The Extreme Alchemist of the Mighty Cauldron
Chapter 1829 - 1927: Kylin’s CorpseChapter 1829: Chapter 1927: Kylin’s Corpse
Who knew this seemingly rusted ancient sword was actually quite formidable? Fang Lin’s arm strength was terrifying but he found it difficult to hold onto this sword.
"What a treasure this sword is!" Fang Lin’s face lit up with joy, exerting his power once more, practically using all his strength.
Though the sword was extraordinary, in the end, Fang Lin managed to subdue it, unable to escape from his grip.
However, even after dealing with the sword, Fang Lin didn’t come out unscathed, with scars left by Sword Qi all over his body, looking somewhat disheveled.
The woman in the black dress glanced at Fang Lin but seemed uninterested in the sword he was holding, withdrawing her gaze after just a look.
She would rather Fang Lin face some crisis in this archaic battleground, preferably dying here.
Fang Lin looked at the rusty ancient sword in his hand, wiping the accumulated rust with his fingers.
After wiping off the rust, the sword revealed its true form, entirely jet-black and even shimmering slightly. Though not dazzling, it was extraordinary to have remained unaffected in this ancient battleground for so many years.
"I’ve never seen this material before; it feels so light yet is incredibly tough." Fang Lin said, secretly amazed.
Though he had found this sword, Fang Lin wasn’t skilled in swordsmanship, so it seemed rather useless in his hands.
After all, no matter how good this sword was, it couldn’t compare to an ancient spear in his hands.
"I’ll hold onto it for now; it might make a good gift when I return to modern times." Fang Lin said, stowing the sword away.
After about half a month of searching, Fang Lin found four complete archaic relics, untouched by time and perfectly preserved, which were the most valuable archaic relics he had in hand.
Additionally, there were a dozen or so slightly damaged archaic relics. Due to their defects, their value was greatly diminished, but it was better than nothing. Having come this far, Fang Lin naturally intended to thoroughly scour the area.
As for heavenly materials and earthly treasures, Fang Lin found few, likely because of an ancient exotic formation covering the area, which prevented anything from growing.
However, Fang Lin didn’t mind, as he wasn’t expecting to find any particularly precious heavenly materials or earthly treasures; after all, he didn’t lack these things.
Unconsciously, Fang Lin had delved deep into the archaic battleground, where the surrounding killing aura was growing heavier, and the number of corpses increased rapidly.
Fang Lin glanced around and spotted an enormous skeleton, furrowing his brows.
"This seems to be a Kylin’s skeleton." Fang Lin muttered as he walked up to the skeleton.
Upon closer inspection, Fang Lin was moved, realizing it was indeed a skeleton left by a deceased Kylin. The bones were unlike any Demon Beast’s.
However, because the Kylin had died so long ago, even as an Exotic Beast of heaven and earth, its flesh had dried up entirely, with no aura or power left in the bones.
"What a pity, a completely useless skeleton, nothing to gain from it." Fang Lin lamented; this Kylin skeleton was of no use despite its seemingly intact preservation. If Fang Lin were to touch it, it would likely crumble to dust.
"It seems the ancient eras were full of turmoil; even mighty creatures like the Kylin were killed. Humans surviving those times must have been incredibly difficult." Fang Lin mused internally.
Just as Fang Lin was about to leave, he suddenly heard a strange sound, like bones clattering against each other.
Fang Lin’s hearing was excellent, and despite the faintness of the sound, he caught it, swiftly turning to gaze at the massive Kylin skeleton.
"Impossible! Could it still come back to life after such a thorough death?" Fang Lin muttered to himself, utterly disbelieving that this Kylin could still be alive.
The Kylin skeleton remained motionless, and after watching for a while, Fang Lin was sure the sound wasn’t coming from the Kylin skeleton.
Crack!
The same sound rang out, clearer this time, and Fang Lin identified it wasn’t from the Kylin skeleton but a pile of bones not far away.
The bones were piled high, with both human and Demon Beast bones, indicating they had died terribly and were mixed so thoroughly they couldn’t be distinguished.
Fang Lin watched the bones warily, perplexed by the sound. Could there be something alive within the pile?
Logic told Fang Lin this was impossible; this was an archaic battleground, so how could anything living still exist? The only living things here were Fang Lin and that woman in the black dress.
After a while, the sound came again, and Fang Lin hesitated before approaching the pile of bones.
But just two or three steps forward, the bones suddenly erupted, bones big and small whistling toward Fang Lin.
Reacting quickly, Fang Lin instantly withdrew, evading all the bones hurled his way.
"Something’s definitely off!" Fang Lin’s expression tensed, ready for combat, focusing on the bone pile’s activity.
A string of bones floated up, systematically coming together, merging with the surrounding murderous aura.
Fang Lin’s eyes widened in awe at this sight, wondering if the dead could indeed come back to life.
"That’s simply not possible!" Fang Lin asserted coldly, aware that once truly dead, a soul couldn’t return to this world.
No matter how powerful, be it a True Dragon, Divine Phoenix, or a Martial Lord of the Human Clan, once truly dead and their soul dissipated, they couldn’t exist.
But this scene defied logic, surprising anyone who saw it.
"Could there be a living dead here, like the Flame Emperor’s wife, causing such anomalies?" Fang Lin couldn’t help but wonder, recalling the Flame Emperor’s wife in Ghost Mountain of Qian Country, kept in a half-dead state by the Corpse Emperor Pill.
But to Fang Lin, this anomaly differed from Ghost Mountain, as no corpse aura was present.
The woman in the black dress also seemed to have heard the commotion, hurriedly arriving from afar and seeing the bones converge, her expression immediately changed.
"A Bone Demon has emerged here!" she exclaimed in shock.
Hearing the term ’Bone Demon,’ Fang Lin suddenly understood.
