Chapter 1430: Onyxia’s Lair
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Onyxia was currently a fugitive.
She was Neltharion, the Wings of Death, and the younger sister of her brother Nefarion. The crimes that she, the Princess of the Black Dragon committed, were hidden from the eyes’ of Stormwind City and corrupted the city’s politics. After she was exposed by Marshal Reginald Winsor, she shamelessly finished him off and was listed as wanted throughout the entire world.
Players looked everywhere to try and find her out where she was hiding, until they finally discovered her lair.
Onyxia was in the land of Theramore’s Fall – a putrid bog. If a player didn’t have to venture here, they would prefer not to.
However, Lu Li had to come here again.
This time, the deployment he was leading was basically made up of the Molten Core team. The actual players of the Instance Dungeon, added together with the substitutes, totalled as many as 100 people. The three from Drizzle Court joined in again too.
“The Horde have killed Emberstrife. It looks like they will also advance into Onyxia’s Lair,” Wandering reported.
“Are you sure their brains are working? I don’t think they’ve already finished off Ragnaros.”
Even though the Ruling Sword had already acquired the First Clear on Ragnaros, there was actually more at play here because of Lu Li’s rebirth.
A conservative estimate would be that by the end of this week, there would be other groups advancing through the Molten Core.
Of course, if Sorrowless brought people to attempt the Elite difficulty, Lu Li would have no choice. The question was whether or not Sorrowless would try such a meaningless thing. To Sorrowless, attempting the Instance Dungeon on Elite difficulty was simply pointless.
“I’m guessing they’ll give it a try. They’ve got quite a few troops, with more than a dozen level 60s in their group,” Wandering said.
“More than a dozen or so...” Lu Li felt a some pain at the base of his teeth.
This was the wisdom of the Archduke – Ruling Sword was at the top of the rankings list and led all the players. However, after the level 60s had been capped for a few days, many more players would reach this milestone, and the ratio of level 60 players that Ruling Sword had would decline drastically.
If there were 20 max-level players, perhaps 18 would be in the Ruling Sword.
If there were 1000 max-level players, there would perhaps be 100 Ruling Sword players.
If there were 10000 max-level players, there might not even be 200 Ruling Sword players.
So now, regardless of whether it was Glory Capital or another organisation, the number of level 60 players was still many times that of the number in Ruling Sword. Including substitutes, Ruling Sword could have three or four groups of 40, not to mention the other guilds and organisations who had a dozen or so players.
“Should we go and destroy the Boss that they are trying to kill? We can even take away their responsibility of opening the gate,” Wandering laughed.
The Horde and the Alliance had different responsibilities. The Alliance was meant to attack the Instance Dungeon Boss over at Blackrock Tower, while the Horde was to attack Emberstrife, who was in the wilderness.
Emberstrife lived at Theramore’s Fall in his Lair, protecting Onyxia. He was a very old dragon and the bodyguard of Nefarion, solely responsible for investigating those who would become the Dragonspawn guards of Onyxia.
“If we leak this info out to other guilds, I think there will be quite a few who want to meddle with them. We should quietly watch and see how it goes,” Lu Li said.
There was no need to face off against the Horde. If there was a clash in the wilderness, Ruling Sword still could not compete with the likes of Glory Capital, let alone the entire Horde faction.
Actually, Lu Li had left one thing unsaid this whole time. Even if they let Glory Capital open the way into Onyxia’s Instance Dungeon, they might not be able to defeat the Princess of the Black Dragon herself, or at least they wouldn’t be able to defeat her in a short time. At the moment, Lu Li didn’t have this kind of faith.
Anyway, Lu Li had not been able to access to Onyxia’s Lair in his last life.
In this cave of burning, raging flames, Onyxia’s son, the evil Black Dragonflight’s remnant, was here protecting her.
However, this Instance Dungeon definitely only had one Boss.
Lu Li understood what the other guilds were thinking: “There’s only one Boss anyway. What if we just attack it?”
However, their current hypothetical calculations simply did not take into account the terrifying ‘Deep Breath’ attack.
As they entered the Instance Dungeon and walked through the dark passageway, they first saw a guard of Onyxia. With the training of the Molten Core, Azure Sea Breeze was extremely vigilant against the small monsters of the Instance Dungeon, especially this type of monster which dared to act by itself. After all, he was talented and brave.
Onyxia’s guard was really very amazing. He was able to deal area of effect attacks with Armour Pierce.
This affected 180 degrees around him and could directly reduce armour by 75%. His Armour Pierce was not the only skill; he was able to use Flame Lash, which was able to reduce 75% of fire resistance. You could say that this was a twofold use of both physical attack and magic.
After this came Cleave, which killed more than half of the players. One subsequent Fire Nova nearly wiped out all of the players who had reduced Fire Resistance.
A whole group dying in one of these places against these smaller monsters was rather common.
“Do you need me to teach you how to pull monsters?” Lu Li asked.
“No need – this next time I’m absolute certain there’s no problem,” Azure Sea Breeze said sheepishly. He was known as Dawn’s number one Main Tank. If he was reduced to needing to let Lu Li teach him how to draw aggro, he might as well just have died to simplify matters.
Azure Sea Breeze was Azure Sea Breeze. He pulled Onyxia’s guard and hit the guard’s head against the wall, with his back to everyone.
The others were at the rear attacking. The monster wearing his spiked armour and wielding his Flame Lash could only attack Azure Sea Breeze. Even if Azure Sea Breeze’s defence decreased, it was apparent that he wasn’t the type for the monster to kill in one shot. Furthermore, the healers were regenerating his HP, so it certainly wasn’t going to be easy for him to die.
The little monster looked to have about 17 000 or 18 000 HP, so it would be finished off soon.
It dropped a piece of Gold equipment, which was a level 60 item. It could scarcely be considered rubbish – after all, this was an item from Onyxia’s Lair on Nightmare difficulty.
After having trained the first time, Azure Sea Breeze was much more careful when encountering the monster the second time. He had a glance and realised that not far from the second little monster was a third, and this third one was not the type to remain stationary. That monster could be considered a Wight, which would patrol around a small area.
Azure Sea Breeze waited until the third monster was furthest away before he shot an arrow over at him.
He pulled the second small monster and kept retreating until he had reached a safe distance. Only after he had firmly gotten hold of the enemy did he spur everyone into action.
The second little monster dropped a rare item and a piece of Silver equipment.
The items that the monsters dropped were indeed quite rare, but it was a shame that in this Instance Dungeon the monsters were too few. There were only four before the Boss.
After the four monsters had been dealt with, everyone soon saw the Princess of the Black Dragon, Onyxia, in the deep hollow of the cave. Her giant body was lying down on a fiery piece of ground, taking a nap.
