Chapter 1745 - Wasted Healing

Chapter 1745: Wasted Healing

After fighting this Boss a few times, Lu Li understood that it wasn’t going to be done by today.

He started to try and adjust the team, and kept only Azure Sea Breeze. The rest of the defensive professions were all changed because this Boss didn’t require many of them. If they were swapped for Thieves or Mages, this would increase the overall damage output of the whole team.

As for why more healers weren’t necessary, it wasn’t because there wasn’t any pressure on them. In fact, the most difficult part of this Boss was maintaining the team’s HP. There was no organisation of healers as there was no point in having more of them.

Loatheb often cast a skill called ‘Corrupt Mind’ which debuffed all healers after a few seconds. All healing magic and dispels were placed on cooldown for one minute. Within this one minute, only one heal or dispel could be used.

Basically, all healing professions were made redundant – they could only be used at key moments.

In times like these, the fight was dependant on the club’s equipment and potions.

All in all, everyone had taken every measure possible to regenerate HP.

On the contrary, the healing potions couldn’t be used at this time.

Some people said that this Boss’ attack wasn’t that high, and that the skill damage was mediocre. This was true, but once someone made your healing useless, then even the weakest attack would gain some lethality.

The second skill was a summoning type skill.

After 20 seconds, Loatheb would summon Diseased Spores, which would creep out of the four wells. The spores had little HP, around 700, and would grant nearby players a buff once killed. The melee players’ Critical Hit rate would increase by 50%, while spell Critical Hit rate would increase by 60%.

This type of spore could be killed easily without the need of aggroing monsters.

The players would also benefit after they died, and there would be no increase in aggro. As such, they were recklessly allowed to increase their damage output.

The ones who killed the spores were usually Mages and Thieves.

Loatheb would be an unsolvable Boss if not for these spores.

Of course, things were never that easy. Loatheb also had a skill of ‘inevitable doom’, which would fill the entire area with dark damage. It would debuff all players within 100 yards with a slow effect every 30 seconds, while dealing 2500 points of Shadow damage. Once 15 minutes had passed in the Boss fight, the trigger time was adjusted to every 5 seconds.

Of course, this was terrifying, but within the first 15 minutes it was still manageable.

After 15 minutes, a team wipe would be inevitable. No one could withstand so much damage once every 5 seconds.

The team was destroyed again and again. They had also wasted a lot of materials and potions. It was necessary to burn money to fight against Loatheb. Shadow Resistance equipment and life-steal equipment also had to be considered. Once they had accumulated enough life-steal, the melee players could continuously regenerate HP in the battle, so as to alleviate the pressure on the healers.

Lu Li put on a few pieces of life-stealing equipment he had taken from the club warehouse. Even though his output fell by a huge margin, his life-steal considerably increased.

He could recover about 300 HP for each ordinary attack. As long as he wasn’t struck by the Boss face-on, he didn’t need to worry about the damaged caused by the ‘inevitable doom’.

If they wanted to pass the Boss steadily, they just needed to bring more Thieves. Everyone needed to wear some life-steal equipment and take turns to kill the spores. There was no need to worry about output. However, they also couldn’t wear too much life-steal equipment, otherwise, the damage wouldn’t be able to keep up and the Thieves wouldn’t have an advantage anymore.

“My HP! My HP!” Azure Sea Breeze shouted.

“Stop shouting! You’re not dead yet,” March Rain scolded.

“It would be too late if I’m dead, sister. My life is already in your hands okay?!”

Azure Sea Breeze pulled a long face. Usually when he tanked a Boss, his HP steadily remained above 50%. Now, it had dropped to 30% and he was not being healed.

“Who are you calling sister? Am I your sister?”

Lonesome Flower was not happy. March Rain was his sister, and nobody else could take that from him.

“Hehe, Flowery, let me tell you something, hey? Your sister is gonna marry someone one day hahaha~” Azure Sea Breeze cackled, not afraid of death.

“Get out! I’m going to kill you one day!” Lonesome Flower roared.

Azure Sea Breeze loved to see other people’s expressions of wanting to kill him; he despised people like Lonesome Flower, who acted like a pretty boy.

“Stop fighting. Darkness, heal!”

March Rain was rather angry.

Darkness lifted her hand and filled up Azure Sea Breeze’s HP bar, then proceeded into a one-minute cooldown. March Rain was responsible for adjusting the healing times between the healing professions. These guys were already angry, so they were not in the mood to listen to the quarrelling between these two man-children.

They needed to wait until the Main Tank’s HP had fallen to a certain level. Then, the healers would cast an Enhanced healing skill restore his HP all at once. This way, they wouldn’t waste the entire minute.

“Let’s hope this time it won’t go Berserk,” everyone prayed as they were about to enter into the last stage.

Loatheb still had a chance of going Berserk at the moment. There had already been two times he had gone Berserk and destroyed the teams. After a period of time, the gaming company would remove this Boss’ Berserk mechanism. Combined with the restriction of healing, a Berserk would simply strip away any chance of survival.

Perhaps because their prayers were more earnest, Loatheb actually hadn’t gone Berserk.

“It’s steady now,” Lu Li sighed in relief.

Loatheb fell and two people received Skill Points. Of course, this didn’t include Lu Li, but he wasn’t jealous. It would be a miracle for Lady Luck to doze off.
