Chapter 1796: Chapter 1893: False Accusation

The reason these people were so surprised was because they actually knew the person Fang Lin was describing.

A short old man with a white beard and sparse hair wasn’t anything special, as there were all types of people in the vast world; these features were too common.

However, having three moles below the left eye was rare, and it just so happened that a well-known figure in the Pill Saint Palace matched these unique features, just as Fang Lin described.

“Are there any other characteristics besides these?” the old man pressed, his expression changing, no longer casting doubts on Fang Lin as before.

Fang Lin furrowed his brows, thinking for a moment. Suddenly something occurred to him, and he quickly said, “That senior seemed to have a charred palm on his right hand.”

Hearing this, the people present immediately understood the senior Fang Lin spoke of was indeed someone they knew.

For a moment, no one spoke in the hall, and the atmosphere was quite subtle. Ouyang Han pondered in silence, with what seemed like a smile and some delight on his face.

The two from the Law Enforcement Hall looked at each other, unsure of what to say.

Inwardly, Fang Lin was amused, though outwardly he feigned ignorance, looking confusedly at Ouyang Han and the others.

“Hall Master, two Stewards, do you perhaps know that senior?” Fang Lin asked with a tone of doubt.

In truth, Fang Lin hadn’t encountered any senior in the Seventy-Two Seas. However, he did know the senior he spoke of, not in this life, but from a person he knew in his past life.

Back when Fang Lin became a disciple of the Pill Saint Palace, he gained fame in the Azure Dragon Hall and then traveled extensively. He once met an old Pill Refiner who had left the Pill Saint Palace early on. They had a thorough conversation and became close friends across generations. Fang Lin also learned some Pill Refining techniques from this old Pill Refiner.

Fang Lin knew this old Pill Refiner’s name, Yan Zixu, who was a famous figure in the Pill Saint Palace but left due to some unknown matters and never returned. People from the Pill Saint Palace had searched for him many times outside but couldn’t find him.

Fang Lin brought up this person to clear himself of any accusations of being mysterious, letting the Pill Saint Palace know that he had been taught by Yan Zixu, which ruled out any unknown origin.

Sure enough, Ouyang Han smiled and said to Fang Lin, “So you had such fortune. The senior you mentioned was once a Pill Refiner of our Pill Saint Palace. Since you’ve received his guidance, you’re considered half his apprentice.”

Fang Lin let out an “ah,” feigning great surprise.

The old man from the Law Enforcement Hall also said, “Based on your description, it is undoubtedly that person. Given this, you couldn’t possibly be a spy sent by the Poison Pill Masters; this was a misunderstanding.”

As he spoke, the old man slightly cupped his hands towards Fang Lin, “As a Steward of the Law Enforcement Hall, I was merely doing my duty previously.”

Fang Lin hurriedly returned the gesture, “Steward, you’re too kind; this disciple is humbled.”

The old man maintained a stern face, then also cupped his fists towards Ouyang Han and said, “Hall Master Ouyang, this matter has been clarified, and my colleague and I will return to report. I hope Hall Master Ouyang doesn’t mind the disturbance.”

Ouyang Han waved his hand, “It’s alright, the work of the Law Enforcement Hall is something this Hall Master will always actively support as long as the truth is clarified.”

The old man nodded, just about to turn and leave with his companion when Ouyang Han suddenly spoke, “However, there is one thing this Hall Master would like to ask.”

The old man halted, looking at Ouyang Han.

Ouyang Han’s smile disappeared, replaced with a hint of coldness, “Who accused my White Phoenix Hall disciple of being a spy for the Poison Pill Masters?”

Fang Lin was about to ask this question himself, but Ouyang Han beat him to it, which was just as well, since it wasn’t appropriate for him, merely a disciple, to directly question members of the Law Enforcement Hall.

But Ouyang Han had no such concerns. She was well-known for being protective, and no matter how unimpressive a disciple of the White Phoenix Hall was, they were under her command. If anyone dared to touch them, it was naturally stepping on her nerves, and she would never let it slide easily.

The old man hesitated for a moment, somewhat resigned, and said, “Hall Master Ouyang, since this matter is cleared, perhaps there’s no need to hold onto it?”

Ouyang Han glared, “Let it be? This Hall Master wants to know who falsely accused Lin Erdan and for what reason. If you don’t say, this Hall Master has reason to suspect that the Law Enforcement Hall is deliberately causing trouble.”

The old man, realizing she truly intended to escalate the matter, felt a headache coming on. Although the authority of the Law Enforcement Hall surpassed Ouyang Han, she was one of the nine major hall masters, and if things really got heated, it would be quite troublesome for the Law Enforcement Hall.

Having no other choice, the old man said, “I won’t hide it, Hall Master, this was caused by Cheng Qingyu, a new disciple from the Azure Dragon Hall.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Lin coldly smirked internally, as it was indeed this person. He hadn’t acted against her first, yet she had seized the initiative to act against him.

Ouyang Han’s face turned grim, “A new disciple from the Azure Dragon Hall? Cheng Qingyu? Alright, I’m going to the Azure Dragon Hall to demand an explanation from Shen Suifeng.”

The old man and another Steward hurriedly tried to dissuade her, as Ouyang Han’s fiery temper was notorious, and she would do anything once she was riled up, even curse anyone. If she were to confront that Shen Suifeng, it could potentially evolve into a conflict between the two halls, placing the Law Enforcement Hall in a difficult position in the middle.

Besides, everyone knew that Ouyang Han and the Azure Dragon Hall Master Shen Suifeng had been at odds since early on. Even though both had risen to high positions, becoming hall masters, this hadn’t changed. If this matter escalated, it might alarm the Great Elder.

“You two needn’t say more. This Hall Master must get to the bottom of this. Why did Cheng Qingyu falsely accuse my White Phoenix Hall disciple? The Law Enforcement Hall should also find out the truth; perhaps Cheng Qingyu is the real spy, intending to sow discord between the White Phoenix Hall and the Azure Dragon Hall.” Ouyang Han pointed at the two Stewards from the Law Enforcement Hall.

The two were taken aback, then thought it was indeed odd that Cheng Qingyu would unreasonably accuse Lin Erdan.

Seeing the desired effect achieved, Fang Lin immediately cupped his fists towards the two Stewards and said, “I hope the Law Enforcement Hall can find justice for this disciple. I don’t want to be wronged for no reason.”

Ouyang Han gave Fang Lin a satisfied look, secretly noting that Lin Erdan was quite clever, knowing when to say the right things.
