“You two might want to wait here. They are coming,” Klaus said to War God Henry and General Nazz. They nodded and stopped while Klaus moved forward, halting only when he was meters away from them.
From a distance, he could see a juggernaut speeding toward him, lightning crackling across its body. The trees and rocks are being broken and shattered as the beast moves toward him.
He stood his ground as the beast closed in.
ROAR!
It came to a stop about a hundred meters from Klaus and let out a thunderous roar. Klaus didn’t move. He simply stood there, making it clear he had no intention of leaving.
Perhaps because the monster had now evolved into a beast, it understood Klaus’s arrogance.
In response to his clear arrogance and annoyance, the ground beneath Klaus gave way, causing him to fall.
Suddenly, the earth solidified again, attempting to trap him up to his neck. However, Klaus vanished and reappeared a few meters away from the beast.
It was a quick attack, but to Klaus, this was nothing.
He had now mastered the Astra Moving Step technique to the 3rd stage—the Void Step. This was part of the reason he was able to open the void.
However, using the void and opening it to use are two different things. For this small and weak attack, he didn’t need to exert much effort, as the beast wasn’t particularly fast to begin with.
So, using the void, he moved and appeared away from the attack.
The beast, having missed its chance to attack, charged at Klaus again. This time, it wanted to crash him to a pulp, but Klaus stood his ground, much to the shock of War God Henry and General Nazz.
Klaus remained motionless as the Brute Elephant barreled toward him.
BOOM!
The diamond-scale brute Elephant thrust its tusks at Klaus, aiming to impale him. However, before that could happen, Klaus blocked the attack with just one hand.
The speed and force behind the charge created a powerful shockwave that rippled out several meters. It was a powerful head-on collision, but he stood there unmoving.
Klaus smirked and then pushed the brute, sending it flying backward.
‘Looks like my physical strength has reached a new stage. Brutes won’t be able to do anything to me if I fight using my bare fists.’
The Brute Elephant was a perfect example. It was thrown aside like a ragdoll.
“Tsk,” Klaus smirked as he stepped back, effortlessly evading a lightning attack that came from his side.
He turned to see where the attack came from, only to meet the gaze of one of the ugliest-looking beasts he had ever encountered.
“You’re ugly, bro,” Klaus couldn’t help but remark.
The beast clearly didn’t take kindly to such a negative remark about its appearance.
However, with a mouth that seemed to open wider than it should, revealing three rows of small, razor-sharp teeth, it wasn’t exactly sending the right message about its “handsomeness.”
It moved, fading in and out of existence, and suddenly appeared before Klaus, its massive jaws widening to clamp down on his thigh.
However, Klaus swung his leg with precision, and like striking a ball, the ugly Lightning Canine was sent flying. By the time it hit the ground, Klaus was already there to greet it.
He landed another powerful kick, and this time, the canine felt the pain as a few bones broke from the attack.
War God Henry and General Nazz were dumbfounded by what Klaus was doing. They could see what was happening, but they couldn’t comprehend how he was doing it.
It was as if he was teleporting between attacks.
But even if he were moving at such an incredible speed that it appeared like teleportation, how was he able to block a head-on collision from the towering Brute Elephant, which stood many feet above him?
They simply couldn’t find the words to describe it.
Klaus, however, didn’t have time to explain. He was focused on testing his skills, and so far, the beasts were proving to be far too weak for what he had planned.
He decided to finish them off before their boss arrived. He wanted to see what such chaotic beasts were truly capable of.
“You all can die now,” Klaus said coldly as he raised his hand.
“Annihilation Ice.” The temperature plummeted as a dark mist of ice materialized in the air. From the mist, two five-meter-long, razor-sharp dark spears of ice emerged.
“Elemental Infusion: Golden Annihilation Lightning.” He snapped his fingers, and the two dark ice spears were instantly bathed in crackling golden lightning.
“This is overkill,” Klaus, who had calculated the outcome of the battle even before it started, knew there was no escaping the spears.
He was using a very powerful energy source, so naturally, all his attacks were much more potent. He looked at the two beasts now speeding toward him and snapped his fingers.
The spear shot at the two, and before they could even realize how it happened, they were pierced through and through, ending them in the quickest and most efficient way possible.
They died, and Klaus, who was awakening the aura of death, felt their deaths, which gave him a strand of clarity into how to cultivate the power of death.
It wasn’t something new, considering everyone who wants to become a god must know death. In fact, death is a cultivation stage one must go through if one wants to keep progressing.
However, what made him special was the fact that he would not only know death, he would become death itself, for that is the power he had inherited during the trial.
He went through the 25 cycles of death, marking him as the heir of death. He was the first person in history to go through all 25 cycles of death and inherit the mark of death.
Such a power, now hidden within him, was more than enough to make him turn immortal before even attaining immortality.
With the power of death, he wouldn’t be afraid of dying.
If he were to realize this power, he must first die a couple of times, and to do that, he must know what death feels and looks like.
But to achieve that, he must first kill a lot of people since that is the easiest and fastest way to know what death looks like and feels like.
Killing the two beasts was a wake-up call. He could tell that much, so he planned to kill more. Perhaps one of these days would be when he would awaken it.
When that happens, he can easily die and resurrect in his own right, for the heir of death has control over death, so death doesn’t affect him.
Klaus waved his hand, and the bodies of the two beasts floated toward the war god and General Nazz, who nearly jumped back in fright.
“You can have these two. Absorbing their cores will come in handy. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I will be going after their leader. Just wait for me here.”
The two nodded like children, watching Klaus disappear deeper into the mountains.
