Chapter 1704: Chapter 1801: It’s Me
Fang Lin pretended to pass casually. The black sea fish, mixed among other sea fish, was already inconspicuous and now almost impossible to detect.
But Fang Lin acted unexpectedly. The Heavenly Eye Power spread out, sealing the ocean within a radius of hundreds of miles.
Immediately after, Fang Lin directly charged toward the black sea fish with sudden ferocity.
This attack came completely out of the blue. The black sea fish never anticipated that Fang Lin had long since detected its presence. By the time it realized Fang Lin had locked onto it, it was already too late to flee.
Fang Lin’s hand lunged forward. The black sea fish suddenly burst into a brilliant light, transforming into a figure that clashed against Fang Lin’s palm.
A loud “bang” was heard as the ocean water churned violently. Fang Lin’s figure stood unmoving like a mountain, entirely unaffected. In contrast, the figure staggered backward repeatedly.
“Who are you?” Fang Lin questioned, refraining from attacking again.
The figure gave no response but turned and fled into the distance. Seeing this, Fang Lin had no choice but to pursue.
One ahead and one behind, they engaged in a chase that lasted a full ten days before Fang Lin finally managed to corner the figure again in a desperate place.
“Still trying to escape?” Fang Lin spoke, gazing at the figure before him.
It was an old woman, seemingly frail and aged, with an aura of decline surrounding her. Her lifespan was clearly nearing its end.
However, the old woman’s cultivation level was not weak, having reached the initial Immortal stage. Still, due to her decaying body and waning vitality, she was no match for Fang Lin.
The old woman stared intently at Fang Lin, her murky eyes filled with a glimmer of despair.
“Such relentless pursuit… Even if I die today, I won’t let you have it easy!” the old woman snarled, her face full of fury.
Fang Lin remained unmoved, though his heart felt conflicted. He couldn’t discern whether this old woman was truly a former member of the Pill Saint Palace.
“Who exactly are you?” Fang Lin questioned again, trying to make his tone as calm as possible.
The old woman sneered coldly in response. “If you want to act, then act! With your strength, there’s no need to play these petty tricks.”
Fang Lin sighed and said, “I don’t intend to kill you. I only acted because you’d been secretly following me, forcing me to unmask you.”
The old woman frowned, unwilling to trust Fang Lin’s words so easily, her guarded expression remaining unchanged.
Fang Lin continued, “I’ll be frank with you. I’m looking for people from the former Pill Saint Palace.”
When the old woman heard this, she snorted heavily, “Looking for Pill Saint Palace members? Isn’t it just to hunt us to extinction? What’s the point of all this talk?”
Fang Lin’s face lit with a trace of joy. “So, you truly are one of the Pill Saint Palace’s people?”
The old woman sneered but said nothing.
Fang Lin gazed at her without speaking further. Instead, he began to perform a set of Pill Refining Skills comprehensible only to members of the Pill Saint Palace.
When the old woman saw the technique Fang Lin displayed, she froze and stared at him in disbelief.
“How do you know this skill? Where did you steal it from?” the old woman asked furiously, her voice rising.
Fang Lin smiled and seamlessly transitioned his technique, showcasing the Ancient Skill acknowledged as one of the Pill Saint Palace’s Seven Alchemy Skills.
The Seven Alchemy Skills were each remarkably intricate—among the numerous Pill Refiners of the Pill Saint Palace, few had mastered all seven. Even those proficient in four or five were a rarity.
Only four individuals had ever fully mastered the Seven Alchemy Skills and wielded them to their utmost proficiency, Fang Lin being one of them.
Fang Lin didn’t offer verbal explanations to prove his identity; instead, he chose the simplest and most irrefutable method—showing the old woman that he, like her, belonged to the Pill Saint Palace.
One by one, Fang Lin performed all Seven Alchemy Skills. His execution was flawless, without even the slightest deviation or error. It was perfection manifested.
The old woman stood there dazed, staring at Fang Lin’s hands. Even after he stopped, her gaze remained fixed.
Fang Lin refrained from saying more and quietly stood there, waiting for the old woman to recover.
“The Seven Skills—you know them all! How is this possible? Who are you? Who on earth are you?” The old woman’s voice trembled, filled with shock and fear instead of anger and resentment.
As a person of the Pill Saint Palace, the old woman was well aware of the Seven Alchemy Skills’ prestigious status within the organization. Even she had only mastered two.
Yet Fang Lin had performed all seven. How could she not be shaken to her core?
Facing her questioning, Fang Lin smiled lightly. “I am the same as you—a member of the Pill Saint Palace.”
The old woman heard this but shook her head repeatedly. “The Seven Alchemy Skills… Even my old mentor mastered only five. How can you know all seven? It’s impossible!”
Fang Lin sighed softly. “Even after I’ve displayed the Seven Alchemy Skills, you still do not believe me?”
The old woman raised her head sharply to look at Fang Lin. “As far as I know, among all the Pill Refiners of the former Pill Saint Palace, only four people mastered all Seven Alchemy Skills after their invention. Other than their creator, these included the Old Palace Master, the Great Elder, Qi Liansheng, and one more person…”
She paused, seemingly lost in the reminiscing of the old days at the Pill Saint Palace, murmuring vaguely, “The Old Palace Master needs no explanation, as his mastery of the Seven Skills was unparalleled. Then, the Great Elder managed to master them with the Old Palace Master’s guidance. Afterward came Qi Liansheng, followed by one other…”
At this point, her expression shifted drastically. When she looked at Fang Lin again, her gaze resembled that of someone who had seen a ghost.
“You cannot be the Old Palace Master or the Great Elder. Qi Liansheng betrayed us and was expelled long ago. You can only be…” The old woman stopped abruptly, her voice faltering with disbelief.
Fang Lin revealed a faintly bitter smile. “Why won’t you say the name of the fourth person you mentioned?”
The old woman remained restless, unable to calm herself, too afraid to believe and unwilling to accept. Was this merely a pathetic, dreamlike delusion before her death?
“The fourth person… The fourth person…” she muttered repeatedly, haunted by memories of a name that once represented the pride of the Pill Saint Palace. A name that made all Pill Refiners bow their heads. A name that elevated the Pill Tao to a new height.
Though years had passed and the Pill Saint Palace crumbled into oblivion, disappearing along with its people, this name lingered in the hearts of all its members, indelible.
“You are Fang Lin!”
The old woman suddenly screamed this name with a throat-rending intensity, her eyes red and her body trembling.
Fang Lin smiled. The crystal-like tears sliding from his eyes mingled with the seawater, indistinguishable.
“It’s me.”
