Chapter 676: Using Up All Your Mana
Translator: Halcyon Translations Editor: Halcyon Translations
Even March Rain wouldn’t last against such a continuous barrage of attacks, let alone this poorly-equipped Priest.
After Lu Li’s first attack dropped him to half HP, he had been desperately trying to heal himself while being attacked from behind.
In order to stay alive, the Priest had to keep healing himself. The primary objective of a healer was to keep their teammates alive, but that naturally meant that they also had to stay alive.
"Dammit, I’m almost out of mana," Dusk Paint cried out in panic after he noticed that he only had 25% mana left.
In a tangle of limbs, he quickly summoned a Shadow Fiend that lasted for 15 seconds. Successful attacks by the Shadow Fiend would restore 10% mana to the caster.
The moment the Shadow Fiend appeared, Lu Li decisively used Vanish.
He was gone!
The Priest was dumbfounded, his teammates were dumbfounded and the Shadow Fiend was even more dumbfounded.
Lu Li had disappeared and the Shadow Fiend didn’t have any way of detecting Stealth.
As a result, the Shadow Fiend was left spinning around for a while before it eventually vanished. The Priest’s mana hadn’t been regenerated at all and was now lower than 20% because he had to heal himself.
The Thief, Mage and Priest looked at each other and felt absolutely powerless.
They were all alive and had a solid amount of HP. The Mage had almost recovered from the blindness and the Thief now had the chance to discretely go into Stealth because Lu Li had disengaged.
It seemed that they had gone back to the slow fighting like at the beginning of the battle.
The only difference was in everyone’s skills. Most of their badges were on cooldown and their Priest had less than 20% of his mana remaining.
They were unable to take potions in the Arena and could only rely on their own regeneration. However, Lu Li obviously wasn’t going to give them time to do that.
Of course, it was impossible for a Thief to just turn up in a middle of a team and wreak havoc. Sap could only deal with one player at a time and the stunned player would recover while Lu Li was dealing with another.
Moreover, Sap’s effect was decreased when consecutively used on the same target.
Lu Li had just used it on the Mage, in addition to using it on him 30 minutes ago. This time, Sap’s effect would only last for half the time which was 10 seconds.
Those ten seconds still proved to be fatal as Sky’s Limit’s blood sprayed all over the arena floor.
However, that wasn’t all – Careless Death suddenly appeared. Given the stance that he was in, he hadn’t de-stealthed voluntarily but had been stunned.
If there was another Thief here, they definitely would have respected Careless Death’s Stealth.
But compared to Lu Li, he didn’t stand a chance. Even Floral Paralysis was afraid to definitively say that he could compete with Lu Li’s Stealth.
With Stealth came Detection.
Lu Li quickly dealt with him as he started his rotation of attacks. This was why he had cast Sap on the Mage instead of him; Lu Li didn’t really see him as a threat.
The Thief had been hit by Premeditation into Cheap Shot and suffered the same fate as the Priest. Lu Li was obviously trying to kill him, but instead of using Slit Throat when he reached five combo points, he used Backhand Backstab instead.
Backhand Backstab’s effect not only gave bonus equipment damage but also triggered a two-second paralysis.
After performing a few normal attacks, Lu Li cast Shadowstrike again. His Skill Completion wasn’t particularly high, but the Thief was stunned for another two seconds. Careless Death couldn’t take it anymore, so he used his badge to break free and gave himself a speed boost to escape.
Was he going to the Priest?
Dusk Paint was crying as he told the Thief that he was watching to take all the damage and used up all of his mana on him.
The Thief used his speed boost, but Lu Li didn’t chase him.
Suddenly, his body flashed and he appeared right in front of the Priest.
Gouge!
This was how Gouge was supposed to be used. An effective Gouge required positioning, timing and a surprise.
After he was stunned, the Priest was quite easy to handle. Lu Li just casted all his skills, not caring if they triggered bonus effects or not. The Priest was so slow that Lu Li didn’t even need any speed boosts to keep up.
Dusk Paint ran as quickly as he could.
It wasn’t that he didn’t have time to heal himself, but that he was out of mana. At first, he was trying to heal himself, then switched his focus to the Thief. Now, he didn’t even have the mana to cast a mana-regenerating skill.
When the Mage recovered from Sap, he saw that the Thief and the Priest were in a predicament. He quickly braced himself and charged back into battle.
However, without the ability to heal, there was no way they could save the Priest. Lu Li was desperately attacking to finish him off.
It would have been a significant threat to Lu Li if both players attacked him at once, but he touched his necklace and quickly regenerated a large portion of his HP. This was the upgraded version of Pamela’s Gift.
At this point, when Lu Li’s HP surged, the Priest gave up.
His opponent on a completely different level to them. Their combined strength wasn’t enough to deal with him, not that they cooperated much anyway.
If these three were professional players, they wouldn’t have been so easily defeated.
When the Priest fell, Lu Li was still on half HP. The Mage and the Thief glanced at him and started casting all their skills. This was their last attempt at salvaging the situation.
Lu Li didn’t use any of his damage reduction skills and simply tanked the oncoming damage. When he killed the Thief, he had 30% HP remaining, and by the time he killed the Mage he only had 12% HP remaining.
He was still holding out because he didn’t want to reveal all his cards. If he had used his Book of Ur, the game wouldn’t have needed to be dragged out for so long. He would have killed the Priest in their first encounter.
