The Primordial Record

Chapter 1355: Rowan... Unleashed (1)

The hum of the spear was like a clarion call of war, shocking all existence inside of this space into a state of deep alert, but Rowan’s eyes were closed, and the full memories of the Reflection were pouring down into him like an endless tide.

Due to the aberrant nature of the mission that had taken him far into the past, and the heavy corruption of his essence, Rowan’s connection with this Reflection was the least among all the three Reflections that he had created, but this Reflection—no Berrion, for he had earned his name many times over—had given the greatest contribution of the three.

Although there was no contest among his Reflections, and they were all given specific goals, Rowan had never intended for Berrion to go out of his way and perform his duty to such an extent, not just retrieve a Primordial Weapon, but also drastically weaken Thenos and change the fate of Doom Star so dramatically that it affected the course of the entire war from the beginning, pushing the hands of Fate to favor Rowan’s cause. In the end, tortured under the relentless tide of corruption from holding on to the vast darkness spewed from the corpse of Thenos, Berrion was able to find him and gave him the spear in a manner that the World Stele would not find suspicious. It was amazing knowing the amount of damage that his psyche had suffered and that he still had the mindfulness to finish his mission.

’Time and time again, my children suffer… for my glory. Even a heart of stone would bleed.’

His powerful consciousness processed everything that had happened, knowing in full detail the hidden story that the Reflection sought to hide from him, and Rowan’s soul throbbed with pain and fury, for those who suffered for his ambition, knowing that this was just the start, more would suffer in the future for him. This was the price of his ambition, and it would dishonor all those who sacrificed for him, if he could not carry all the weight of their pain, and hold their deaths in his heart, knowing it was all for him.

He would prove to all in existence that he was the one worthy of wearing the crown.

Reality around Rowan for countless miles shivered and then shattered, Bleeding Edge began calling all the warriors from times past to come and battle against its wielder for the last time, the weapon after so many years had become impatient, and it thirsted for battle.

It drew upon the specters of the past and they came, hungry and desperate for battle, and Bleeding Edge wanted to scream in glee. It had been so long, it had awaited its glorious war, let blood flow like a…

The hand that held Bleeding Edge burned with golden fire and tightened, whatever power was inside this grip was so great that the Primordial Spear began to bend, and several connecting nodes across the Primordial Spear that were meant to last for eternity began to cry out in pain as they were taken to the limits of their durability and if this force did not cease, that limit would be exceeded and they would be destroyed.

The straight spear that could theoretically withstand the boundaries of all force in existence was being bent in a C shape, and although part of the reason why this was possible was that none of the enchantments and runes inscribed on the spear had been activated, it was still ridiculous that there could be a force strong enough to bend a Primordial Spear to the edge of breaking it.

It did not understand that its wielder was something that reality had never seen before and so even the Primordials that created it could not create a defense that could stand against this power, and if Rowan was holding back in the past, this time, he had thrown away all of his limitations.

"Restrain yourself," Rowan growled, "Your time shall come when you will be whole again, but for now, obey me, or I shall break you. The sacrifice of the one that bore you has granted you the grace to be wielded by my hand, do not take this opportunity for granted. Now be silent, there is someone I want to fucking kill."

Bleeding Edge, this Primordial Weapon forged in the dawn of the Primordial Era, went quiet, its summons dissipated and although it did not unlock its core functions to Rowan, it withheld the increased weight it had imposed on Berrion, however, Rowan frowned,

"Return your weight and make it as heavy as you can, otherwise you are too light, and you could break when I smash you against their bones."

Bleeding Edge, "..."

Its weight was meant to be a punishment for those that seek to wield it without satisfying all the conditions laid down by the Primordial Demon, and it did not expect that Rowan found it to be too light and was mindful of its destruction, but when it thought about the unreasonable power that had nearly snapped it in two, it obeyed and made itself as heavy as ten thousand universes.

Rowan’s hand dipped a bit and he smiled, this weight was nice, and it would fit the method Berrion used in battle when adjusted to his attributes. As much as he would like to possess this weapon, he did not need it, and summoning all these specters of the past would just distract him and give Thenos, this powerful Chimaera, all the powers, Wills, and bloodlines of these forgotten warriors.

Rowan was not in the habit of being charitable to his enemies.

He took a step forward and he summoned all of his Cherubims, Convergence, Remorse, Sundown, Legacy, Prophecy, Judgement, Justifier, and Extinction. They flew toward his back and merging as one, they became his wings.

Rowan unfurled them, vast wings of metal and black fire, and their powers fanned the flames of death into his weapons, and the next step he took, the earth beneath his feet simply vanished, for the power in his body had vaporized the body of the World Stele around him.

"Rowan, we do not need to be enemies… I can work with you."

Rowan blocked his mind from listening to the World Stele, he knew that it was trying to weaken his momentum, the World Stele would never work with him, because the Singularity feared him.

Of the three enemies here, the weakest and yet the most dangerous was Thenos, and if he gave this titan the time to figure out the full breadth of its powers, killing him would be nearly impossible. The Singularity was already manipulating space and time and Thenos had vanished, being taken far from here and into the past.

It did not matter, he must be the first to die.

His wings shivered and Rowan was before Thenos, crossing through space and time with the powers of his Cherubims, and he thrust Bleeding Edge forward, three times.

The first thrust of the spear shattered the spatial and temporal barriers imposed by the World Stele around him, the second thrust broke the passive field of defense and sealing that the World Stele was capable of creating, and the third pierced through the memory, fate, and destiny shielding Thenos from death, leaving him open to Rowan’s blade and his Destroyer was swung down in a swift arc that tore reality apart for countless light years.

The World Stele was desperate, throwing everything in the path of Rowan’s destroyer to block the blade from descending, worlds, stars, black holes, even dimensions, like time, space, and the memories of countless higher dimensional immortals…

His blade cut through them all. Worlds were reduced to nothingness, dimensions were sliced in two, and time, space, memory, fate, destiny, his blade sliced them apart.

However, this barrier had given the World Stele the breathing space to push Thenos further in the past and into a separate space, but Rowan’s offense was like an endless wave, as soon as the blade of the Destroyer had sliced down, Bleeding Edge took its place, piercing through the veils of space-time and sliding into flesh.

Thenos shrieked in pain, hundreds of eyes bulged out from his deformed skull that was nothing but a cancerous tumor. The spear had pierced through his chest and Rowan pulled his hand back to bring the wailing infant closer to him.
