Lex exited the golden jelly, finally in control of his body and aura once more. Although the jelly was not actually sticky, he still felt an overwhelming urge to take a bath once he exited it. Fortunately, such a thing was quite easily arranged.
While Lex took a quick break from his busy schedule to shower, he couldn’t help but think about his time at the resort.
Back on Earth, if he heard the term resort, he would associate it with a vacation filled with spa activities of all sorts. In a way, the Seraphim Resort lived up to that expectation since basically all he had done here was receive various treatments that helped him consolidate his cultivation, or somehow grow stronger. Oh, he also detoxed from Dao aura exposure, so very much just like a cultivator spa.
Yet he could not help but feel that he probably did not get to experience a traditional visit to a resort – at least for an immortal. The resort was more than just its services, of which it had many. In fact, due to Lex’s time constraints, he hadn’t been able to use most of the services which took weeks if not months to complete. After all, to an immortal, a couple of weeks was barely any time at all.
He could not help but recall the strange sights he saw when he first entered the resort, and all that was left unexplored. Since he was limited to the area reserved for those with the premium package, he never saw those sights again.
He not only wondered what they were like, but also wondered what the area reserved for Dao beings was like. If the opportunity to explore it was presented to him he would never take it – the Dao was not for him to explore just yet. Even so, he couldn’t help but wonder.
The time for wondering was coming to an end, however. He would soon return to the Inn, and then have to add 3 new features to the Inn that he saw at the resort.
Adding Heavens guidance would have been a good idea, but for that Lex would need to create a Heaven first. There was no way Lex could manage that so soon. He would need to add some more common features of the resort to the Inn, but that would result in a more common ranking for him. It truly was a conundrum.
While Lex was lost in his thoughts, a certain part of his consciousness swept through the Inn, as it usually did. But this time, now that Lex was no longer focused on his own training, he could no longer ignore an oddity he had noticed long ago.
“Hey Mary, what is Z up to? Why does he look so… strained?” Lex asked. “He’s been like that for at least a few days.”
While within the resort merely one and half days had passed, within the Inn a lot more time had gone by.
“Not sure actually,” Mary said, twirling her laurel wreath on her fingers. “He seems to be heading in the direction of the Innkeepers office. Maybe he has something to report, but is worried about the consequences.”
“Are you saying he’s going to tattle on himself? That doesn’t make sense. They have full faith in the Innkeeper. They wouldn’t fear him. It must be something else.”
“You’re right, it’s unusual. He’s even missed a few shifts of work. But, since the Security team isn’t responding, it must not be something bad. You’ll have to investigate when you return.”
Lex suddenly had a solemn feeling. He’d never seen an Innworker, at least one of the Innworkers the system provided, take a holiday of their own volition before.
“I just have one last thing to do, then I’ll return to the Inn,” Lex said, and forcefully exited the divine shower. Lex looked at the shower for a moment and wondered if he should buy that off the resort too.
It was divine not just because it was in a Heaven, but because the water temperature was just divine.
Shaking his head, Lex focused on the tasks ahead. He needed to meet with Shireen, and then get the lotus from Licanderoth. Technically he had some time at the resort left, but there was no need to complete it.
Z’s odd behavior worried Lex, and so he wanted to speed things along.
Lex summoned Licanderoth and shared his intention to leave early, but the response he got was unexpected.
“You mean I can come back to the resort whenever I want to complete the time?” Lex asked, incredulously.
“Yes. You have about 11 hours of time left in the premium package, which might not sound like a lot. But if you downgrade it, that’s almost a few years worth of time in any of the lower levels.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” said Lex as he put away a summoning card. Much like the coupon that brought him here, the summoning card could bring him back to the resort if he ever wished. An important thing to note was that he couldn’t transfer the card to anyone else, and could only be used by him.
Lex didn’t feel too strongly about that at the moment, for as he continued to observe Z’s expression at the Inn, he felt that resolving the matter with him was the most urgent thing. Lex did not have any brothers – a blessing, considering his family situation – but over the years he had come to consider Z as a younger brother.
Now that he was watching that younger brother trudge through the dirt he felt the incredible urge to… to go draw a moustache on his face and take a picture with his polaroid! And also resolve his issues, but that came after the polaroid.
But in all seriousness, Lex had lost the will to joke around, so he promptly found Shireen and the other Valkyries, and once again convened a meeting.
He couldn’t help but wonder why they were always together, but decided to ignore the question.
“You had another proposal for me,” he said.
