on the dao path. After all, the latter was a peerless saint who was about to reach the heaven-illuminator realm.
A character like Wei Heng accompanying him on his recovery path would help him form a sturdy saint foundation. It would surely be better than working together with any other person!
After all, experts of the entire cosmos believed that he, Yaoyao, and the Nine Orifice Tribulation Physique were far superior to all the other geniuses of the era. Theirs was considered a golden generation!
Wei Heng was ranked number nine throughout the starry skies and thus should be more powerful than the geniuses of each era.
Wei Geng clearly knew the Nine Yin Sparrow’s thoughts. “Oh, don’t worry. My child has received all my teachings and knows quite a bit. When the time comes, he can give you some pointers all the same. Perhaps you might become a saint very soon and not just stop at the quasi-saint realm.”
Very soon, Wei Heng’s number eight son, Wei Tiansheng arrived. He was Wei Heng’s youngest son and virtually a small clone of him—handsome, charming, elegant, and outstanding.
In just a moment, the Nine Yin Sparrow, Yuwen Chengkong and the others were shocked. They could clearly sense how extraordinary this kid was. If not for Wei Heng personally saying that the kid was a quasi-saint, they might’ve suspected that he was a saint!
Their sharp senses told them that this Wei Tiansheng was going to become a saint very soon. He should be withholding his cultivation on purpose and accumulating in secret. His ambitions were grand!
In the end, they set out with the jar in which was sealed Uncle Ming’s head and headed toward the Nine Nether Forbidden Zone!
