Lu Li did not know what position he should assume when facing Varian.
Varian’s father, Ryan, was undoubtedly a prodigious strategist and sovereign ruler. This was proven when he successfully defended Stormwind during the Scourge’s first attack from Azeroth.
King Ryan was a hero in the eyes of many for both the Human Alliance and the Stormwind kingdom.
However, he died before Varian could learn from him. Ryan’s most trusted covert agent, Garona, had been controlled by Gul’dan and was commanded to assassinate him. Varian witnessed his father’s death in front of his very eyes and the scene of Garona assassinating him was imprinted into his mind.
According to Lu Li, if Varian hated a person with every fibre of his body, it would definitely be an Orc.
Lu Li was concerned that if he mentioned that he was a disciple of Garona, he would most likely be cut down on the spot.
Varian would not be slain that easily after all.
This was the main camp of the Alliance. The castle was also heavily guarded by powerful warriors and mages.
Lu Li would not accept an impossible quest, so there had to be a way to complete it.
After a short while, they arrived at the entrance of the Hall. However, they quickly realised that all the guards were missing. The Old Paladin started to become anxious.
Obviously, a Major would not be able to command soldiers of this calibre. Therefore, only a general could have followed suit with Twilight Hammer to betray the King. Lu Li hoped that the King could last a little longer.
The Twilight Hammer consisted of many different races banding together because of the same ideals.
Many people would feel that they, too, could achieve anything after joining Twilight hammer. The same reason would be used if they decided to join any other religion – they needed a sense of purpose which would be given to them by people that were more heroic.
After all, this thing called ’belief’ could not be understood by using common sense alone.
Lu Li maintained his speed as he passed corridor after corridor.
He began to think about the methods that he would take if he had wanted to kill the King.
Obviously, he had also considered whether his group would be able to assassinate Varian, who was a powerful Boss. A large part of the Stormwind Knights’ main force would not be here in the Castle, as they would be either fighting outside, or causing disruptions in the markets.
As such, they could methods of misdirection to lure the entrance guards to other places. After this, he would bring Sesame Rice Ball and charge into the main hall of the castle.
"You might be right. A few of the noble groups are definitely parasites in the kingdom," Lu Li and the Old Paladin overheard as thy entered the hall. From the Old Paladin’s expression, this voice belonged to King Varian.
Varian might not have been loved by the people as much as his father was, but he had experienced a great number of difficulties and suffering already.
He had already lost everything due to the death of Ryan. The invasion of the Orcs had flattened and conquered his homeland, taking a large number of casualties. Fortunately, Anduin had rushed to his aid and provided reinforcements to safely transport the remaining refugees in Stormwind to Lordaeron.
A young Varian had already begun to walk the path of a wanderer.
"...How were noble groups created in the first place? Their ancestors were the ones who contributed to the kingdom, which guaranteed their descendants a piece of land and prosperity."
King Varian had seemed to be conversing with Major Samuelson.
Lu Li snuck around the walls and upon taking a peek into the main hall, found himself surprised at the scene.
The floor was absolutely littered with corpses. Lu Li had not expected the battle to commenced. The ones who were speaking were not left without light injuries either.
Unexpectedly, the one that had caused all of this was not Major Samuelson. Lu Li had not met him before, but according to his rank and his appearance, he could not be like his brother.
The one that was sitting on the throne was a large beast – a Faceless One.
According to the Twilight Hammer, only the Faceless Ones, Twilight Dragons, Infinite Dragons and the Elementals would live to see the world that would be enveloped in darkness and be able to bask in the light of the Old Gods.
However, the Faceless One which sat on the throne was not a real Faceless One – it was just Samuelson’s transformation.
Real Faceless Ones were created from the very essence of the gods and their appearances were also different to fake ones.
As for the method involved in creating a Faceless One, no one was aware.
However, the fact that Samuelson could transform himself into a Faceless One was already terrifying. It was no wonder why none of the guards stood a chance.
"I have a few friends such as Edwin VanCleef who are nobles, Lord Varian. Please don’t say that you don’t know them," Samuelson said.
"Rage is not a valid reason for betrayal and turning to the dark side. This sentence is suitable to be given to all of us here, so what’s the purpose of continuing this fight?" Although Varian had suffered from some injuries at the time, his voice was still affirming and strong. His expression also exuded a sense of magnanimity.
Rage had caused a spark in Edwin VanCleef, but rage had also caused him to forget his own values and his integrity.
Similarly, this same rage had caused the death of Queen Tiffin, which exiled many people in the process.
Ultimately, who had used slaughter to profane the name of Justice?
"Just die already, Lord Varian. Your blood will be used as sacrifice to the great N’Zoth."
Perhaps it was because he was beginning to lose his form as a Faceless One that Samuelson was attempting to end this long conversation.
Why was it that everyone had so much useless things to say?
Lu Li watched as the Old Paladin, enveloped in an aura of divine light and flame, charged towards King Varian and stood in between him and his enemy. Lu Li instantly felt nauseous.
