Chapter 1073: Bleeding Thief
Translator: Halcyon Translations Editor: Halcyon Translations
In a Thief vs. Thief fight, initiative was incredibly important. The next most important thing was casting your Crowd Control skills onto your opponent. The player that got these things right would have a significant advantage.
However, even if you failed, that didn’t mean you had to give up. Everyone here was a professional player after all, and the equipment gap wasn’t as great as compared to an ordinary player. By the time Post-Mortem Cook had a chance to fight back, he was already on 40% HP.
He turned around and immediately cast Gouge!
His angle of attack was quite precise and he successfully stunned Lu Li for a second.
Many of the players who trained in this profession were very skilled at this. It was the result of endless hours of work, and even someone like Lu Li couldn’t react quickly enough to it.
After being stunned for a second, Post-Mortem Cook didn’t even consider going around to cast Cheap Shot. This was a waste of time. He couldn’t give an opponent like Lu Li any further opportunities, so he cast his signature skill, Hemorrhage.
A spray of blood flowed out of the wound in Lu Li’s chest as damage values continuously appeared over his head.
The amount of damage was very low, so Lu Li didn’t have to worry about it for a while. However, the reason why Hemorrhage was so strong was because the effect could be stacked up to five times. It was said that enhanced Hemorrhage could even be stacked up to ten times.
Hemorrhage could be cast almost instantly, so Lu Li had been hit with three stacks by the time he recovered.
Lu Li then blocked his opponent’s next attack, which still caused damage, but prevented further stacks of Hemorrhage from accumulating.
There was no way that Lu Li could afford to tank five stacks of Hemorrhage either.
Now, the fight was simply a matter of the two Thieves and their four daggers as they started to grind each other down.
Post-Mortem had saved up his signature move, but unfortunately, he wasn’t a particularly strong Thief in fights like these. He had weaker attack power and couldn’t stand up to Lu Li’s strength. When he finally died, Lu Li was still left with 18% HP.
After four fights, even Lu Li was a little bit tired.
However, he stood on the stage confidently, waiting for the fifth player from Blue Universe. The audience slowly calmed down, as they watched this usually low-key, but sometimes ridiculous Lu Li. They couldn’t help but respect him.
There were two more players in Blue Universe – one was a Shaman called Lucky, while the other was a Warlock called Voidwalker.
The Shaman was an elemental Shaman who mainly focused on ranged Magic damage with some healing abilities. This profession had great benefits in a group fight, but in a one-on-one fight with a Thief, they had almost no hope of winning. The Warlock was a damage output profession, with no overwhelming advantage for either side.
After some discussion the Warlock Voidwalker was sent on stage.
Voidwalker was obviously a new ID, but this didn’t mean that he was a new player. He could have just used a different ID in his previous games.
Dawn had a monster called a Voidwalker. It was an elemental monster, and was one of the Demons that a Warlock could summon. They were also known as ‘fatty’, or ‘blue fatty’.
It was likely that when this player first entered the game, they had seen a Voidwalker on the forums and decided to name themselves after it. This was actually considered bad form among the Warlock circles.
He summoned a blue fatty, which had relatively high Armor and Health, but the damage that it could deal was limited as it was a guard pet. His Voidwalker was said to have crowd control skills like Trample, Charge, a shield skill and a life-sharing skill. It was an exquisite summon and he had completed many quests to get it to its current state.
Trample could help him catch Thieves, Charge was generally a good crowd control skill, the shield could reduce his damage taken and the life sharing skill meant that Lu Li couldn’t only target the Warlock. It was this life-sharing skill that made a fragile Warlock much tankier.
In general, Voidwalker was capable of dealing with most Thieves, but now, he was facing Lu Li.
Even if the blue fatty was there to share the damage with him, he would lose HP much faster than Lu Li would. Most of his damage would come from the blue fatty and some continuous damage skills. He wouldn’t have much of a chance to channel any of his powerful skills.
However, Voidwalker didn’t give up. Lu Li’s HP was less than 20%, so that was all he needed to get rid of before he died.
Lu Li engaged and used all kinds of skills and effects, trying his best to close the distance between his opponent’s HP and his own.
With his residual HP remaining, Lu Li looked up to see that Voidwalker actually only had 30 to 40% HP remaining.
He then calmly used a special effect on the blue fatty.
Death’s Clutch (Dark Gold): Armor 55, Agility +50, Strength +35, Critical Hit +20%, Special Effect 1: Backstab +1, Special Effect 2: After casting Cheap Shot, there is a certain chance that a shield that reduces 50% of damage taken will appear. This effect lasts for up to 3 skills. Special Effect 3: Exile, prevent the target from taking any actions for 2 seconds. During this period, the target is invincible. Only one target can be exiled at a time and this skill can only be used on targets that are lower levelled than the user. Equipment Requirement: Level 55. Durability 268/268.
Exile!
For two seconds, Lu Li couldn’t attack the blue fatty, but the blue fatty couldn’t threaten him either.
He turned towards Voidwalker and turned into a Giant Wolf in midair with The Book of Ur’s effect.
Voidwalker’s Disarm effect had not yet lapsed, so he couldn’t stop Lu Li from dealing hundreds of damage. After landing, Lu Li ran around Voidwalker and didn’t hesitate to use his Enhanced Shadowstrike, even though the angle and preparation wasn’t great. However, he still produced a Skill Completion of greater than 90%, resulting in a 1 second stun.
The blue fatty had now recovered, and was moving in to attack Lu Li.
Lu Li only had a few hundred points of HP left. If the blue fatty hit him with a dozen more continuous damage skills, he would be dead.
Even if the blue fatty didn’t hit him, the continuous damage that he was taking was bound to kill him as well.
Of course, Voidwalker was now always in a critical state.
“Dammit, Voidwalker shouldn’t have brought the blue fatty. If it was a succubus or a demon, one skill would have killed Lu Li already.”
The most stressed players was neither Lu Li nor Voidwalker, but the other players in Blue Universe.
If it was a succubus and it cast Fear on Lu Li, there was a good chance that he would have nothing to respond with.
If it was a demon, then a large fireball would definitely be enough to instantly kill him.
Although the blue fatty was useful, it was melee and had low movement speed. It had to walk all the way to Lu Li to attack him.
Backstab!
The level six Backstab dealt 600 damage, which wasn’t much less damage than an ultimate skill. Lu Li then lifted his leg and Kicked his opponent to interrupt the life sharing skill. After Voidwalker was kicked, he would be silenced for a while. He stared blankly for a moment before lifting his Magic Staff and bringing it down on Lu Li’s face.
